Park So-dam in Special delivery (2022)

Special delivery

Not a masterpiece, but it won't let you down either

This movie is a combination of Baby Driver (2017) and Extraction (2020), but not as good. However, The protagonist's act is awesome and like other korean movies, the action is pretty good. So you might wanna give it a try if you've got nothing else to watch, just remember that you can enjoy it even though it's not a masterpiece.

a classic is the best

A woman professional driver, doing special delivery with thrilling car chasing and some action skills. She works in a unique business. She can deliver packed (illegal items or gangster) to wherever they need to go

The production is good, scores, editing are awesome. This movie is really straightforward, well paced and exciting, story a bit out of places, there's a lot plot left undone but still entertaining and watchable

The character, eun-ha really stand out here, she carried the whole film. The actors did really a great job in here, makes so much fun to watch. This movie is very much enjoyable.

Generic story but well delivered car action

A specialist driver winds up lumbered with a kid who is being chased by gangsters who want a key fob off of him which will give them access to loads of money. This South Korean movie mixes odd couple dramatics and comedy in with some high-octane car chase action. It definitely is surer of footing with the latter material, as the story-line is pretty basic, with stereotypical characters and plot developments. The action scenes, however, are rather good, with some nice touches added here and there to make them memorable. The South Korean setting is nice as always too. These types of movies often have generic stories to be fair, so none of that is exactly a deal-breaker here and my advice would be to check it out if you appreciate either car movies or South Korean cinema in general.

A nice past time movie

It mimick the west but still lack a bit. The story is mormal but the action is better. Some no logic story but director and writer still stubborn persist. So this minus points for the major logic problem.

Max 6.5/10 and reccomended watch at home, not worth for cinema.

Does the job

You know that the Koreans have by now perfected the art of the action thriller, so it comes as no surprise that SPECIAL DELIVERY is an above-average film. It stars the girl from PARASITE as an expert driver whose job is to take on high paying but illegal driving jobs. As happens so often in Korean cinema, she soon has to take care of a kid who the bad guys are after, and things go from there. This has a good mix of car chases, plotting and action, including a bravura fight set-piece that really works. The burping kid is annoying at times but the villain is charismatic and I always like the way that Korean cinema takes the time to show what the bad guys are up to as well as the heroes.

Car Chase - Car Change

That movie is ok for me, but what i dont understand is why they allways Change the Car for Drift scenes.

In the movie its a BMW E34, for Drift Scenes they use a BMW E39. Why? And they do not try to hide it. In Minute 6 when she drives out of the tunnel, than again when she crosses the rails and again when she grabs that boy.... thats really not nice.

Entertaining

That's the Korean movies i like. Action packed with some comedy. The main plot is predictable and it's been visited countless of times. However, anyone watching this is not here for an original story. The movie is just fun to watch. Park So-Dam is really good in this action movie. I rarely see her doing this kind of film. The little kid can be annoying at time but that's what the scenario is calling for.

Get some pop corn ready, you will enjoy it! Worth watching.

What a shame!

With such a cool female actor to do the stunt (not sure she really did it), this movie could be a very unique, exciting and very suspenseful thriller, but it was totally ruined by a stupid screenplay and a moronic director. After he is exposed on the baseball scandal, how come the guy who wants to escape abroad with his son still has the time and mood to throw baseball in the stadium? How come not only in a hurry to change place to hide? How come he and his son's luggage not prepared early until the last moment when the bad guys knocking on his door, then he starts to stuff things into his son's baggage? The boy is such an annoying kid crying so loud in the hotel room and, again, those bad guys come right after when the she-driver comes back. What a nice timing sequence again! But the most cliched scenario is that the worst guy is so coincidentally also the chief detective of the police force! So many stupid scenarios patched up in a very stupid screenplay to the brink you want to quit watching. The only thing that make you hang on is the cool young actress who played the special delivery driver. I give 5 out of 10 only for the cool actress, but the whole movie should be 1/10.

whoever is reading this, go see it

CGI can't compare with Hollywood's A class films, but everything else is awesome, the story, script, actors(especially the girl and the kid ), directing, music, editing, whatsoever is just beyond good, a must see movie, seriously !!!!! Fast and furious can't even compare 10 mins of it!!! I am not Korean, but this film will make you love Korean films, girls and kids!!!

Again, the story is just great great and great !!!

Predictable but watchable

Special Delivery isn't really all that special. That's not to say its bad, either.

This is very much your formulaic action romp, with fast cars and a humanistic twist, to add an emotional component.

It's utterly implausible but then you are not supposed to take this one seriously. Its "sort of" a light watch, if you can look past the propensity for extreme heavy violence, that seems to be inherent in a lot of South Korean cinema.

Acting is competent, with some well known faces from the Korean acting fraternity to balance out the otherwise youthful lead actors.

In summary, lots of over the top action with a heart. Worth a look.

Great action packed movie

If you want high level entertainment then see this movie. The acting is absolutely believable and very well done. Park so Dam is super in this role. You feel the tucked away emotions that surface again at moments like when she sees the boy play.

All the actors perform very well.

The directing might have slipped at some points as there are minor discrepancies in the story line and in human behavior given a certain circumstance, but the movie overall is highly entertaining and mixes humor, action and good drama.

All in all a great movie that beats it's American same themed movies on all points.

Boring and unlikable characters

This is a very tough movie to recommend. Gangster crime thriller + car drifting should be the perfect genre, but sadly it missed the mark completely.

First problem is the lead actress. They made her the reluctant hero, but also in the process made her completely unlikable. Why exactly does she hate children? It's never explained. She looks like a High school student but has the personality of a thug obsessed with money. How is the audience supposed to relate to this?

The script is dull and boring. It's basically a mishmash of every movie in this genre but done worse. Are these professional drivers for the mafia, or Is it a part time job for students? If these are professionals then why are they completely helpless when the first conflict arises?

Make my (delivery) day

It's been a while since I saw Transporter, but I think the comparisons are there and can be made. Of course this is a slick piece of ... action and it is also quite funny. The Jesus and Moses quote is something that will get a laugh out of you. At least - and there are other bangers too. Also the stunts are off the hook. No pun intended.

Having a female driver also gives this a special touch - and boy is she good. The boy is also really good. The kid actor that is. But don't be fooled, just because there is a boy and a cat in this, it doesn't mean the movie pulls its punches. No sir - quite the opposite we get some really brutal scenes. Even with characters we probably sympathize with ... that's why this will keep you guessing until the end. And probably way after that - especially because of that scene ... how do you break free from that, right? Whatever that means and you will only know once you've seen the movie.

Korean cinema shows us once again, that is able to rival Hollywood ... in more than one sense.

Didn't leave a skidmark

Story and characters are all cardboard cut-outs, but fine, I chose this movie because I wanted to see some nice car pursuits and unfortunately it did not deliver on that front either. All the action was serviceable but not very exciting. For one: the first action scenes are a bit VFX heavy, like the drift parking, the train or other near collisions. The CG takes the wind out of the sails of a good car stunt in my opinion, so it wasn't the best choice to start with.

The other reason is that there aren't any memorable moments in the car chases, they lack rythm, tension or a satisfying climax. They should have watched a movie like THE DRIVER (1978) or THE SEVEN-UPS (1973) to learn how to create tension (advantages / disadvantages).

There is one brief car action in a parking house which was ok, but the ending is ripped off from DRIVE (2011), I guess it's a hommage since the villain car is exactly the same to the one in Drive from the highway chase. There were quite a few scenes that seemed to be lifted from DRIVE without any of the energy, but I'm not getting into that. Hell, Jackie Chan's Thunderbolt (1995) was a mediocre movie too, but the car stunts at least delivered.

At the heart of this movie is the growing friendship between the loner Eun-ha and a kid. Now, we've seen this constellation million times before, that is not the problem here. But at the end of the day it has to be believable and at least mildly interesting. Needless to say that wasn't really the case and I was mostly bored with the characters and the story. The only outstanding thing I can remember is the performance by Heo Dong-won. He's the main antagonist and makes such weird acting choices, especially his laugh which is more like a repressed tick than an actual laugh. He's the only one that provides some fun,and everytime he's on-screen the movie becomes alive for hot minute. The downside is that he sometimes comes off less menacing in some scenes.

4 out of 10.

Teuksong, or Special Delivery, was a great surprise of a Korean thriller I saw recently

This movie took me by surprise when I watched it on a bus in The Philippines on a two-hour ride from city to city. A young woman drives real fast at night with some passengers who don't know what they're getting into. That beginning hooked me right from the get-go, that's for sure! From there, we segue to some bad men needing something from somebody or that somebody will get hurt. Also, a little boy is involved. And the young woman's superior. And her friend. And a cat of hers. Anyway, this was quite a thrill ride of a Korean film with English subtitles provided. Nice to find out two of the players were in the Oscar-winning Parasite. I really liked this one. So that's a recommendation of Teuksong, or Special Delivery as I knew it as.

Everything was excellent

I was curious after finding out how Park So Dam got ready for her role and the determination she put into the preparation. The cast of this film is excellent, everyone did a great job to make the film entertaining. The story was also very good, gripping and natural even tho it felt boring (like the plot was dragging) at some moments Overall, I enjoyed the film very much. Even the effects (blood, shooting et cetera...looked very well made). Park So Dam did a great job, truly enjoyed her acting here.

SOUTH KOREAN ( A+ Movie ) My Ratings 8.5 /10

This barrelling action thriller has been billed as a Korean Fast and Furious, but takes a swift handbrake turn into something considerably darker and more introspective. Park So-dam, fresh off her staggering performance in the Academy award winning Parasite, is superb as Eun-ha. She's badass. With some well choreographed set pieces and strong performances, Special Delivery is a perfect popcorn action film for an evening of entertainment. Written and directed by Park Dae-min, this thrilling action film proves that even when you take a basic story that we've seen a hundred times, Asia (especially Korea) just does it better than the West. Yes, a lot of the story beats are the same - corrupt cops, a protagonist who has to care for a child that they didn't want to look after, fast cars - but what sets it apart from its American peers is that the performances and set pieces feel genuinely more adrenaline inducing and engaging.

I loved

Everything tailored, action parts, a lot of chasing, crazy car effects, I was quite entertained, I especially liked the performances of these two women Yeom Hye-ran and So-dam Park, good acting quality.

This movie is not bacillating, many places, they are not one of those movies that occupy the same place to do everything.

I recommend it to be seen, by those who like to watch fast and furious movies, this is the humble version with the same quality.

Great enjoyable movie

I enjoyed this movie very much. Lots of action, clever plot twists. Nice to have a female winner & I loved her driving tricks to evade the bad guys. Watching with English subtitles was fine. I didnt catch all of the plot but enough to enjoy the drama. What is a fob anyway? Oh, yeah a security remote control key... had to google that! Now I just have to write enough to make up 600 characters. Really why is this necessary. I dont know who dreamt up this requirement, but I think it is totally ridiculous. I already said what I wanted to, but you need me to add garbage sentences to get to the magic number????
