Universal Pictures has issued an apology (via Entertainment Weekly) for dubbing Laverne Cox’s dialogue in the Italian release of “Promising Young Woman” with a male actor. The Guardian first reported on the controversy May 12, noting the actor Roberto Pedicini was featured as the voice of Cox’s character. Trans actor Vittoria Schisano told the publication that using a male actor to dub Cox was “insulting,” adding, “I’d feel bullied if I were [Cox].”

“We are deeply grateful to Laverne and the transgender community for opening our eyes to a bias that neither we nor many in our industry had recognized,” Universal said in a statement. “While there was no malicious intent behind this mistake, we are working diligently to fix it. We have begun re-dubbing Ms. Cox’s voice with female actors in our international territories and are pushing back release dates to ensure the correct version is available.

Court is back in session at NBC. The network has formally given a pilot order to a spinoff of “Night Court” led by original series star John Larroquette and “The Big Bang Theory’s” Melissa Rauch.

The pilot, produced by Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, was penned by “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” production alum Dan Rubin, who will serve as both executive producer and writer on the reboot.

The original series that aired on NBC from 1984-1992 starred Harry Anderson as an offbeat judge who worked the late shift at a Manhattan court house. Rauch will play the jurist daughter of Anderson’s Judge Harry Stone. She presides over the same court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding (Larroquette).

Executive producing alongside Rubin are Rauch and her spouse Winston Rauch for After January Productions. Larroquette is also executive producing.

Big Mouth has found its new Missy.  Comedian and writer Ayo Edebiri will take over for Jenny Slate in the Netflix animated comedy, beginning at the end of season four. She will take on the role in the final two episodes of the season, and then will continue to voice the character in all future seasons.  Edebiri previously wrote for the NBC comedy Sunnyside and had joined Big Mouth as a writer for season five. Netflix has cast Jenny Slate’s replacement as Missy on its animated series Big Mouth, Deadline has confirmed.

The series’ co-creator, executive producer and star Nick Kroll said in June that the show would recast the voice role of Missy, a biracial character on the Netflix animated series, with a black actress. The role had been voiced by Slate for the show’s first three seasons.

“We made a mistake, took our privilege for granted, and we are working hard to do better moving forward,” Kroll wrote in a Twitter post at the time with fellow series creators Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett. “We are proud of the representation that Missy has offered cerebral, sensitive women of color, and we plan to continue that representation and further grow Missy’s character as we recast a new Black actor to play her.”

Two months after Jenny Slate announced she would no longer voice the character of Missy on “Big Mouth,” the Netflix animated puberty comedy has found her replacement: writer, producer, comedian and actor Ayo Edebiri.

“I was definitely a very uncomfortable child, so I think the show speaks to that and a lot of those feelings, which still resonate with me as an adult,” Edebiri tells Variety. “I’m back home in my childhood bedroom right now and on my bookshelf in between ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ is Bill Clinton’s autobiography and Nelson Mandela’s autobiography and a translation of ‘The Iliad’ in Latin. I was a true dork. So I don’t think I have to go too far to connect with Missy.”

Actress, director, producer and unstoppable force Tina Fey is adding Netflix content creator to her resume. “Mulligan” comes from the mind of Fey and partner Robert Carlock, who worked together on “30 Rock” and “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt;” they will act as executive producers on the animated comedy series.

“Mulligan” focuses on what’s left after humanity after Earth is invaded and attacked by aliens. Those left standing believe it’ll be an opportunity to do things right the second time around — but they lack the fundamentals of how to take care of themselves.

The duo have landed a 20-episode, straight-to-series order from the streamer for the animated comedy Mulligan. The comedy explores what happens after an alien attack destroys the Earth and how what remains of humanity has the chance to start society over from scratch.

Horror pics are making a return across the board as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime update their streaming platforms for the spooky season.

“The Shining” will kick off Netflix’s horror film slate, followed by “Truth or Dare” with Lucy Hale and Tyler Posey, “The Haunting of Molly Hartley,” and the Netflix original “The Haunting of Hill House.” Non-horror fans can also look forward to the addition of several big movies, including “Blazing Saddles,” “The NeverEnding Story,” and “Zack and Miri Make a Porno.” Additionally, “Marvel’s Daredevil” is returning for a third season alongside Season 2 of “Making a Murderer” and “Big Mouth.”

A teaser poster and a few new stills from Peter Facinelli ("Carlisle Cullen" in the Twilight Saga)'s latest film, Loosies, have been unveiled.

Peter Facinelli wrote, produced, and stars in Loosies, which he worked on last summer in Providence.

The storyline for Loosies is, loosely, that "Bobby" (Facinelli) is a pickpocket in New York City who lives fast and free until a woman he had a one-night-stand with, "Lucy" (Jaimie Alexander, who also joined Nurse Jackie this past season), comes forth and says that she's pregnant with his child.

This isn't the first script Facinelli's done which has gone through. Last year's Accidentally In Love was also his, and that was made for TV on the Hallm ...

Last year, Peter Facinelli got the chance to see not one but two of his own scripts made into film. The first was Accidentally In Love, which starred his wife Jennie Garth, and the second was Loosies, which he headlined himself.

Accidentally In Love premiered on The Hallmark Channel, and Loosies is still forthcoming.

In a new interview with Celebuzz, Facinelli released a couple of photos from Loosies and also shared a funny story from the set.

Young British actress Camilla Luddington has been deemed worthy to portray Kate Middleton in Lifetime's original movie "William & Kate," Deadline reports. Obviously, the film recounts the fairytale romance between Prince William and Middleton.

Nico Evers-Swindell had previously been cast as Prince William and Ben Cross is set to portray his father, Prince Charles. In order to have the film premiere around the same time as William and Kate's April 29 Royal Wedding, production is set to begin next week.

Luddington has appeared on several TV shows, including "The Defenders," "CSI," "Big Time Rush" and "Days Of Our Lives." She can next be seen in Hallmark's "Accidentally In Love."

Acting is not the only gig in Peter Facinelli's Hollywood portfolio. He's also a screenwriter, and it seems that a lot of his written works are now picking up speed.

For instance, The Delivery is one screenplay that Facinelli wrote and which is still in the pre-production stages.

Also, his wife Jennie Garth just wrapped filming for Mulligan, a project Facinelli wrote, on July 4th after having begun filming on June 10th (and tweeting this picture, among others, from the set).

The latest, though, is Loosies, a project that Peter Facinelli once described as being "about a pick-pocket in New York, who lives this carefree lifestyle, kind of like the Steve McQueen type, and he e ... Michael Corrente (also directing Paz) will direct, and Peter Facinelli will star as that "pick-pocket" Bobby.
