Ultraman Trigger: Episode Z

8/10

A good movie which Trigger deserves.

After the disappointing finale of Ultraman Trigger New Generation TIga, Ultraman Trigger Episode Z came out as a pleasuring surprise to bring Trigger back on track. This was a very well made Tokusatsu flick with good effects great action and well written characters. Unlike in the TV show where most of the Guts Select Crew members does not get any characterization, this movie gives them a way bigger role in the conflict and some pretty good character writing is presented here. I absolutely love the chemistry between Kengo Akito and Yuna in this story and their dialog is the best. The character of Zabil is also super interesting. As a villain he actually has a believable motivation and a laid out plan to accomplish his goals. This is a huge improvement when compared to the character of Carmearra in the show which basically threw all logic and IQ away and became nothing more than a gigantic Trigger fanatic. Zabil made the stake of this story so much bigger and better than Carmearra or any of the other two dark giants. There are a lot of praises I can give to this movie, its not perfect with the choreography being a bit weak and some dialogs still making little sense, but overall this was absolutely one of the best new generation Ultraman movies out there and a big improved on the tv show. The character of Kengo/Trigger had been wasted so badly in the show and its great to see him in a good story which he deserves.

the perfect ending for Ultraman Trigger

This is an amazing film. Unlike in the series, this film has good drama and conflict, the drama is very emotionally draining.

The CGI and combat are also very good, really pleasing to the eye. In this film Ultraman Trigger's Glitter Eternity form is very strong, unlike in the series which looks weak. The appearance of Haruki Natsukawa and Ultraman Z in this film is also very extraordinary, they are characters who are highly anticipated to appear in this film.

Evil Trigger's appearance as the main enemy in this film is also very good, he is a cruel character and he is much stronger than Trigger. What is clear is that this film is much better than the series.
