Loyal Lobos Debuts ‘Bummed,’ an Ethereal Anthem for Introverts
Image
Back in 2020, the singer-songwriter and guitarist Andrea Silva — who performs as Loyal Lobos — released her debut album Everlasting, a glowing collection of songs that captured her introspective lyricism and delicate, dreamy sound. Now, after recently signing with Saban Music Group, she’s back with a new single called “Bummed,” a gauzy anthem for introverts everywhere.

The track builds on Silva’s style: She’s sharper, upbeat, and more refined without losing her signature guitars and lithe production. Silva writes in both Spanish and English, and her music has always been confessional,...

How Years of Masking Autism Led to Sue Ann Pien's Acting Pursuit
Image
"As We See It" star Sue Ann Pien's early years as someone on the autism spectrum had a lot of influence on her decision to pursue acting. In a recent interview with "People," the 42-year-old actor explains that she often would "mask" or "camouflage" characteristics about herself that were not deemed "socially acceptable."

"I was taught from a very young age to act my way through life. I had a really strong, uncanny ability to pick up languages and different accents and I would just mimic. I would watch how people walk and it was like character study," Pien recalls. "And then I was like, I love this, I'm doing it anyway, why not do it professionally?"

The actor, ironically enough, was able to stop performing when she was cast on the Amazon Prime Video series as Violet, an autistic woman navigating adulthood and dating. "For so many aspects of Violet,...

Months have passed since the release of Avengers: Endgame to a rapturous welcome from fans and critics alike. The finer points of the movie are still being hotly discussed, and likely will be for several years. One of the biggest questions going forward that fans want an answer to is, Can the Black Widow death be reversed along with everyone else's who came back after the snap?

It is a loaded question, and one that takes direct aim at one of the McU's perennial problems. No deaths in their movies seem to actually stick. Loki has made a party trick out of pretending to die and then coming back from the dead. Agent Coulson conked out in the first Avengers, only to reappear in Agents of Shield.

Literally half of all living beings in the Marvel universe have died, only to return in the next film. When you play...

Avengers: Endgame Directors Explain Why Black Widow’s Death Couldn’t Be Reversed
Fans were shocked when Black Widow sacrificed herself so Hawkeye could claim the Soul Stone on Vormir halfway through Avengers: Endgame. As heartbreaking as it was, though, we kind of assumed that she would be resurrected with all the other heroes that died in Avengers: Infinity War at the end of the movie. Tragically, however, this was not to be, as it was explained that though Hulk attempted to bring her back when he reversed Thanos’ snap, it didn’t work for some reason.

If you’re wondering why that was, the Russos have now cleared up the mystery. While speaking on the commentary track for the film (available on Digital HD now), Joe Russo said that the key to understanding this is in paying close attention to what Red Skull tells them.

“Red Skull very clearly says, ‘It is an everlasting exchange. And ‘Everlasting’ would imply that it can’t be undone.

UnREAL Review: All In and Double Down
After Hulu's surprise release of UnREAL Season 4 this summer, it was up to fans to jump back on the Everlasting bandwagon. Now, UnREAL Season 4 Episode 1 takes an interesting turn by letting Rachel run completely loose on the set of Everlasting, glammed up and ready to go.

Season 3 left Rachel in the dust after Everlasting suitress finally realizes Rachel's scheming ways and rescinds her job offer, leaving Rachel in the lurch. She decides to return to the show and the job that she does so well, but she's back, blonde, and isn't playing around anymore.

Hulu makes an interesting choice with UnREAL, and you can clearly see its handiwork right off the bat. It prioritizes shock value over quality -- ironically enough, like the reality shows it chooses to satirize -- very meta.

Hulu's attempt to change up the format of Everlasting is too much to handle in its first episode.

‘UnReal’ Accepts Hulu’s Proposal For a Fourth and Final Season — Starting Right Now
Hulu has finally confirmed that Lifetime drama “UnReal” is moving to the streaming service for its fourth season. And here’s a twist: It’s debuting on Hulu today. And here’s another twist: This is, indeed, the series’ final season.

It’s a surprise move befitting “Everlasting,” the dating competition show-within-a-show that is the centerpiece of “UnReal.” Word of a deal between Hulu and series producer A+E Studios first leaked in May, but was never formally announced until today’s final reveal.

As part of the deal, “UnReal” will now be branded as a Hulu Original Series. Hulu already carries the off-net runs of the first three seasons of “UnReal,” which means the entire library — including all eight episodes of Season 4 — will be available on the service as of today.

“‘UnReal’ has captivated audiences on Hulu since season one, so when this opportunity came to us, we knew we couldn’t miss out,...

‘UnReal’: Final Season 4 Debuts On Hulu
The fourth and final season of Lifetime’s UnReal is now available for streaming in its entirety on Hulu. As part of a new deal between Hulu and A+E Studios, the final installment joins the first three seasons of the Peabody Award-winning drama series from Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and Marti Noxon. Deadline reported in May that Lifetime had sold the fourth season to Hulu for a first run. Hulu had previously acquired the exclusive Svod rights to the show in 2016.

Season 4 follows Rachel (Shiri Appleby) and Quinn (Constance Zimmer) as they return to the set of Everlasting for an “All-Stars” themed season, which features former contestants and a new format. Co-creator Shapiro and showrunner Stacy Rukeyser both return for Season 4. New cast members include François Arnaud, Natalie Hall, Meagan Holder and Alejandro Muñoz. Zimmer returns as director for one episode, and Appleby directs two episodes, including the series finale.

‘unReal': How the Fourth (and Final) Season Ended Up at Hulu
Unreal. Lifetime’s “unReal” is no longer Lifetime’s “unReal” — it is now Hulu’s “unReal,” multiple people with knowledge of a new first-run deal between A+E and the subscriber video-on-demand (Svod) service tell TheWrap.

The scripted look at the behind-the-scenes chaos surrounding the production of a dating competition program has shifted from a cable show with a second-run window on Svod to just a straight-up Svod series. At least it has done so for Season 4, which two of our sources tell us will be its last.

Here’s how it went down.

‘UnReal’ Moves To Hulu For Likely Final Season 4
The fourth and likely final season of Lifetime’s UnReal is moving to Hulu.

Lifetime sold the fourth season of the drama from Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and Marti Noxon to Hulu for first run, Deadline has confirmed. A+E Studios made money on the deal with Hulu and there are no expectations for Lifetime to order another season. That could change however, if the show does well on Hulu, it could be renewed, according to those familiar with the deal. Hulu is already the Svod home for the drama series.

The critically praised UnReal does not do well in linear, but it’s a popular show for binging and gets a bump in digital viewing, which is a perfect fit for Hulu. Season 3, which wrapped in April on Lifetime, has yet to air on Hulu.

Set against the backdrop of the hit dating competition show Everlasting, UnReal is led by...

Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer in Unreal (2015)
UnREAL's Truncated Season 4 to Premiere on Hulu (Report)
Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer in Unreal (2015)
The twists just keep on coming for UnREAL‘s fourth (and potentially final) season: The drama — which had its Season 4 episode order cut from 10 to eight last summer — will reportedly premiere on Hulu instead of Lifetime.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming video service — which already houses Seasons 1 and 2 of UnREAL — is nearing a deal to air Season 4 ahead of any potential run on Lifetime, if it airs on the cable network at all.

A premiere date has yet to be determined for the Bachelor takedown’s fourth season, which THR reports could be the series’ last.

UnREAL Season Finale Review: Where Is UnREAL Now?
Before the third season of UnREAL even began, viewers, critics, and fans all asked the same question: Will the third installment breathe new life into the struggling series?

Can the writer’s course correct the show from a disappointing second chapter, and return our beloved series to what it once was... F*cking great TV?

The verdict has been in for a while now: The third run is better than the second, but definitely not as good as the first.

Kicking the new season off with guns blazing, UnREAL Season 3 tended to be its most delicious when it served up stories we hadn’t seen play out in the past.

Like with Madison ...

Little Maddy started in UnREAL Season 1 in pigtails as a newbie Pa, blowing Chet in the candle closet, but has come a long way during Season 3.

She's still relying on her youth and sexuality to secure her spot in the industry,...

Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer in Unreal (2015)
‘UnREAL’ Star Adam Demos on That Awkward Finale and August’s ‘Everlasting’ Return in Season 4
Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer in Unreal (2015)
(Spoiler alert: Please do not read ahead unless you’ve seen the season 3 finale of “UnREAL” that aired Monday.)

“UnREAL” got pretty darn real in its Season 3 finale on Monday. The two back-to-back episodes saw drama on-screen for Serena (Caitlin FitzGerald) and her suitors and off-screen for Quinn (Constance Zimmer), Rachel (Shiri Appleby) and the rest of the “Everlasting” production crew, with Rachel even leaving the show all together come episode’s end.

One of the catalysts for another bit of fuss was Adam Demos’ outspoken Aussie August, a contestant vying for Serena’s affections. August expresses some beliefs on-camera about the military and fellow suitor Owen (a veteran played by Alex Hernandez) at a fundraiser that don’t sit well with everyone. Including Serena, who kicks him out of her Final Three on the spot.

Of course it’s revealed that all of this was set up by Rachel to create a distraction on behalf of Quinn, who was about to be fired from the network in public at the shindig. And, as you’ll remember, these are the two women August had a love triangle with earlier in the season.

Because Demos is already set for Season 4 of “UnREAL,” TheWrap had to get to the bottom of how he felt about that awkward exit and what his return for a game of “Everlasting: All Stars” will mean for Rachel and Quinn.

“You got to see August going on, and myself and Alex pick their sides and what they truly believe in and go head to head,” Demos tells TheWrap. “I thought it was cool because of that. But it was unfortunate that Serena didn’t choose me [August] because the bond that she had with August was, she was able to let go of that so called ‘real world.’ And August is free living. So I feel it was a shame that came to a head and she felt like she had to go back to what some people call a normal life.”

Also Read: 'UnREAL' Unveils Female Suitor's Drama in Season 3 First Trailer (Video)

When Demos returns in the fourth installment it will be to get back into the “Everlasting” game once more, despite that awkward exit. And this time it’s for a special edition of the reality dating series.

“‘Everlasting: All-Stars’ is made up of the audiences favorite previous contestants, so [the writers] have made up ones from the previous seasons and so I come back for that reason because I’m a fan favorite,” Demos says. “But also, August comes back himself, you think it’s stupid for him to go back after being manipulated, but he comes back to promote his brand. Because as funny as it all was, he actually does start up these companies and start making money for these charities.”

“So he comes back to build his profile, but then on top of that, the ‘UnREAL’ writers bring him back because the dynamic he had with Rachel and Quinn was so strong — good and bad — that it’s going to be so much more,” Demos continued. “And the relationship with Quinn and Rachel goes so much deeper and so much further. And it is the catalyst for a lot of big things that happen in Season 4. The whole point of ‘UnREAL’ is Quinn and Rachel, so if you aren’t part of their storyline there is no point. But August has a big part in that in Season 4.”

Remote Controlled: ‘UnReal’ Creators on Season 3’s Suitress, Plus Bill Hader and Alec Berg on ‘Barry’
Welcome to “Remote Controlled,” a podcast from Variety featuring the best and brightest in television, both in front of and behind the camera.

In this week’s episode, Variety‘s executive editor of TV, Debra Birnbaum, talks first with the creators of “UnReal,” Stacy Rukeyser and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, along with castmembers Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and Genevieve Buechner, in a panel recorded at Scad’s aTV festival in Atlanta.

The creative team behind “UnReal” said that the idea of a female “suitress” on in-show reality competition “Everlasting” had been brewing for a long time. “We wanted to look at… the smart successful woman who’s climbing the ladder at work, but the higher up she gets, the harder it is to find a man. Why is that?” says Rukeyser. “That seemed like it would be the perfect avatar for Quinn and Rachel to project all of their issues.” Adds Shapiro of Rachel,...

UnREAL Season 3 Episode 5 Review: Gestalt
If it is true, in fact, that "Life is in the journey not the destination," we've been through one hell of a trek to get to the midpoint of of UnREAL Season 3!

It certainly hasn't been easy to watch four of the fiercest women on television employ an eat or be eaten mentality when it comes to the business, the battle, the war, and the game that is ... the making of Everlasting.

On UnREAL Season 3 Episode 5, the tides turn with great gusto, as the lady bosses grab their balls and take the respect they deserve.

Their power plays come in various forms -- with the refusal to eat (some) shit, as a matter of self-respect, in confronting the truth and moving forward despite it, and/or in rising up against a common enemy.

Together, the UnREAL frienemies aren't just strong, they're f**king unstoppable!

UnREAL Season 3: Who Will Win & Who Will Die?
UnREAL season 3 changes things up on lowbrow reality dating show Everlasting, with a suitress instead of a suitor, and a whole host of hunky bachelors vying for her affections. But beyond finding Serena (Caitlin FitzGerald) the perfect match and creating plenty of ratings gold along the way, Quinn (Constance Zimmer) and Rachel (Shiri Appleby) have a more basic challenge ahead of them: get through a whole season of Everlasting without anyone getting killed.

UnREAL goes to some very dark places, as it is wont to do
We’re only at episode four of the season, but already UnREAL has landed in a superdark place. Junkie Alexi might be the most painful contestant we’ve witnessed on this show since Mary went off her meds in season one. What’s worse, Jay, usually the only voice of reason on Everlasting, has sold his soul by enabling…

UnREAL Season 3 Episode 4 Review: Confront
Dear August,

How we've lusted after you and your man bun!

So much, in fact, that each of us has either had, almost had or still wants to have, a piece of you.

Yet at this juncture, we find ourselves on the verge of change.

Hope you had a few good nights' sleep in that hammock.

Because as of now, it's Game On!

- Quinn, Rachel, and Serena

On UnREAL Season 3 Episode 4, the formidable fight for the Suitress takes an aggressive turn when Madison discovers August's severed man bun.

The first sign of impending war, it indicates a palpable shift of energy both on camera and behind the scenes.

"Bunghazi" and the Dumb-Ass idea of an on-set reporter become the two slices of bread holding this Everlasting sandwich together.

But the meat of this meal is the forward movement of our main characters -- as Rachel, Quinn, Serena, Jay...

'UnREAL' May Be Fake, but the Storylines Are Scary Similar to 'The Bachelor'
We knew we were in for a ride when UnREAL, the scripted show created by a former producer from The Bachelor, first hit our screens back in 2015. The show promised to give viewers a peek behind the scenes of a fictional show called Everlasting that was clearly little more than a stand-in for the ABC reality competition. Not only that, it hinted that this was how The Bachelor really worked, all backed up by Sarah Gertrude Shapiro's real experiences, which she detailed in a profile with The New Yorker. The series is, of course, "one hundred percent fiction," but it also has "the truth of what it was like on The Bachelor is baked in." Former Bachelor contestant Olivia Caridi called the show "scary accurate", explaining, "Obviously there's a little hyperbole involved in UnREAL. [But] there’s a reason Chris Harrison and The Bachelor are bothered by it... It was...

UnREAL Season 3 Episode 2 Review: Shield
If you were at all worried that UnREAL Season 3 started off Smokin' Hot, but might quickly cool down, it's safe to say things have only gotten hotter!

On UnREAL Season 3 Episode 2 that show within a show is more complex than ever. With the Suitress finding her groove on Everlasting, it’s all about how Serena’s going to play the game to land her husband.

Behind the scenes, we get a more in-depth dive into a few of the relationships, most notably Rachel and Quinn’s.

On set, they are mentor and mentee, boss and second in command. Yet beyond their professional connection lies a great deal of love and respect between the women in charge. They really do need and love each other. No doubt, Rachel, and Quinn share a (rather dysfunctional) mother/daughter relationship.

That is why what happens next is so incredibly f**ked up; because you...

Constance Zimmer Didn't Watch The Bachelor Until She Was Cast in UnREAL: 'It Was Never My Thing'
Constance Zimmer
Sometimes art doesn’t imitate life — and truth be told, Constance Zimmer never considered herself a part of Bachelor Nation.

She may play a producer on UnREAL, a behind-the-scenes show about a fictional dating competition show, but before being casted as Quinn, Zimmer didn’t spend her Monday nights tuning in to The Bachelor.

“I never watched it,” the 47-year-old tells People in this week’s issue. “It was never my thing. I watched it because when I got cast on the show, I read a script and I was so confused. I didn’t understand what this was, so...

UnREAL's Caitlin FitzGerald Reflects on Svu, New Girl, Rectify and More Roles, Talks Everlasting's Lady-Led Season
Caitlin FitzGerald
According to Caitlin FitzGerald, we all have a little Bachelor or Bachelorette in us.

It’s a good thing she does, as she plays Serena, Everlasting’s first female suitor in the third season of UnREAL, premiering Monday, Feb. 26, at 10/9c on Lifetime.

To catch up those of you that haven’t seen the show, UnREAL is a drama that follows the behind-the-scenes chaos that goes into producing Everlasting, a Bachelor-type reality-show-within-the-show.

“This crazy thing that I discovered when we were shooting UnREAL is that it’s so part of the culture, those shows, that when it came to things like the elimination ceremonies,...

Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer in Unreal (2015)
‘UnREAL’ Season 3 Review: Better But Still Messy, Lifetime’s Drama Leaves You Wanting More
Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer in Unreal (2015)
Let’s get this out of the way: “UnREAL” Season 3 still lacks the scintillating spark that made the show’s debut must-see TV, but it has also made marked, knowing improvements after a sophomore run that crashed and burned (so to speak). The first five episodes are so annoying uneven, it’s hard to settle on a declarative reaction. On the one hand, using a suitress (rather than a suitor) to wisely keep the focus on women pays off in better arcs for Quinn (Constance Zimmer) and Rachel (Shiri Appleby) — so yay, “UnREAL” is good again! But on the other, the suitress herself (played by the wonderful Caitlin Fitzgerald) is poorly utilized, and just when the show starts rolling, it inexplicably and maddeningly derails itself — so boo, “UnREAL” is still a mess.

At its peak, Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro’s behind-the-scenes satire of reality TV made you hate...

If you watch UnREAL online, you know at the end of UnREAL Season 2, we saw Rachel (Shiri Appleby) and Quinn (Constance Zimmer) back on top, once again cleared of all responsibility for the havoc they wreaked on-set of Everlasting. But if you thought girls ruled UnREAL last season, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Michael Massee in Blacklist (2013)
The Hollywood community is in mourning once again, as another actor, one who had an unfortunate role in one of showbusiness' most mysterious tragedies, passed away. Michael Massee, the actor who accidentally shot and killed up and coming star Brandon Lee on the set of The Crow, has passed away at the age of 61. No specific details on his death were immediately available at this time.

Variety confirmed the actor's death with his agent, after the news first circulated on actor Anthony Delon's Instagram page on Monday. The actor worked with Michael Massee on the French TV series Interventions which premiered in 2014. Michael Massee played "Funboy" in The Crow, which was only his second movie role ever, and he reportedly never watched the film because of the tragedy on set that resulted in the death of Brandon Lee.

Panic Fest 2016 Review: Everlasting Fragments A Young Woman's Fall
A young woman runs laughing in a field - and in a blur. "Catch me!", she shouts, eluding both her addressee and even the camera's focus. Sunlit, soft and slo-mo, the opening images of Anthony Stabley's Everlasting may suggest something ideal and Edenic - and yet these are also the genesis of a film-within-the-film, and by the time we are seeing them, many months after they were shot, their Eve is long dead, and their idyll has become an elegy. High school senior Matt Ortega (Adam David) had tried to capture the fleeting image of his girlfriend Jessie (Valentina De Angelis) on digicam for a video project. Yet since then, Jessie had exiled herself from Matt in her pursuit of work as a model, and...
