“Well, I’ve been in this Junk Town most of my life,” singer-songwriter Ian Noe sings on his debut album, Between the Country. Noe hails from small-town Eastern Kentucky, and his first offering is a bundle of dark tales and larger-than-life characters from his beleaguered home region. “It’s a country jungle ‘round here,” he sings halfway through a record littered with meth, online poker, bitter wind and despair.
Noe, 29, sings with a gentle high nasal that recalls Diamonds in the Rough-era John Prine. Unlike the debut of his fellow country-leaning Kentucky contemporary Tyler Childers,...

If there’s a universal suggestion in songwriting, it’s to “write what you know,” since discerning listeners will quickly poke holes in disingenuous songs. Singer-songwriter Ian Noe doesn’t have that problem. His first full-length album, Between the Country, due May 31st, personifies the real, rural and sometimes downtrodden communities of Kentucky and Appalachia at large.
Noe knows this land and its hardworking inhabitants as well as anyone who’s ever claimed the Bluegrass State as home. He possesses a deep understanding of people’s unyielding vices, underlying motives and destructive weaknesses,...

“Each one of the girls dies a gruesome death, and the killer takes a trophy … things it turns out each girl was most stuck-up about.”
That’s the premise of this slasher horror-comedy with the pull-no-punches title of Crazy Bitches.
Written and directed by Jane Clark (who previously made the gritty, Lukas Haas drug drama Meth Head), the indie film is set for a debut at the Lgbt festivals Frameline (June 26) and OutFest (July 17).
The story tracks a reunion of former sorority sisters and their “one fab gay guy” friend as they head out for a getaway in a prototypical cabin in the woods.

Chicago – One of the perkier new TV shows of the fall season on The CW network is the medical drama, “Emily Owens, M.D.,” about a first year medical student navigating the rigors of a big city hospital. One of the more memorable characters is Dr. Gina Bandari, portrayed by Necar Zadegan, a teaching surgeon that Emily (Marnie Gummer) will encounter along her journey.
Zadegan is a familiar television face, creating the distinct character of Dalia Hassan in Season 8 – the last season – for the popular drama “24.” After graduating with a degree in literature from the University of California, Zadegan amassed a number of TV appearances up until her role as Dalia. In film, she appeared in the notable independent entitled “Elena Undone” (2010), and will be in the upcoming “Meth Head.”

After two years of development and a handful of on again/off again stard dates, “The Science of Cool” is coming back to life, with financing secured and a December 3rd production start date all lined up. While different versions of the cast have been assembled since 2010, with folks like Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Sumpter in the mix, the indie drama will now be led by Willa Holland ("Arrow,""Gossip Girl"), Nick Krause (“The Descendants”), newcomer Matthew Ziff (“Treachery”) and Guy Kent (“Meth Head”) with Steve Guttenberg and Michael Biehn also on board. Additionally, Mischa Barton, who has also been long linked to the film, is now circling one of the roles in the picture. With "The Science Of Cool" now gearing up, the one time comedy about a couple of high school nerds who transform themselves into the coolest kids in class is taking a more dramatic turn. The journey from child to adult actor can be tricky, but Lukas Haas has navigated the path quite well. First making a name for himself as the young man who starred opposite Harrison Ford in "Witness," Haas has emerged as a strong supporting player in recent years, taking roles in films as diverse as "Red Riding Hood," "Inception" and "Contraband." But he's going to be showing a whole other side in the forthcoming "Meth Head," where he takes the lead in a gritty, grimy drama.
Directed by Jane Clark, Haas plays Kyle Peoples, an accountant in his 30s, stuck in a dead end job, with a lover who is more successful than he and a family that doesn't get him at all. We told you Friday that Zachary Quinto was returning for the second season of American Horror Story, joining Jessica Lange. At the Paley Fest round table it was announced that hottie Evan Peters, along with Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe would also return. All Ryan Murphy will say is they're playing characters who are the opposite of what they played before, which is a shame, because I found Tate all sorts of sexy, in an ax murderer sort of way.

The first time moviegoers saw Lukas Haas was when he was the 9-year-old Amish boy in Witness, and ever since then we’ve watched him grow up.
The haunted little boy in Lady in White (1988), the alien-fighting teen in Mars Attacks! (1996), and the imperious drug kingpin known as The Pin in Brick (2005) are just a few of his memorable roles. But now he’s taking the lead in the new indie drama Meth Head, as a young man who falls into a Shame-like spiral after getting hooked on the stuff that makes even the most clean-cut souls break bad.
Check it out after the jump.

Every time I see Lukas Haas in a movie, I can't help but imagine that it is a sequel to Mars Attacks. As I watch this trailer for Meth Head, I'm compelled to believe that after the alien invasion, Haas' character was driven to drugs in order to cope with the millions of lives that died in the attack. Haas has always chosen interesting roles, and while this new trailer isn't exactly the “Feel-Good-Movie of 2012,” it looks pretty sharp for an indie-film, and...

The Salt Lake City native is new to Season 3 of HBO’s sultry paranormal drama, True Blood, and her character is Crystal Norris. The blue-eyed starlet enjoyed a long recurring stretch on the A&E series, The Beast.
History is shaping up to be a lucky influence in the actress’s life. Not only will she play in The Story of Bonnie and Clyde, but THR reports Pulsipher is working...

THR reports that True Blood‘s Lindsay Pulsipher will replace Hilary Duff in the role of legendary outlaw Bonnie Parker in The Story of Bonnie and Clyde.
Cypress Moon Studios producer Tonya S. Holly – who will be writing and directing the picture – had these comments:
“We are thrilled to welcome Lindsay Pulsipher as Bonnie Parker in The Story of Bonnie and Clyde. Lindsay will undoubtedly bring many layers to this critical role,” says producer Tonya S. Holly of Cypress Moon Productions in a statement. “This is a gripping story about two of the most legendary fugitives in history.”
And they would like to stress that it has absolutely nothing to do with Duff’s recent announcement that she and hockey player husband Mike Comrie are expecting their first child. Scheduling conflicts have gotten in the way.
This may be yet one more completely unnecessary remake of a pretty much perfect film,...

Despite protests from some cinephiles, a new Bonnie and Clyde movie is on its way. So far, though, the road has been bumpy. Hilary Duff and Kevin Zegers were initially set to play Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, the two lovebird bank robbers who rose to fame during the Great Depression. However, scheduling conflicts will prevent Duff and Zegers from assuming the roles. So writer/director Tonya S. Holly must look elsewhere to fill out the cast in time to shoot The Story of Bonnie and Clyde later this year in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Missouri. Holly and producer Tom Rogers have found their new Bonnie, at least, in Lindsay Pulsipher (True Blood). Because, as Holly told THR, "Lindsay will undoubtedly bring many layers to this critical role." Undoubtedly. Pulsipher is currently filming the History Channel miniseries The Hatfields and the McCoys. The actress has two independent features in the...

Lindsay Pulsipher is ready for a life of crime.
The "True Blood" star is set to die young and leave a good-looking (albeit bullet-ridden) corpse as she joins "The Story of Bonnie and Clyde," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Pulsipher will be playing the better half of the criminal duo, Bonnie Parker, a role to which Hilary Duff was originally attached. Meanwhile, the manhunt is once again on for someone to play Clyde Barrow now that Kevin Zegers ("Gossip Girl") has dropped out due to scheduling issues.
Bonnie and Clyde's story was previously told in director Arthur Penn's now-classic 1967 drama, "Bonnie and Clyde," which starred Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty in the title roles. Theirs are some pretty big shoes to fill (or guns to load, as it were), so much that not too many other (serious, anyway) cinematic takes on the legend of the doomed bank robberies have since been attempted.
