Blake Lively's Another Simple Favor Achieved an Undesirable Rare Feat on Rotten Tomatoes
Image
Since the end of Gossip Girl, which aired for six seasons on The CW from 2007 to 2012, Blake Lively has struggled to find a project that would delight fans and audiences. Her big hit came in 2018 with the adaptation of A Simple Favor.

Although Lively has had other commercially successful films, like 2015's romance drama The Age of Adaline and the 2016 survival horror The Shallows, A Simple Favor was both a critical and commercial success, and her only film as a leading lady to receive positive reviews from both critics and the audience. The first installment was based on Darcey Bell's novel of the same name, and, although there is no follow-up to the book, the team reunited for Another Simple Favor. The sequel premiered in early March at the South by Southwest Festival to critical acclaim, yet that has slowly shifted asAnother Simple Favor has reached an unwanted feat...

Netflix is dropping 52 movies and 7 series next week
Image
Every month, Netflix has to purge some of its catalog and make room for new arrivals. Still, the first week of April 2025 is rough. If you wanted to catch many of the films below, you have two days left.

There is no way to binge-watch everything that is leaving. That is true even if you line up several TVs and your computer(s) next to each other and play different things at once. Don't do that because that would be weird (or would it?).

Several franchises are leaving on day one of the month. The excellent Rush Hour films and early Karate Kid movies are gone, as are several animated movies that are worth watching. Here is everything that is leaving in the first week of the month, though.

The first week of April 2025 will find 52 movies and seven series leaving NetflixApril 1An Affair to Remember (1957)Baby Driver (2017)Boyz n the Hood...

10 Best Blake Lively Movies & TV Shows, Ranked
Image
Some know her as the "it" girl of Manhattan, others as the entrepreneurial wife of Hollywood's smarmiest Canadian or the best friend of everyone's favorite pop singer. Some may even know her more recently from the drama surrounding "It Ends With Us" co-starring director Justin Baldoni. Wherever you were first introduced to Blake Lively, one thing has been certain ever since her career first started: She was born to be a Hollywood A-lister, one way or another.

However, despite Lively's name frequently appearing in headlines over the past few months, some pop culture enthusiasts may have never watched one of her movies or TV shows. Despite being a bonafide box office draw with even her most critically-panned projects, Lively has gained more of a reputation from her flashy outfits at the Met Gala than from her work as an actress. Although she has yet to garner any acclaim at prestigious award shows like the Emmys,...

Did Blake Lively Turn the Murder of Her Family Member into a Joke?
Image
Ever since It Ends with Us came to be transformed from a book into a live-action movie last year, a lot of fire has been surrounding Blake Lively, the film’s lead, for one too many reasons. While the allegations against her are one thing amidst her ongoing lawsuit with Justin Baldoni, she seems to be further drowning in deep waters as controversies enclosing her continue to rise.

For one, quite a few new pieces of evidence and interview excerpts have resurfaced from the past, which is now making everyone question Lively’s stance of being the victim who was s-xually harrassed by Baldoni on the sets of the said film. One of these includes the actress allegedly turning one of her family member’s murder into a joke, which is nothing short of sickening.

Netflix dropping 41 movies and 2 series on April 1 (catch them now)
Image
March has been fun for Netflix and will end with some fine additions. But be prepared. April is going to see a lot of changes. In other words, get ready to watch a lot of stuff quickly.

41 movies alone will be leaving Netflix at the beginning of next month. If you love such franchises as Rush Hour, you might want to binge-watch the first three films over the next week. Those will be leaving your favorite streamer on the first day of April.

The first three Karate Kid movies will be moving on as well. This is bad timing, as there will be a "new" Karate Kid flick coming to theaters in May. That one will star Ralph Macchio (of course) and Jackie Chan and is titled Karate Kids: Legends. The best scenario would be to see the previous films on Netflix before there is a theatrical release of a new addition to the series.

A24 Hit Horror Movie With 90% Rotten Tomatoes Score Makes It Onto Netflix Chart Shortly After Platform Debut

A24 has become one of the leading producers in horror over the past decade. Most recently, their horror film Heretic succeeded at the box office and among critics, scoring an impressive 91% Tomatometer. The central Heretic performance by Hugh Grant has also garnered attention at awards ceremonies, earning the actor nominations at the Golden Globe and BAFTA awards. 2024 also saw the release of other A24 horror films including Y2K, The Front Room, MaXXXine, and I Saw The TV Glow.

But even before last year, A24 has been cultivating directorial talents in the horror genre for years. The company added other indie auteurs to its growing list of directorial collaborators, including Clerks helmer Kevin Smith, who directed their wacky 2014 horror film Tusk. Another director...

The One Missing Character Who Must Return For Jesse Stone 10 (Not Viola Davis' Molly)

Why Blake Lively's Adaline Stopped Aging In The Age Of Adaline
Image
Adaline Bowman's aging (or lack thereof) in The Age of Adaline provides a key part of the framework for the movie. Adaline Bowman was born near the beginning of the 20th century, but finds herself in the early 21st century looking as young as ever, having stopped aging many decades earlier in Lee Toland Krieger’s 2015 romantic fantasy.

Narrator Hugh Ross ascribes her extraordinary physical condition despite having lived for more than a hundred years to "something almost magical" that occurred in 1937. In fact, throughout her life "there was absolutely no scientific explanation for her condition." If that were the sum total of the exposition in The Age of Adaline, which ropes Harrison Ford into the realm of fantasy as well as Lively, our imaginations could have done the rest. Nevertheless, it was decided that a full science-based theory was in order.

Why Blake Lively Replaced Katherine Heigl In The Age Of Adaline
Image
"The Age of Adaline" — directed by Lee Toland Krieger and released in 2015 — is, put simply, a movie centered around the idea that Blake Lively is an inhumanly beautiful creature. This makes it hard to imagine that anyone else could have played Adaline Bowman, a woman unstuck in time who's incapable of aging. What you may not know, though, is that "Grey's Anatomy" veteran Katherine Heigl was originally supposed to play the titular role but ended up dropping out ... so what happened here?

Heigl, who originated the role of Dr. Izzie Stevens on the long-running ABC medical drama — and left the series partway through its 6th season — was initially cast in the film against Angela Lansbury, who was supposed to play Adaline's much older daughter, Flemming. Long before the movie came out, Heigl exited the project in 2010, according to a report in Deadline; at first, the outlet said that Heigl's departure was due to on-set strife.

Blake Lively & Harrison Ford’s Divisive Fantasy Movie Is Now Trending On Netflix 10 Years Later & It’s Still One Of Her Best Roles
Image
The Age of Adaline is one of Blake Lively's best movies, and it perfectly set her up for a later role. The Age of Adaline is a romantic drama with a fantasy element and is about a 29-year-old woman named Adaline, who mysteriously stops aging after being involved in a car accident. To avoid people finding out her secret, Adaline must constantly reinvent herself, changing her identity every decade. The Age of Adaline has been controversial as it routinely depicts a much older woman in romantic relationships with younger men, though Adaline does not look her age.

While The Age of Adaline has been more popular with audiences than with critics, even the less-positive reviews have praised the performances of the lead actors, especially Blake Lively (Adaline) and Harrison Ford. Blake Lively & Harrison Ford's 'The Age of Adaline' Is a Streaming Hit on Netflix
Image
While the public dispute surrounding It Ends With Us continues to unfold, another Blake Lively movie is finding streaming success. The Age of Adaline, which debuted in 2015, was re-released on Netflix on New Year's Day and is now sitting on the streamer's most-watched list. Lively leads the fantasy rom-com alongside Harrison Ford, Michael Huisman, and Ellen Burstyn. The Lee Toland Krieger-directed feature tells the story of Lively's Adaline Bowman, a young woman who miraculously stops aging after a near-death experience and strives to guard that secret.

Although The Age of Adaline wasn't a critical success (many took issues with what they found to be a very confusing narrative), its star-studded cast delivers excellent performances, making for an enjoyable feature. It also wasn't a blockbuster hit upon its release, but enjoyed moderate success at the box office, grossing $65.7 million worldwide on a $25 million budget.

A Blake Lively Movie On Netflix's Top 10 Is A Must Watch For It Ends With Us Fans
Image
Last year, none other than Deadpool's own wife booted "Deadpool & Wolverine" out of the box office number one spot. That is to say, at a time when "Deadpool & Wolverine" was seemingly unbeatable at the box office, star Ryan Reynolds' wife Blake Lively hit number one with her adaptation of Colleen Hoover's 2016 novel "It Ends with Us." The movie might well be mired in controversy following accusations of sexual harassment on-set, but the "It Ends with Us" behind-the-scenes drama can't take away from the movie's success.

The romantic drama stars Lively as Lily Bloom, a woman confronting the reality of her abusive relationship, with the "Gossip Girl" alum delivering a solid performance in a film that otherwise failed to wow critics. But that surely doesn't matter to Lively, as her $25 million movie not only managed to dethrone her husband's superhero blockbuster, but also grossed $350 million worldwide.

Blake Lively has always been a limelight stealer, be it through her unparalleled beauty or indomitable acting chops. However, as of late, she has been under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Following her latest interviews about her recently released romance/drama It Ends with Us, she is alleged of sporting “toxic behavior” as a celebrity.

Amidst all of this, journalist Kjersti Flaa has come up with an eight-year-old interview with Lively where the actress was notably seen not being on her best behavior as Flaa tried to interview her. Needless to say, this has further put the actress under a lot more fire than before. But what’s surprising is that Flaa isn’t the only journalist with regrettable memories about Lively.

The Grays: Berlanti and Netflix team for a TV series inspired by The Picture of Dorian Gray
Image
Back in the 1890s, writer Oscar Wilde brought the world a story called The Picture of Dorian Gray – and now the Netflix streaming service has announced that they’re teaming up with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television on a new TV series called The Grays, which ComicBook.com hears will be “a contemporary take on the Oscar Wilde classic about our fascination with eternal youth set against the backdrop of the modern beauty industry.“

The Picture of Dorian Gray has the following description: Combining elements of the Gothic horror novel and decadent French fiction, the book centers on a striking premise: As Dorian Gray sinks into a life of crime and gross sensuality, his body retains perfect youth and vigor while his recently painted portrait grows day by day into a hideous record of evil, which he must keep hidden from the world.

After 21 Movies, I'm Still Waiting For Harrison Ford To Finish His Unrealized Career Shift
Image
Harrison Ford shines as a villain in What Lies Beneath, showing his potential beyond heroic roles. Despite What Lies Beneath's mixed reviews, Ford's performance as the antagonist was chilling and memorable. Ford has not played a former villain since What Lies Beneath in 2000.

Over the course of his acting career, Harrison Ford has starred in numerous critically acclaimed movies and played many beloved characters, but there is one thing that has been sadly missing from his catalog. Ford's breakthrough in Hollywood came when he starred as Bob Falfa in George Lucas' American Graffiti. Although the 1973 comedy-drama certainly isn't what Ford is most known for, it helped build his relationship with Lucas. Consequently, American Grafitti was a key factor in Ford securing the role of Han Solo in Star Wars in 1977, which was when the actor truly rose to prominence.

Harrison Ford has recently shifted from the big screen...

Blake Lively's Best Movie On Rotten Tomatoes Came Out Over A Decade Ago
Image
Blake Lively has always made interesting choices as an artist. As /Film's Hannah Shaw-Williams noted while writing about the larger-than-anticipated box office debut for Lively's romantic drama "It Ends with Us," the "Gossip Girl" alum is the rare actor to become "a reliable star of so-called 'chick flicks' i.e. movies overtly marketed towards a female audience" in recent years. This dates back to her breakout role nearly 20 years ago in Ken Kwapis' "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," a deeply earnest coming-of-age film that also happens to be about a pair of jeans that magically fits four teen girls with decidedly different body types. It's a good movie!

As she settled into adulthood, Lively continued to branch out, collaborating with auteurs like Rebecca Miller and Oliver Stone while primarily focusing on low-to-mid-budget, non-franchise fare at a time when such films were being banished to the direct-to-streaming realm. That's not...

Lady Deadpool Herself Kicks Deadpool & Wolverine Out Of The Box Office No. 1 Spot

Fighting off a killer shark. Becoming immortal. Leading the Deadpool Corps. Is there anything that Blake Lively can't do?

Apparently not! Fresh off a cameo appearance as Lady Deadpool in the box office record-smashing "Deadpool & Wolverine," Lively returned to end the Marvel movie's run at No. 1 on Friday. Her new movie "It Ends With Us," based on the best-selling novel by Colleen Hoover, is on track for an astonishing opening weekend that could reach as high as $50 million. That's particularly notable since "It Ends With Us" is a romantic drama, and that genre is typically relegated to streaming releases these days.

Deadline reports that "It Ends With Us" easily topped the charts on Friday with a $24 million opening day including $7 million in previews, and still ranks above "Deadpool & Wolverine" even without those preview ticket sales. Women made up 84% of the opening day crowd, according to Post Trak exit...

The All I See is You star and Lover singer have been at each others’ side ever since they connected in Australia for a day back in 2015. And they never turned back. You know they are up close once you realise that the trio – James, Betty, and Inez, around whom Swift’s songs Cardigan, Betty, and August revolved, are actually the names of Lively’s kids.

Add to that the fact that she is the godmother of all of them. Their camaraderie and close friendship are admired by the industry at large, even prompting many to think that they might be besties.
