The Walking Dead had a massive cast, exploring the post-apocalyptic world through various perspectives and experiences. While the main characters were the focal point, like Maggie and Negan in Dead City, many minor characters deserved more recognition.
Some of these minor characters, such as earlier survivors like Dale and Cyndie from Oceanside, were positive representations. However, even antagonists like Gregory and Simon added to the complexity of the series. Not all of these Walking Dead characters made major impacts on the plot, but they all had interesting personalities and experiences that added representation to the complicated dynamic of survivors.

Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken brings a new kind of monster into the DreamWorks universe. The unique spin on popular mythology portrays krakens as anything but the hungry ship-eaters they are understood to be, with the titular Ruby Gillman and her family simply doing their best to live some semblance of a normal life on land. The film joyfully subverts expectations and, in true DreamWorks fashion, boasts enough heart and humor to be enjoyable for the whole family.
The film aims to blend sweeping mythological concepts with the reality of being a teenager, and smoothly accomplishes its goal with the help of music by Grammy-winning composer Stephanie Economou. Economou is known for work on a range of projects including Jupiter’s Legacy and Manhunt, but thanks to a long history of collaboration with composer Harry Gregson-Williams has also worked on beloved films like The Martian and the live-action Mulan. Universal and DreamWorks Animation's Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken brings the massive mythical sea creature into an entirely new light -- one that most people will be more familiar with than living as under the sea. Recasting the creature as a teenager going through life changes as she realizes her destiny -- and her true potential -- Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken plays with conventions of the high-school teen comedy and recasts it into a much larger space -- with the frequently funny and even occasionally beautiful animation bringing it to life.
During an interview with Cbr ahead of Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken's theatrical debut on Jun. 30, Director Kirk DeMicco broke down what caught his attention about the film's tonal balance of huge kaiju battles and relatable teenage angst, the way the film's animation designs reinforced the characters, and why it was so important to ground the film in emotional truths...

The Walking Dead’s final episode left several of the series’ biggest questions unanswered, and one of the most important things that audiences still want to know is exactly what happened to Oceanside. The camp was a walled fishing village in Virginia that played a large role throughout the series, with several important characters spending time there in search of refuge and supplies. Within the show, Oceanside became another symbol of human resistance against the dystopian world that The Walking Dead takes place in.
Eugene briefly mentioned the settlement’s name towards the end of The Walking Dead. However, it wasn’t clear whether Oceanside was still standing or if it had been completely destroyed like many other camps. There were many important moments throughout The Walking Dead that were related to Oceanside and its significance in the humans’ fight for safety, so it was disappointing for many audiences when...

Animal Kingdom's final episode proved to be an unlucky one for the Codys. Pope (Shawn Hatosy) and Craig (Ben Robson) met heartbreaking ends, while Deran (Jake Weary) was left to face the world alone. For longtime fans of the TNT drama, it was an expected but somber end for Oceanside's once-reigning crime family. And it all went up in flames (literally) because of J's (Finn Cole) big betrayal.
J's thirst for revenge had been hinted at throughout Animal Kingdom's earlier seasons, with him even promising in Season 3 to destroy everything Smurf (Ellen Barkin) ever loved and cared about. J's crusade stemmed from his desire to obtain justice for his mother, Julia (Jasper Polish), who Smurf essentially left to die. Thus, J decided to betray his uncles by stealing all their money and attempting to get them killed or locked away for life. However, a few problems resulted...
