Jogwa is considered to be cult classic with respect to the sensitive topic it handled and won many accolades throughout Maharashtra as well as in Indian annual Film National awards. Music Director Duo Ajay Gogavale & Atul Gogavale (Better known as Ajay-Atul and are real brothers) won The National Award for best music in 2009 Indian Annual National Awards. Notably Singers Hariharan (South Indian) & Shreya Ghoshal (Bengali) won the National Awards for singing in Male & Female category for the song "Jeev Rangala" featured on lead actors Upendra Limaye & Mukta Barve which is a Marathi song.
On the centenary of Indian cinema in April 2013, Forbes included Upendra Limaye's performance in the film on its list, "25 Greatest Acting Performances of Indian Cinema".
Turning point for Mukta Barve who became a star after the film.
Upendra Limaye won the best actor National Award.
The story is adapted and based on three novels - Chaundak and Bhandar Bhog by Dr Rajan Gavas and Darshan by Charuta Sagar.
