Jonathan Groff was only supposed to learn a couple lines from the song "Tujhe Dehka Toh" from Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's Bollywood classic, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. He instead recited the entire song which shocked Karan Soni, the crew, and even onlookers.
Jonathan Groff read the script for this film and watched the film 7 Days which was also directed by Roshan Sethi, starring Karan Soni. He went to Roshan to campaign for Karan to play the lead role in "A Nice Indian Boy," even though he was straight. Groff believed Karan would be perfect for the role. However, Roshan informed Groff that Karan was actually his boyfriend and had already been cast in the role of Naveen.
The film makes history by incorporating both scenes and music from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ)--one of Bollywood's most iconic romantic films. This marks the first time Aditya Chopra (DDLJ's director and writer) has granted permission for the film's footage and song ("Tujhe Dekha To") to be used in another cinematic work.
