The beginning of the film pays homage to Terrifier, which starred Jenna Kanell and was directed by Damien Leone. Kanell stars in and co-wrote Faceless After Dark, and Damien Leone receives a special thanks at the end of the credits.
The conversation between Kanell and her Terrifier co-star Catherine Corcoran early in the film was rewritten to include references to their real life experiences.
