Milla Jovovich, Konstantin Khabensky, and Ivan Urgant in Vykrutasy (2011)

News

Vykrutasy

Tuesday Movie Poster round up
1. 11-11-11: Grade D

This is a very boring poster, but what I find amusing is the fact that we are supposed to be excited about the director of Saw II, III, and IV.

2. Barney’s Version: Grade C+

Besides the fun pastels and the 70’s sheen they appear to have pulled off with this film, Paul Giamatti’s perm is the best thing about this poster.

3. Red State: Grade B-

The third poster from Red State to appear on the round-up and they are progressively getting less interesting. But, the stylishly minimal approach still makes it better than most posters.

4. Kill The Irishman: Grade D

There is a lot going on in this poster, but none of it is good. It is a cluttered mess that makes me a little dizzy when I look at it. The cast for this film looks really interesting though.

5. Vikrutasi: Grade D

I’ll admit it,...

Milla Jovovich Stars With Nightwatch And Wanted Star Konstantin Khabensky In Russian Rom Com Выкрутасы (Vikrutasi)
Milla Jovovich in a romcom. Honestly I'm surprised this hasn't happened - and happened a lot - before now. And I'm even more surprised that for it to happen she had to go to Russia.

Jovovich is starring opposite Night Watch and Wanted star Konstantin Khabensky - who is looking increasingly weird as he ages - in Russian language romantic comedy Vikrutasi. Jovovich stars as an already engaged woman who attracts the eye of a lonely, single school teacher (Khabensky). And hilarity ensues. Check the trailer - Russian only - below.

Gareth Edwards Joins Forces With Timur Bekmambetov For Sci-Fi Thriller
We have been bringing you everything we can get our hands on about director Gareth Edwards indie sci-fi film Monsters, which stars Whitney Able and Scoot McNairy. Luckily there hasn’t been a shortage of posters, different versions of the trailer and a really cool behind the scenes featurette on the truly indie film.

Edwards recently debuted Monsters at the Toronto International Film Festival and according to Deadline, he also scored his next gig to write and direct a new, untitled sci-fi thriller that is being co-produced by director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Vikrutasi) and Jim Lemley (9).

No specific story details have been revealed but Edwards described the movie as “An epic human story, set in a futuristic world without humanity.”

Gareth Edwards‘ current film Monsters is slated to hit VOD, iTunes, Playstation Network, and Xbox Live on September 24th, theaters in NY and La on October 29th and UK theaters on November 12th.

Bekmambetov Wants Us Remake of 'Black Lightning'
With Wanted 2 in a state of who knows what, director Timur Bekmambetov might be lining up something to take its place. He's currently working on Tricksters with Milla Jovovich, and from there it's the thrilla The Darkest Hour. After that, he's got a few other things possibly in the works sooner than later, too, like Moby Dick and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

But he's reportedly negotiating with Universal to do an American remake of Black Lightning, a film he co-produced in his native Russia and which opened to $10 million there at the end of last year and it went on to gross a little over $20 million in Russia. That's awfully good business over there, more than Iron Man 2, for example.

Variety describes the sci-fi movie as a Slavic Transformers meets Batman featuring a gearhead student who tricks out an old Soviet sedan and runs into problems with organized crime.
