Pixar
There aren’t many things in this world that have the ability to generate as much giddy excitement as a new Pixar movie. Indeed, the prospect of two releases from this famous film studio in 2015 is enough to send some fans bubbling over into delirium.
It’s all justified too, with the animation powerhouse having churned out a colourful catalogue of sleek-looking CGI films over the years all buoyed by fascinating plots that have earned commercial and critical acclaim. The good news is that two utterly unique releases from the production company are all set to hit cinemas this year.
First up is Inside Out, a fantasy-comedy due for release around June. The movie presents viewers with a peculiar concept, as the film takes place inside an 11-year-old girl’s head as her five emotions of Sadness, Joy, Disgust, Anger and Fear jostle to take over her body.

In case you were off making dinner or sipping cocktails during the commercial breaks last night, we got to see some brand new footage of Pixar.s Inside Out during SNL.s 40th anniversary special. The voices inside this young girl.s head are already delightful . except for, perhaps, Anger and Disgust . but what happens to them during a brain freeze? Pretty much the same result we get when Elsa lets it go. The SNL 40th anniversary special proved to be quite the ratings booster. Given all the to-do made over the celebrity guests and tributes, brands must have dished out some serious dough to get their commercials screened during the breaks. Though, Inside Out has Disney and Pixar money, so the price tag attached to a TV spot like this was no roadblock. In Inside Out, a young girl named Riley becomes the setting as audiences dive into the...

One of the key factors that has ensured Pixar has stayed relevant over the years is the fact that the esteemed animation studio balances financially-sound sequels with breakout new IPs. For every Toy Story 3, there’s a Wall-e. And as the company moves forward, it continues to diversify, serving up two all-new features in 2015 in the form of The Good Dinosaur and emotional drama, Inside Out.
But look further afield and you’ll happen across Pixar’s Día de los Muertos, the studio’s animation based on the world-famous Mexcian holiday. Up until this point, it’s been a project shrouded in secrecy, with nary a word of plot or casting as Pixar focuses all attention on 2015’s two aforementioned heavy-hitters, but according to Randy Newman — who has collaborated with the company on numerous projects including Finding Nemo — the upcoming project could turn out to be the studio’s very first musical.

Randy Newman was on Classic FM this weekend and there’s no way on Earth I would ever have known this if Film Divider hadn’t listened in and transcribed some of what he said. I’m always far too busy not being scared of Radio 3 to ever give Classic FM the time of day.
From what he said, it doesn’t seem entirely like Newman is on the best terms with Pixar. A terrible shame because their working relationship had been yielding some amazing results.
“I’m not so sure I don’t have a reputation for being a little trouble,” Newman said, adding “Lee Unkrich isn’t going to use me, I don’t think.”
Use him for what? For the studio’s first musical. That’s what Newman says in any case, though he gives no details.

Allison Burnett is a rarity in Hollywood. He is not just a successful Hollywood screenwriter, a respected novelist, and a published critic and poet, but also a film director. His new film, Ask Me Anything, which he wrote and directed based on his own novel Undiscovered Gyrl, was released two weeks ago in selected theaters and on all digital platforms. It stars Martin Sheen, Christian Slater, Justin Long, and, in the lead role, luminous newcomer Britt Robertson. Recently I sat down with Allison in his Los Angeles home to discuss the challenges of indie filmmaking in general, as well as the difficulties with his leading lady that has caught the attention of the national media.
Dusty Wright: You wrote and directed Red Meat in 1996 and then did not direct again until Ask Me Anything. What took you so long to tackle directing again?
Alilson Burnett: To me the great allure of directing is creative control.

Even something as simple as a dinner conversation about the first day of school can turn into a disaster (or not, depending on one’s perception) in Pixar’s Inside Out. The foot came down awfully fast on that one. Riley is guided by her emotions, Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness, who live in Headquarters, the […]

How do you make a movie that plays out largely inside the main characters' heads? That's been the big question since word first began to circulate about Pixar's upcoming Inside Out but despite showing how each of the major emotions would be represented by distinct characters the initial teasers gave very little indication of how the interplay between inner world and outer world would be executed. But with the arrival of the full trailer we now get a real look at the whole mechanism in action and it's pretty fun.Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is...

Did the kids enjoy the Inside Out trailer we dropped earlier? If so, that's awesome to hear, and we're glad to be of service. But if you're looking for something a little more adult oriented, then you might want to click on the Kingsman: The Secret Service trailer below and revel in all of the R-rated wonderment. Thanks to IGN, we now have what's probably the most exciting look at what's already shaping up to be a fun action romp. Kingsmen: The Secret Service looks like it will be taking the less serious approach to James Bond spy work, while amping the idea up with the sensibilities that director Matthew Vaughn exhibited with his adaptation of Kick Ass. Most importantly, it's given us the first hint that this film is going to be an R-rated comedy that does not spare bullets, blood, or profanity. Also on display in this trailer...

We have known for a while now that Pixar.s latest, Inside Out, will take us inside the emotional thought process of a little girl. The full trailer for the upcoming animated comedy finally shows us how. and expands the scope of the project. Check it out below: This is far more adorable than we even hoped. Yes, Pixar is going for a few easy targets by showing how different mothers and fathers are at the dinner table, lost in their own thoughts. But the concept of all of us having our own emotional Command Centers opens the door to so many possibilities, and I can.t wait to see how the film explores them all. Also, as a husband and father, the phrase "Signal the husband" is not the single-most terrifying sentence I can imagine. The beautiful thing about this Inside Out tease is that . even if you already...

For a while there, we forgot that the Pixar that gave us "Up," "The Incredibles," and "Monsters Inc." existed. With a slate of upcoming movies that is (admittedly) focused on sequels, it seemed that the animation studio had their brain taken over by Disney. But for those who want to remember the glory days of yore and perhaps still to come from Pixar, welcome to the new trailer for "The Inside Out." The movie arrives with a rather clever concept, centering not around characters so much as their feelings — Joy, Disgust, Fear, Sadness, Anger — particularly as it relates to one eleven-year-old girl, Riley. This new look at the movie is really clever, showing the warring emotions between Riley and her parents, during the kind of dinner conversation we've all had with our parents. It's pretty fun stuff and a nice sampler of what's to come. "Inside Out" arrives on June 19th.

2014 marked the first time in 9 years that we went a full year without a new film from Pixar. With a lot of films on their slate and a slew of sequels that didn't quite live up to the mark the studio set for themselves, expectations are high for what comes next from the animation powerhouse. We have already seen a teaser for Inside Out but now we have a full trailer for the film that gives a good idea of what to expect from the emotional film. While Pixar has a full upcoming slate that includes next summer's Inside Out followed by The Good Dinosaur in November, along with the much anticipated debut of Toy Story 4 in 2017, one of their most anticipated projects is a sequel to the 2003 classic Finding Nemo. Omlete recently caught up with Pixar President Jim Morris, who spoke about the 2016 release. He offered the first new information we've heard about this follow-up in quite sometime, revealing the story and the setting.

Dory (a role being reprised by Ellen DeGeneres) is living a quite life among the other clown fish. It has been over a month since the first photos from the upcoming "Terminator Genisys" dropped online and surprisingly that first publicity campaign salvo did not include either a new poster or trailer, just an Entertainment Weekly cover story.
Now though the official website for the film has gone live with the first motion poster and a countdown to the film's first trailer which will debut this Thursday at 1pm Us-pst.
Like last week's "Jurassic World" trailer, which popped up at an Australian event for Universal Pictures a few weeks earlier in November, the first trailer for 'Genisys' was reportedly already shown at an invite-only Paramount Roadshow panel two weeks ago says The Terminator Fans.
According to the site, the trailer will have its public premiere at the 'Comic Con Experience' event in Sao Paulo, Brazil at a Paramount panel on Thursday morning. It then goes online that afternoon.

There is no new Pixar movie this year (boo!), but we are getting two next year (yay!) with Inside Out hitting in the Summer, and The Good Dinosaur released just in time for Christmas on December 2nd. Directed by Peter Sohn (taking over from original director Bob Peterson), who brought the fantastic short Partly Cloudly to life, The Good Dinosaur imagines a world where dinosaurs and humans live side by side, and tells the tale of Arlo and his human pet embarking on an incredible journey. New concept art from the project has made its way to us, and it looks absolutely wonderful. I especially love the design of Arlo, and how they are able to convey so much emotion with him. It's all in the eyes! Check it out below.

If you've been feeling blue and downhearted lately, perhaps it's because Pixar has not released a movie this year, which the company intends to remedy by releasing two movies next year. The first, Inside Out, focuses on emotions warring inside a young girl's mind; it's due on June 19, 2015. The second, The Good Dinosaur, has been more problematic. It was originally scheduled for May 30, 2014, but last year it was delayed to November 25, 2015. About a month before that announcement came word that director Bob Peterson was being removed from his position. Peter Sohn, a Pixar veteran, replaced Peterson, though that announcement was not made until recently. Now more details have emerged, via Los Angeles Times, indicating that the story itself has been "streamlined."...

Is it Pixar News Day and no-one sent us the memo? Between new Inside Out posters, a teaser for Toy Story That Time Forgot and now this fresh information on The Good Dinosaur, it’s feeling like the Emeryville team and their Disney partners were waiting to spring it all on us at once. Still, it appears to be good news for Dinosaur, as co-director Peter Sohn is officially in charge of the movie. There was somewhat natural consternation when director Bob Peterson was removed from the film over creative challenges, with word that the film was to be delayed until 2015. Which explained why it was Sohn and producer Denise Ream who turned up to promote the film at Disney’s D23 in August of last year, as the company scrambled to make it better. Now Sohn is promoted to full director for his feature debut (he’s worked in the art,...

Disney’s Princesses are some of the most beloved cartoon figures in history, but even they have come under scrutiny as Hollywood pushes for more diversity in their films. Disney’s latest princess will be the first of Pacific Islander descent (unless you count Lilo of Lilo & Stitch as a princess). The CG-animated film is Moana, the story of a born navigator who travels through ancient Oceania along with a demi-God pal named Maui in order to find a secret island.
Deadline reported Monday that the film would be aiming for a November 2016 release date and would be directed by Ron Clements and John Musker (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog). In the meantime, we’ll be awaiting Pixar’s Inside Out and Finding Dory, both anticipated for 2015. Graphic artist Dylan Todd (in collaboration with Comics Alliance) has created "Supermovies," an infographic that gives a helpful look at all known superhero movies coming out over the next six years and beyond. All the dates are referenced in detail at Comics Alliance.
2015 looks pretty bare compared to the coming years, but it has some large non superhero movies scheduled, including Star Wars: Episode VII, Jurassic World, Mad Max: Fury Road, Tomorrowland, James Bond #24, Fast and Furious 7, Inside Out, Terminator: Genisys, Pan, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, Mission: Impossible 5, The Good Dinosaur, and The Hateful Eight. So don't worry, even without a full slate of superhero films, next year is going to be an insane year of movies.

All the news stories we didn't get to and/or articles we like with a wee slant toward the stage this morning... itching to see a show again.
Guardian on the homophobic charges against the MPAA. That über obnoxious organization has struck again. Pride is the second gay movie this year without sex scenes or nudity to be slapped with an R rating.
/Film The Twilight Saga may well be back after some short films. When I first heard this news I groaned and rolled my eyes but then I read the plan and it's sort of a support young female filmmakers thing so it sounds kind of cool, actually. Pit that Twilight is so obnoxious
The Playlist ranks all 35 of David Fincher's music videos. I used to be so obsessed with him because of Madonna. It's possible that I already linked this? I don't know. But their rankings are fairly good.

Next year’s full to bursting with potentially brilliant geek films, so to help, here’s our pick of 25 must-see movies out in 2015…
Compiling a list of next year's most exciting films is extremely difficult. What do you put in? What do you leave out? Those are some of the questions we've had to ask ourselves as we drew up the long-list of our most anticipated films of 2015. In an attempt to limit the number of sequels which can fill up a list such as this, we've left out something like Fast & Furious 7, even though we're fairly sure it'll be a lot of fun. With but two significant exceptions, we've excluded some of the films we were looking forward to this year that have been delayed until the next, such as Kingsman: The Secret Service and Frankenstein.
What we're left with, we hope, is a fairly broad selection of action and comedy,...

Los Angeles (AP) - The intergalactic misfits of Guardians of the Galaxy are the summer's box-office superheroes.
Marvel's cosmic romp topped the Labor Day box office with a three-day take of $22 million - its third time in first place since its release five weeks ago, according to studio estimates Monday. With North American ticket sales of more than $280 million so far, Guardians is also the summer's - and the year's - top-grossing film to date.
Still, summer box-office totals are down almost 15 percent from last year, said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for box-office tracker Rentrak.
"This is the lowest summer since 2006 in terms of revenue," he said. "Before Guardians, we were sitting on a 20 percent deficit compared to last year."
Transformers: Age of Extinction, which opened in late June, also boosted the summer box office with $1 billion in global ticket sales. Maleficent was also a hit, bringing in more than $230 million domestically.
