Not really doing anything special but is still decent enough

Following the death of her brother, a woman and her friends return to her childhood home to check into the situation and see what's going on, eventually finding the cause of everything to be Krampus returning to exact revenge for an earlier transgression and must get away alive.

This was a genuinely solid and watchable genre effort. One of the better elements here is the rather strong setup that provides this with a workable means of getting to the action. This is mostly accomplished with the backstory about the parents' murder anniversary supposedly causing the murder of the brother that gets them to the house that the audience knows the truth about. This provides the kind of storyline connection to the creatures' appearance as the folklore motivation offers a fine connection with everything. That manages to provide this one with some rather nice attack scenes involving the creature sneaking up on people and knocking them off. The opening is suspenseful enough with the victim of the belief it's there leading to a decent cat-and-mouse sequence to start this off, while a series of quick ambushes elsewhere in the woods provides the setup to the finale where it crashes the group at the house. This is where it hits its stride offering some solid action around the house in a more urgent matter, providing some likable features here. There are some issues to be had with this one. The biggest drawback to the film is the completely unnecessary and overdone sideplot involving the cheating boyfriend on one of the group members. Not only is this exceptionally lazy as a means of making him far less sympathetic so his outcome doesn't mean anything, but it's so cliched and doesn't do anything to help advance any storyline within here as it follows through so many expected points. Dealing with all of this also causes the pace to stumble as the dull play out of these scenes is hard to get through. The other small factor to this one comes from the rather obvious low-budget limitations that crop up throughout the film. Not only is the static pace and lack of action here dead giveaways, but the single-location setup that requires everything to take place without anything fancy to take place is an obvious one as well. Also, the stiff and immobile mask for the creature which has an effective look and design but never fails to remind what it really is, which all combine together with the other factors to bring this one down.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Violence.

    This movie is bad

Krampus the Return (2022) is currently available on Tubi. The storyline follows a young lady who returns home where her brother disappeared when she was a kid. She discovers her long lost father was obsessed with a creature known as Krampus and believed he was responsible for her brothers disappearance. Will the sister's research lead to the return of Krampus?

This movie is directed by David Gregory (Curse of Bloody Mary) and stars Natasha Rose Mills (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey), Amber Doig-Thorne (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey), Dan Robins (Amityville Scarecrow 2) and Stephen Staley (Nutcracker Massacre).

This movie is bad. The voice used for the opening narration and Krampus was terrible. The costumes were not good and the kills were an action pose by Krampus, a scream and a cutaway scene. No good kills or gore to be found. The acting is average outside of the book reading scene which was awkward and didn't feel natural. That sequence was cheesy. There were no redeeming aspects to this picture.

Overall, this is a bad addition to the horror genre and Krampus series that really isn't worth your time. I'd score this a 2.5-3/10 and recommend skipping it.

So bad it's not quite good.

I love bad movies. If it makes B Movies look big budget and respectable I'm guaranteed to love it. This movie I did not love. Only one of the characters were likeable and after watching three times I have a headache and still don't understand the ending. I might watch it again in the future, but I'm never gonna to seek it out. I do admit that the female lead's acting actually proves itself, which is why I gave this train wreck three stars; her portrayal of a mentally and emotionally compromised woman seems wooden on the first watch through but proves itself accurate once you understand the character's history. Despite her, however, I don't recommend this movie unless you like bad movies that are truly awful.

    Terrible

It was low budget, boring, terrible, didn't keep my attention what so ever, waste of time , it sucked , it sucked, the acting was horrible, the costume looked like a diy costume, no character development, lazy kills, did I mention bad acting, I enjoyed the original krampus, but this was garbage. I can't get my time back from watching this bad movie, it wasn't scary , it was so bad it was actually comical to say the least . If I could give a half of star I would, don't waste your time watching this movie, stick to the original movie instead , one of the worst movies I have seen in a very long time. It sucked.

    Here's a NON-CGI Krampus, finally.

The journey for a good Krampus movie is an ongoing holiday tradition in my house. The big budget Krampus movie is worth watching, which I do pretty much every year.

And then there are so many atrocious Krampus movies with the worst acting and an even worse CGI Krampus. They are all terrible and not even watchable in a Sharknado type of way.

BUT-Now we finally have a Krampus in a rubber suit! It's a pretty good looking rubber suit, all things considered. But to be honest, it could be terrible and I would still like it better than the CGI Krampus. Krampuses. Krampi?

Is this movie cheap and bad? Well, yes. But is it garbage? Well...no.

I actually sort of enjoyed the characters in a high school play type of way. And yes, I liked Krampus. He talks in this one. And no, his mouth doesn't move. Lol. And when the camera zooms in on his hands, you can see the jiggly rubber suit in hd.

So does that sound like something you want to watch? If it does, you will enjoy this Krampus more than any of the last 15 or so since the big budget Krampus from 2015. And that film is a PG-13 film, whereas this one at least has syrupy blood and not the worst character conflict I've ever seen. In fact, at one point I was sort of caught off guard when someone interrupted the movie and I found myself backing it up by a couple of minutes so I could hear the characters' conversation. Yeah, I actually did that. Unironically.

So skip the hordes of pretender Krampus movies, and if you only watch one Krampus version this holiday season...

Well, honestly, in that case Krampus (2015).

But if you have seen that one a bunch of times or are in the mood for two (!) Krampus movies this holiday season....

    Check this one out.

    I kind of liked it.
