Based on what we’re hearing from Disney, the seventh and final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, now on Disney Plus, will be with us on February 17th, 2020. One of the more challenging aspects of the animated series, though, is that you won’t get a chronological experience by just following the released episode order. Thankfully, then, we now have a correct viewing order courtesy of the official Star Wars site, which tells us all you need to know to catch up on The Clone Wars before its return.
The Clone Wars bridges the gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, providing a significant level of detail for anyone wondering what was going on in between the two prequel movies. When aired, episodes could often be bundled together as arcs, linked by one-off episodes that might explore a different part of the galaxy adjacent...

We’ve got an incredibly creepy trailer for you to check out for the Netflix indie-horror Eli. The film is directed by Ciarán Foy and follows a mother and father who take their ailing son with an autoimmune disorder to a home/facility to receive treatment, but things begin to go wrong when supernatural events occur, and evil seems to be lurking throughout the house and its staff.
As a last resort to cure their son’s auto-immune disorder, the Millers move into a sterile manor during his treatments. Eli is tormented by terrifying visions — deemed hallucinations — but something sinister may lurk within these walls.
The film stars Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone), Max Martini (13 Hours), Charlie Shotwell (All the Money in the World), Lili Taylor (Mystic Pizza), Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Deneen Tyler (Black and Blue), and Katia Gomez (Get Hard).

Irish director Ciarán Foy turned a lot of heads with his debut film Citadel back in 2012. Not that things have been quiet for the director but they have certainly picked up recently. It was just announced this week that Foy will direct episodes of Netflix's The Haunting of Bly House. It may have been his work for the streaming network on his new haunted house flick Eli that got him the new gig. The trailer for Eli was released earlier today. Have a look below and keep an eye out for it on Netflix on October 18th. Eli is the story of a young boy plagued with an unknown, debilitating illness that requires him to live completely sealed off from the...

"Why do I feel worse?!" Netflix has unveiled the first official trailer for an indie horror film called Eli, the latest from acclaimed Irish filmmaker Ciarán Foy (of Citadel and Sinister 2). This hasn't premiered at any film festivals, but will be dropping right onto Netflix in a few weeks - just in time for the horror season. Eli is about a young boy named Eli, played by Charlie Shotwell, receiving treatment for his auto-immune disorder, who discovers that the house he's living isn't as safe as he thought. He moves into a "safe house" but starts to feel even worse, and starts to see some very creepy things. The full cast includes Kelly Reilly, Max Martini, Lili Taylor, Sadie Sink, Deneen Tyler, and Katia Gomez. This is a seriously freaky deaky little trailer. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Ciarán Foy's Eli, from ...

Half a century later, as much mystery surrounds what Brian Jones brought to the Rolling Stones as the circumstances of his death.
It has been 50 years since the Rolling Stones’ Brian Jones drowned in the swimming pool at his country home and his death is still as much a mystery as it was on July 3, 1969. He was 27, the same age as his hero, blues musician Robert Johnson. They were the first recognized members of the "27 Club," artists who died at that age like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Linda Jones, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse. Johnson and Jones share another honor in the dark mythology of rock and roll. Their circumstances of their deaths are shrouded with unanswered questions. Johnson may have been poisoned. Jones may have been intentionally drowned. Both left legacies which influence artists to this very day. The same can be said of the lingering questions.

George R.R. Martin, the creator of Game of Thrones, said on his official blog today that work is proceeding “nicely” on three GoT-based series at HBO. But Martin cautioned against believing rumors about the shows.
“Oh, and speaking of television, don’t believe everything you read. Internet reports are notoriously unreliable. We have had five different Game Of Thrones successor shows in development (I mislike the term “spinoffs”) at HBO, and three of them are still moving forward nicely.”
He added: “The one I am not supposed to call The Long Night will be shooting later this year, and two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer. What are they about? I cannot say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of Fire & Blood and come up with your own theories.”

It was just last week that we passed along the update that 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment's upcoming three-film adaptation of Goosebumps author R.L. Stine's teen horror book series Fear Street had added Ashley Zukerman, Fred Hechinger, Julia Rehwald, and Jeremy Ford to the cast. That update was a two-parter as we also passed along word that the trilogy lost Queen of Earth and Her Smell writer-director Alex Ross Perry, who was all set to take the helm of the second Fear Street sequel. And today we hear that Stranger Things season two star Sadie Sink has joined the cast as well.
Sadie Sink will be joining a cast that includes the above-mentioned Ashley Zukerman, Fred Hechinger, Julia Rehwald, and Jeremy Ford along with Benjamin Flores Jr., Olivia Welch, Kiana Madeira, and Swamp Thing, Jurassic World star Matt Burke in the role of "Football Coach." Madeira and...

The Game of Thrones prequel pilot is adding a Harry Potter star to its ranks.
According to Deadline, Miranda Richardson is the latest addition to the cast of the pilot.
No details about her role have been revealed, and that's not a surprise. Despite some teases, much of the characters the cast will be playing has been kept under wraps.
Richardson joins a cast that already includes Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, and Toby Regbo.
Much like the original series, the cast for the prequel is poised to be bursting at the seams.

"Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour," reads the official logline for the Jane Goldman penned pilot.

A fun, watchable episode of Star Wars Resistance, but one that feels a little like a step back.
This Star Wars Resistance review contains spoilers.
Star Wars Resistance Episode 6
There won’t be many words for this review. “The Children from Tehar” is a fine episode, although it’s very limited in scope. We do learn a bit more about The Colossus, and there’s a slightly new shade to Kazuda, but beyond that, it’s not expansive or eye-opening or game-changing.
I guess it’s more table-setting, but nothing really seems… informative? It’s mostly about putting up, front and center, a lot of ideas that we could pretty much assume from the start, so while the execution of the episode is pretty straight-forward, the details are shrug-worthy.
Kazuda is in debt to Tam over a ship part he broke that’s both rare and expensive, so Kazuda, after overhearing a hologram transmission,...

The Game of Thrones prequel has found its next cast member.
According to Deadline, Josh Whitehouse is the latest addition to the cast of the spinoff and will be one of the ensemble's leads.
There's no word yet on who the Poldark scene-stealer will be playing, and we're not surprised.
The series has been shrouded in secrecy ever since it was announced, and given that the parent series has yet to finish its run, it's likely that HBO wants to keep details on the down low.

The Game of Thrones prequel has its first cast member!
According to Deadline, Naomi Watts has signed on to lead the cast of the prequel pilot which is in the works at HBO from writer Jane Goldman and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin.

Goldman is attached to the project as showrunner, and will executive produce alongside Martin. Simply put, the spinoff is in good hands.
Plot details were revealed earlier this year ahead of the pilot order.

Star Wars Resistance zooms into action with a whole new story and heroes. Here's our review of the series premiere!
This Star Wars Resistance review contains spoilers.
Star Wars Resistance Episodes 1 and 2
Star Wars is back! The animated TV version, that is. After the end of Star Wars Rebels–a show that struggled with tonal issues for several seasons but stuck the landing with an exceptionally good final season and a remarkable final episode–Dave Filoni returns with Star Wars Resistance, a new animated expedition within the venerable Star Wars saga.
This series, with its CGI, cel-shaded, video game-esque animation style, takes place about six months before The Force Awakens, charting the rise of the infamous First Order through the eyes of newcomer Kazuda Xiono. I use the “video game-esque” descriptor on purpose. It not only refers to the visual style–which to be clear, is pretty effective and allows for bright,...

HBO president Casey Bloys provided an update on the Jane Goldman-George R.R. Martin scripted Game of Thrones prequel and there’s hope that production will be starting next year. HBO still has to cast and find a director.
There were earlier local reports a few weeks ago that production was starting in October in Belfast at The Paint Hall in the city’s Titanic Quarters. That is not true says Bloys in regards to the production start.
While there were a number of prequels in production at once, it was the Goldman one to win out, “That was the one we’re excited about” said Bloys. The other four aren’t happening at the moment. Bloys noted that some of them are dead and some are still possibilities but would not specify how many and which may be still alive. Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has taken to his own (nota)blog again to update on the status of the highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequels.
Last week, the scribe had confirmed that only one of the five already penned prequels, which was written by Kingsman’s Jane Goldman and himself, is in development. He reiterates that none of the characters from Game of Thrones will be making an appearance in the prequels. Why? Because its set at least ten thousand years before those events take place.
“None of the characters or actors from ‘Game of Thrones’ will appear in the new show…This one really puts the Pre in prequel, since it is set not ninety years before ‘Game of Thrones’ (like ‘Dunk & Egg’), or a few hundred years, but rather ten thousand years”.

Last week we learned that HBO was developing a Game of Thrones prequel series that would be set 1,000 years before the events of the current series. This is what we learned about the series when it was announced:
Set thousands of years before the events of Thrones, the project chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. A logline from the network teased the plot wihtout divulging any specifics: "Only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it's not the story we think we know."
Since the series was announced, co-creator of the new series George R.R. Martin posted an update on his personal blog. There he reveals that he would like the title of the series to be The Long Night.

I've got some bad news for all of you Mad Max fans. Like you, I've been waiting for the news that director George Miller's sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road had been greenlit by the studio. The filmmaker already has scripts ready to go for two more Mad Max sequels! Unfortunately, it sounds like that may never happen because Miller is locked in a legal battle with the studio over Mad Max: Fury Road.
Three years after the movie was released and was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, the director's production company, Kennedy Miller Mitchell, has claimed in a document filed in the Supreme Court of Nsw that the studio acted in a "high-handed, insulting or reprehensible" manner.
The document goes on to claim that the relationship of trust between the studio and the production company was destroyed by "allegedly refusing to pay a bonus for delivering the movie under...

Well then. Quite a lot happened in this one, didn’t it?
It really is quite refreshing, when you watch as much TV as I do, to appreciate just how damn well written this show is. With only very minor exceptions, every scene is brimming with good lines. With strong characterisation. With what is not said being just as important as what is. Game of Thrones really is a masterclass in how to write a good TV programme. It just also happens to contain dragons. And eunuch sex.
But seriously. There were so many decent scenes to talk about here that it really doesn’t do it justice to just type about it. So, if you haven’t seen this episode yet, and if you don’t watch Game of Thrones, then for the love of God. Get watching!

I’m a huge fan of Ciarán Foy, who I was first introduced to at the 2011 SXSW Film Festival with his Citadel. He since went on to direct the sequel to Sinister, which I actually enjoyed quite a bit. Next up for the young filmmaker is Broad Green Pictures’ psychological horror film Eli, about a young boy who undergoes treatment […]...

Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan returns for the first time since 2014's sci-fi epic Interstellar to give audiences the true-life WWII drama Dunkirk this summer. After a short teaser earlier in the year, we now have the full-length trailer, which marks the big screen debut of musician Harry Styles. It also reunites Nolan with some of his favorite actors, including Batman vets Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy.
Dunkirk marks the event that shaped our world. Dunkirk opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in. Today, we get to see more of the action and thrills of this harrowing moment from history with all-new footage. And it surely impresses.
Christopher Nolan went after a mostly unknown cast for his army of young soldiers faced with the unthinkable.

What is it about towering apartment buildings that fascinates filmmakers, especially those working in horror, sci-fi, and fantasy? It’s easy to imagine these eyesores of urban development — especially those with secured entrances and exclusive tenants — harboring sinister secrets inside their walls.
High-Rise, director Ben Wheatley adaptation’s of J.G. Ballard‘s eponymous sci-fi novel, more than fits into this strange subset of films, as it focuses on dystopian class warfare inside a monolithic beast of Brualist architecture. With the film now in theaters (and on VOD), we look at other other films that imagine the incredible, horrifying, or supernatural happenings in and around these deceptively unassuming structures.
Apartment Trilogy (Roman Polanski)
Has any set of films turned the usual drudgeries of apartment living — climbing up your stairs for the umpteenth time, dealing with troubled amenities, and trying your best to acknowledge neighbors’ existence without getting the least bit involved...

The Commodore Amiga had many wonderful titles that you may remember, but here are 50 great games you might not recognize!
This article originally appeared on Den of Geek UK.
The Amiga was a brilliant 1980s home computer that was ahead of its time, thanks to its custom architecture. By the middle of the 1990s, its parent company, Commodore, had gone bust, and the Amiga was left behind. However, what remains is the glorious legacy of a distinctive computer with a broad library of great games.
Famous Amiga releases include Lemmings, Sensible Soccer, Speedball II, The Chaos Engine, Populous, Worms, Hunter, Another World, and Cannon Fodder. You won’t find them on this list, though. These are the underrated Amiga games. And every one of them is a corker.

How many horror sequels exceed the scare factor of the first film? You can probably count them on one hand and unfortunately, despite offering stronger characters and a more emotionally resonant story, Sinister 2 falls among the far more numerous cases of diminishing returns in horror franchise history. Sinister 2 shows us just how creepy twins can be [take it from me, I am one]… but does it live up to its predecessor?
Sinister 2 follows a family as they struggle with evil. Courtney Collins (Shannyn Sossamon) moves her twin sons Dylan and Zach (real-life brothers Robert and Dartanian Sloan) to an empty farmhouse while running from the abuse of their father Clint. What she doesn’t expect, is that there are forces much worse in her new home.
Although Bughuul is in Sinister 2 a bit more, it doesn’t make it scarier than the first film. In my opinion, I found the videos where children were acting out the murders of their families were far more disturbing. Director Ciarán Foy (Citadel) goes out of his way to explain the myth of Bughuul by going into more detail, which just ends up killing a bit of his mystery. I really did enjoy the creepy...

Coming our way in 2012, Sinister, from director Scott Derrickson and screenwriter C. Robert Cargill, presented itself as a refreshing new horror property, not one that shunned typical cliches but did provide some neat, disturbing twists to the well worn genre. As is the way with successful horror movies, a sequel has come our way, with Derrickson and Cargill saying on to pen the script and helming duties passed off to Irish director Ciarán Foy (Citadel). Foy does do a good job of recreating the creepy atmosphere of the first movie, and while it works best expanding on the mythology of the original’s literal, family murdering boogey man, Bughuul, Sinister 2 unfortunately just serves as a rehash of what came before. We’re pretty much thrown into the story from the opening scene, with James Ransome returning as the still unnamed ex-deputy dedicating his life to stoping pagan deity Bughuul from taking anymore victims.

Disjointed, incohesive, and psychologically ridiculous. And actually repulsive on multiple levels in ways that the first film was not. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
The only good thing about Sinister was Ethan Hawke’s portrayal of a writer having what looked like a mental breakdown, to the degree that it was easy to suspect that perhaps he was the perpetrator of the family murder he was investigating for a true-crime book. Before that film was half over, however, such a potentially intriguing scenario was rendered impossible, and Sinister became yet another by-the-numbers demon-haunted funhouse. And here’s Sinister 2, which doesn’t have anything so minimally compelling going for it.
Another family has been targeted for ritual killings by the devil Bhughul, which is just a fancy name for the Boogeyman, and he’s...

Read More: Meet the 2012 SXSW Filmmakers #1: Ciaran Foy, 'Citadel' In the age of indie filmmakers turned blockbuster directors, Irish writer-director Ciarán Foy is charting his own unique path to major motion pictures. His 2012 feature debut, "Citadel," was a small-budget psychological horror film about a widowed father suffering from agoraphobia, and it turned more than a few heads while tearing up various midnight sections on the festival circuit. Foy, an obsessive genre fan since childhood, ended up winning the Audience Award at SXSW and the Best Horror prize at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, but the critical acclaim and growing cult status of his breakout film didn't grant him the instant success as some of his indie-minded contemporaries. As Foy told Indiewire while discussing the horror sequel "Sinister 2," the only thing his debut provided was a handful of "horrible screenplays," from boring horror plots to phased.

The Reusable Bughuul: Foy Marks a Franchise for Death
The only thing effectively murdered in the utterly unnecessary and awkwardly bungled sequel to Scott Derrickson’s mostly effective 2012 film Sinister, unrolled with the equally uninspired moniker of Sinister 2, is the material’s once lucrative franchise capabilities. But perhaps Irish helmer Ciaran Foy, taking over for Derrickson, is doing us all a big favor with this perplexingly lethargic follow-up to a film that was already reconstituting elements from a variety of other known genre entities (such as the exposure to vintage cinematic documents necessitating a sort of initiation into the specific paradigm of this particular dark realm a la The Ring).
No longer part of the police force following his involvement with the fiery end greeting the Oswalt family in Sinister, the now Ex-Deputy So & So (James Ransone) is committed to following up on the demonic entity known as Bughuul.

In this workmanlike sequel, a nervous cop heads for an ever eerie Indiana – and a shoddy ending
This workmanlike sequel to 2012’s unusually effective snuff horror – again penned by Scott Derrickson, but directed by Irishman Ciarán Foy (Citadel) – introduces Insidious-like chuckles in dispatching nervy deputy James Ransone to ever eerie Indiana, where Shannyn Sossamon’s son has started sneaking away to eyeball his own midnight movies. With their anodyne titles (“Kitchen Remodel”) and grinding soundtracks, these bloody offcuts remain credibly unsettling. It’s the framework thrown up around them that feels makeweight: a Peeping Tom story rushed through as quiet-quiet-loud popcorn-spiller, with replacement players gabbling footnotes to the original legend, and a shoddily edited hide-and-seek finale.

A few years ago, Irish filmmaker Ciarán Foy made a name for himself with Citadel, his haunting tale of agoraphobic horror that premiered at the SXSW Film Festival. His latest directorial effort, Sinister 2, is set to debut later this week and Daily Dead recently had the opportunity to speak with him about coming on board the sequel, working with the cast, his experiences collaborating with Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, who co-wrote the script, and much more.
Sinister 2 is being released on August 21st from Gramercy Pictures and stars James Ransone as Deputy So & So, who has been tracking Bughuul since the events of the original Sinister and finds a woman (Shannyn Sossaman) and her twin sons (Robert and Dart Sloan) living in a rural house that just so happens to be the demonic force’s latest target. Coming from a man who once relied on a nightlight to ward off evil closet-dwelling monsters, the original Sinister sufficiently creeped me out. Evil dead children, a demon with a reputation for popping out of nowhere, and intolerable home movies – Scott Derrickson’s haunted house rehash scored some serious points in my book. But after watching Sinister 2, I now understand that it wasn’t Bagul’s terrifying hypnosis that sent chills up my spine. Not in the least. It was Derrickson’s direction and tone that ensured each of Bagul’s scares dug its fangs deeper than the last, while Sinister 2 is a wholly different beast of a sequel with a laxer grasp of horror under the guidance of Citadel director Ciarán Foy.
Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill return to unleash Bagul on another unsuspecting family, bringing along a familiar face in James Ransone’s “Ex-Deputy So & So” character (seriously,...
