“9 Windows” (2024) by Lou Simon tells the story of a woman confined to her room searching for opportunities to troll and abuse anybody she dislikes online. However, this tendency is symptomatic of her traumatic history. The event that has left her confined to the room and the wheelchair has also confined her to a mental state that is irrational and highly unhealthy. This is a story of Liza and the extremities of the occurrences on the internet that in turn help her find a way back to healing.

Online identities offer a sense of freedom, which can be liberating in its own way, but at the same time, people also tend to abuse the freedom to propagate vile, toxic actions anonymously. Which is why it can be argued that how one chooses to behave in the virtual landscape, where accountability is easier to ignore than it is in real life, can prove to be a litmus test of their character. Lou Simon’s 9 Windows tiptoes around these ideas while venturing into the world of cybercrime and online voyeurism, but despite showing real potential for a complex, nuanced narrative with its premise, it settles for a tedious, predictable serial killer investigation. It is surprising in a sense as to how the first half of the movie sets up an interesting plot by introducing a protagonist whose personal demons highlight the central issues the movie wants to address directly...

Indie film distributor Gravitas Ventures has secured U.S. and Canadian rights to “Between The Beats,” a feature documentary chronicling San Francisco’s early 1990s rave scene and its lasting impact on the Bay Area.
Directed by Martin O’Brien and produced by O’Brien and Mike Koeppel, the film features prominent figures from the era, including Brian Behlendorf, DJ Harvey, DJ Dan and DJ Doc Martin. It examines the DIY ethos and psychedelic community spirit that defined the scene.
The documentary explores how the all-night electronic music dance parties attracted diverse crowds and became catalysts for many attendees who later became significant players in Silicon Valley, global dance music and activism.
O’Brien, who was involved in creating the San Francisco rave scene, said: “The film was made to take viewers on a journey back to an early ’90s music scene that has since grown into the hugely popular Edm/electronica phenomenon across the globe.

“It’s Rear Window… with a twist” is always a fun marketing hook for a horror movie – my personal favorite is 1981’s Road Games, which is essentially Rear Window on the road – and the latest film to put a new spin on the Alfred Hitchcock classic is this year’s 9 Windows.
It’s Rear Window… for the screenlife generation. Exclusively watch the trailer below.
9 Windows will release October 15 on digital and cable VOD.
Written and directed by Lou Simón, the upcoming screenlife horror movie stars William Forsythe, Michael Paré, Diana Garle, Christopher Millan and Jason Hignite.
“On the day of her graduation, Liza and her parents are driving to a restaurant to celebrate when a truck slams into their car. Eighteen months later, Liza is unable to walk and lives alone after her parents’ death. Feeling responsible, Liza spends her days trolling vloggers on a local website. Late one night,...
