For me this Indie film was beautifully made. A powerful story and stand out performances from Feisal Bizimana and Rob Trend. The story is of an unlikely friendship between a young lad(Lucas) who is undertaking community service and an elderly man(Mr Miller). Lucas finds himself within a unsavoury circle of friends which endangers his growing relationship with Mr Miller. This film shows the challenges of dementia and the impact on family members. It was emotional at times and brought a tear to my eyes. A high quality Indie film beautifully directed. Highly recommended film and well worth a watch. A credit to Indie films.

I guess im just biased being that i grew up when indie films were being created all the time, well at least in comparison to what we see being produced these days.. The acting was on par with really just about any big box film & the Lead managed to captivate me regardless of what otherwise could have been a slog. Genuine chemistry was present from all the main characters & other than somewhat rocky sound engineering, i felt little difference from any content you might find streaming on netflix or the like.. i really hope to see what this studio may offer next & wish all the best for these young actors. Very enjoyable indie.

The makers of this low budget, Independent British feature point out during the closing titles that the story is based on real life events.

It does make you think the consequences of teenagers hanging around stupid friends.

Lucas Thompson is a young vulnerable black kid. His parents have split up, he is not happy that his mother is going out with other men.

At school Lucas hangs around George who is dim and Myles who is unstable. Lucas ends up in trouble with the police when they all rob a general store. Myles pulls a knife but it is Lucas who carries the can.

He ends up doing community service and Lucas does not squeal on his mates.

While doing community service. Lucas develops a friendship with Mr Miller. A gruff slightly racist old man with dementia who gets food parcels brought to him by Lucas.

Mr Miller used to be an ex footballer and over time teaches Lucas about politics and life in general. Lucas also develops a friendship with Mr Miller's granddaughter.

Myles is not happy that Lucas is no longer spending time with his friends. He plans to change all that.

It is a predictable story, although you would be aghast as to how stupid Lucas can be. Either through loyalty to his no good friends or being angry at his mother.

The filmmakers do make their point, even if the political stuff was trite. I'm not sure that the young audience will truly get the gist of the story.

A good film that covers an unlikely relationship. And also many social issues. Manages to show the tenderness of relationships between different people, but also the rough side and hard times. Well worth watching.the writers and director have captured the sensitivity of Alzheimer's and the issues facing the person and those close. And how a young life can be unexpectedly changed for the better. Has moments that make you sad, and moments that make you smile. It's a film I think all ages will enjoy watching. It's a good warts and all film. Doesn't throw roses at the issues raised. Highly recommend.
