Prime Video’s violent superhero series, “The Boys,” may be ending with season five, but prequel series “Vought Rising” is just getting warmed up. Two new faces have joined the cast.
Deadline reports that “Euphoria” actor Elizabeth Posey has joined the cast, while Variety reveals Posey is joined by “Blue Bloods” actor Will Hochman.
“Vought Rising” will also star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who play Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively. The pair will also serve as producers on the upcoming series.
“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins have joined the fifth and final season of “The Boys” as guest stars, reuniting with their fellow “Supernatural” alum, Jensen Ackles.
Details on their roles are being kept under wraps.
“The Boys” creator Eric Kripke has long expressed a desire to cast Padalecki on the satirical superhero drama, telling Variety last year, “I feel like I have to complete my game of ‘Supernatural’ Pokémon and I have my one big one — very big one — left to catch.” He later told Variety he was talking to Padalecki about a role on the final season, saying, “I love him and you try to work with people that you love.”
In addition to Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, “The Boys” has also featured “Supernatural” actors Jim Beaver (playing Robert Singer), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (playing Joe Kessler) and Rob Benedict (playing Splinter).

Prime Video and Eric Kripke essentially hit us with a good news, bad news one-two punch when it was announced that The Boys would be ending with its upcoming fifth season. Obviously, the bad news was that the fan-favorite series was tapping out following its next set of episodes. On the other hand, the good news revealed to audiences that this wouldn’t be the last time they’d step into the Kripke-created universe, thanks to a newly minted spin-off that was already heading towards production. Previous off-shoots, including The Boys Presents: Diabolical and Gen V, have already given audiences something different, and it appears that Vought Rising will do more of the same. The upcoming title will feature Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash as their deplorable “heroes” Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively, and take viewers back to the titular company’s early days.

Amazon's TV adaptation of The Boys stars everyone's favorite foul-mouthed Englishman: Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban. After his wife was assaulted by Homelander, she disappeared, which caused Butcher to become exceptionally jaded — and really, who could blame him? His low tolerance for idiots combined with his loud mouth and lack of filter often makes him hilarious, even if the cause is tragic.
The Boys' writers gave him some great quotes that have had viewers doubled over laughing and in tears during many of his nihilistic, comedic rants, especially in the first two seasons. As the drama and action continues to ramp up in the Prime Video series, it's all but guaranteed Butcher will have more than his share of hilarious things to say himself. Given his history, he'll have to go all out to top himself in the upcoming final season of The Boys. He's had no shortage of gems already.

Series creator and showrunner Eric Kripke confronts quite a few major societal fears in his hit Prime Video series "The Boys," ranging from the dangers of late-stage capitalism to police brutality. It's a show with enough head-popping, gory, and otherwise utterly disturbing moments to impress even the most die-hard horror fan. However, there's apparently there's only one thing that scares Kripke when it comes to the franchise, and it's honestly kind of tame by comparison. Then again, nothing on this planet is as terrifying as Homelander, the nightmarish vision of someone like Donald Trump if he had Superman's powers.
In an interview with Collider, Kripke revealed that his biggest fear for "The Boys" and its various spin-offs would be for the property to become the very thing it's been satirizing this whole time. It might seem a little silly for the guy behind the ultimate superhero satire to basically be...

Spoilers for season 4 of "The Boys" to follow.
After four seasons of depravity, gnarly violence, extreme gore, gratuitous nudity and more brutal and heartbreaking sealife deaths than any modern superhero movie or TV show, "The Boys" is coming to an end with season 5. It makes sense, of course. Season 4 was a mean, bleak season of TV mired in misery. From the political satire that got too real to Homelander getting away with everything he could possibly imagine, and even a literal coup that all but disbands the titular "lads," there is only so much that "The Boys" can throw at its audience before it bears too strong a resemblance to the real world. Still, the show is doing a brilliant job of adapting its source material and making the story feel fresh and new while also following the comics.

On August 16, 2024, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that comic writer Garth Ennis has written a script for a movie adaptation of his comic series "Crossed". Ennis' "Crossed" script has been acquired by the indie production company Six Studios.
These days, Ennis is most known as co-creator of "The Boys" (alongside artist Darick Robertson), the vicious superhero parody that's become one of Prime Video's premier programs. If you think "The Boys" can indulge in ultra violence and bad taste, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Published by Avatar Press, "Crossed" has well over 100 issues to its name, spread out over various mini-series and the long-running "Crossed: Badlands." Alan Moore even wrote the "Crossed +100" installment. What is this horror tale of epic length about? "Crossed" is basically Ennis' take on a zombie apocalypse.

Netflix has announced that the Duffer brothers will be exploring the Upside Down in cartoon form in a Stranger Things animated series. The show draws influence from 80s sci-fi classics, like E.T. and Altered States, to tell stories about supernatural forces invading the American suburbs. Netflix is clearly interested in keeping the franchise alive after the flagship series ends its run, and that includes a cartoon.

A lot happened during the season 4 finale of The Boys. Among them was Ashley Barrett taking a shot of Compound V after hearing that she was on the list of people Homelander wanted dead. The problem with taking any V is that the results are random. You could become as strong as Homelander, as fast as A-Train, or end up with hammer hands like Groundhawk. Unfortunately for Ashley, taking the shot was the only way to save her life.
After Ashley takes the shot, her head grows and her wig falls off. It’s like her brain was growing out of her skull. It’s easy to think that she’ll develop telepathy or telekinesis. Telepathy would keep her a step ahead of Homelander at all times. However, another way to stay alive is to become invulnerable. Jack from Jupiter is the only character in The Boys comic book that can do that.

“The Boys” recently wrapped it’s fourth season, but if you’re craving just a bit more with the supes, Prime Video just dropped a blooper reel.
The laugh-out-loud featurette shows almost three minutes of “The Boys” cast botching lines and takes, spewing expletives in typical fashion, and trying to make one another break during a scene.
One highlight moment shows Simon Pegg’s hospitalized Hugh Campbell making Jack Quaid break in what would otherwise be a tender moment.
“What is that? You love it,” Quaid asks in the scene about a drink Pegg’s character is sipping.
“It’s my own urine,” Pegg responds before taking a big swig.
Quaid, naturally, loses it.
Another moment shows Antony Starr as Homelander continuously refering to the character Cameron Coleman – played by Matthew Edison – as Cameron Crowe. Other gags include Jim Beaver accidentally sinking a putt when he was supposed to miss,...

If it hadn't happened already, it would seem that the most successful superhero parody around has come closer than ever to becoming as big as the real thing. "The Boys" just wrapped up its fourth season on Prime Video and achieved some pretty nifty viewing numbers along the way, as creator Eric Kripke reveled in a post on Twitter (only Homelander would call it "X") just the other day. As luck would have it, this week marks the fifth anniversary of the season 1 premiere along with the entire nerd world descending upon San Diego, California for this year's Comic-Con -- and they decided to mark the occasion by announcing a brand-new spin-off series that will take viewers all the way back to the 1950s, courtesy of a pair of stars that fans are very familiar with.

Prime Video’s violent superhero series, “The Boys,” recently announced that season five will be the last, but that won’t stop the universe from expanding. Today, during “The Boys” San Diego Comic-Con panel, it was announced that Prime Video has ordered the prequel series “Vought Rising.”
If that’s not intriguing enough, two familiar faces will lead the series.
“Vought Rising” will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who play Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively.
The universe of The Boys is expanding again.
At Comic-Con on Friday, Prime Video announced that it’s ordered a prequel series called Vought Rising that will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, reprising their roles from the flagship series.
Ackles made an appearance onstage at Hall H in San Diego to thunderous applause, and Cash announced the series in a video. Vought Rising joins The Boys‘ college-set spinoff Gen V and the animated show The Boys Presents: Diabolical in Prime Video’s franchise. The 1950s-set series takes place in New York City and, as Ackles said at Comic-Con, will track the “humble yet diabolical” beginnings of Vought.
The Comic-Con panel allowed the main show to take a victory lap after an acclaimed season that also shared tragic parallels to real life.

While “The Boys” may be ending with the upcoming Season 5, the franchise will continue with a new prequel series called “Vought Rising.” The show was announced during the “Boys” Comic-Con panel on Friday and will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, reprising their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively.
The news came at the end of Prime Video’s Sdcc panel for the superhero satire. After showrunner Eric Kripke joked they were introducing a new talent, Jensen walked onstage to the delight of the crowd. That’s when the star confirmed he is returning as a series regular for “The Boys” Season 5. As exciting as this news may be, it was a bit expected for some fans as the return of Solider Boy was teased in the Season 4 finale.
Ackles then announced the upcoming “Vought Rising.” Set in the 1950s, the show will track the “humble” origins of the superhero corporation Vought International.

Antony Starr is practically invincible in his role as the super-powered Homelander in Prime Video’s The Boys.
But he confessed during an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers that one character on the show left him weak in the knees. That would be Elisabeth Shue, who played Vought International boss Madelyn Stillwell earlier in the series.
Shue became his crush as a young boy after seeing The Karate Kid, Starr said.
“When I was little, and she was actually not that much older than me, but slightly. I was a big fan of The Karate Kid,” Starr said. “I used to do karate when I was a little kid, and my dad took me to see The Karate Kid at the movies. And Ali, aka Elisabeth Shue, was probably my first on-screen crush.”
When Shue was cast, it was a big moment for Starr.

The Boys franchise is massive, spanning a graphic novel series and several original Prime Video series. Currently, there are three series on Prime Video; The Boys (2019 -), Gen V (2023 -), and an animated series called The Boys Presents: Diabolical (2022). A fourth series spin-off called The Boys: Mexico is currently in the works, but it doesn't have a projected release date. All of these shows focus on a world where superheroes exist. Each superhero (Supe) gets their powers from a substance administered to them as a child called Compound V.
Although Compound V is a powerful serum, there's little control over how it manifests in the people it's administered to. This results in a wide range of superpowers, from expected results like superhuman strength and endurance to heat vision to some strange powers that most superhero media would likely skip over.

The Other Guys Director Adam McKay Wanted to Make ‘The Boys’ Movie Trilogy Back in 2008 - Main Image
Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys has become one of the most celebrated comic book adaptations today, but the series could have ended up being a whole trilogy of movies that came out on the big screen.
As it turns out, there was actually a plan to make a whole trilogy based on The Boys around the same time that Iron Man came out; but development didn’t push through, and fans got the show that’s currently streaming on Prime.
According to Rolling Stone, director Adam McKay was actually developing an adaptation of The Boys which they were planning to turn into a trilogy of films. Development apparently went as far as a finished screenplay and demo animatics, but it never got the greenlight because it was ‘pre-mcu Hollywood’.

WARNING: Season 4, Episode 4 spoilers ahead
The fourth episode of “The Boys” Season 4 has landed, and it's already being regarded as the best of the season so far. With a stellar 9.1 star rating on IMDb, the episode titled “Wisdom of the Ages” has fans buzzing about its shocking twists and turns. The episode centers around Vought's new show "Truth Bomb" hosted by the supe Firecracker (Valorie Curry). While the Boys attempt to blackmail Firecracker, she outmaneuvers them by leaking the details herself. Having turned the tables, she then calls out Starlight (Erin Moriarty) with another shocking allegation.
Meanwhile, A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) goes snooping around Homelander’s apartment, snatching a vial of Compound V and coming face-to-face with Ashley (Colby Minifie), who’s also doing some creeping of her own. Both are putting themselves at considerable risk, as Homelander (Antony Starr) has been on a rampage killing Vought employees.
One of the more gripping storylines involves Butcher's (Karl Urban) deteriorating health condition. With a mysterious worm-like creature burrowing into his brain, speculation is rife that his previous use of Compound V has given rise to a sentient illness. The parallels to the animated "Diabolical" spin-off series could hint at darker consequences ahead.
Meanwhile, the supe-killing virus fans first saw in “Gen V” raises concerns about its potential impact on newly powered characters like Hughie's father (Simon Pegg). If released, the virus may strip their abilities or lead to fatal outcomes. The episode's closing moments suggest Hughie's mother slips his father Compound V after Hughie gets cold feet.
As of this writing, “Wisdom of the Ages” is the third-highest rated episode of the series on IMDb. The top-rated episode is Season 3’s “Herogasm” at 9.6/10, followed by the Season 2 finale “What I Know” at 9.4. The high rating for the mid-season episode is a good sign for the season’s progression, as the first three episodes’ average of 7.6 was well below the overall series average of 8.7.

This post contains spoilers for "The Boys."
There's a reason why "The Boys" keeps Antony Starr's Homelander around while crafting some of its most significant and compelling storylines. One of the most unpredictably dangerous Supes manufactured by Vought, Homelander's presence provides impetus to the titular "Boys" to keep playing such a rigged game, as killing the milk-drinking Supe is a part of the show's endgame. Starr has elevated Homelander into a figure mired in complexities; he imparts the character with a singular brand of desperation-fueled evil that only becomes more twisted with each passing season. Starr's turn as Homelander cements the character's idiosyncratic presence within the "Boys" universe, where almost every iteration of the Supe benefits from the actor's remarkably layered and scene-stealing performance.
Keeping this in mind, it is no surprise that Starr voiced Homelander both in the animated anthology series "The Boys Presents: Diabolical" and the "Call of Duty" games,...

Well, well, how quickly things change. All along, the original plan for Prime Video's hit superhero supervillain series "The Boys" has been to span a total of five seasons -- at least according to creator Eric Kripke's response to a question-and-answer session on Twitter back in October of 2020. But having couched it in terms of another failed prediction he once made while working on "Supernatural," which he similarly envisioned to last five seasons and ended up watching it expand to 15, Kripke knows better than anyone that writers make plans and the television gods laugh. Well, consider them well and truly busting a gut over today's news that the creative's initial idea for "The Boys" is, in fact, coming to fruition after all. Just days before season 4 debuts, Kripke has taken to social media (via Variety) to announce that the upcoming fifth season will also be the show's last. As...

Now, as fans have wondered what season 4 of the series would entail, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke was gracious enough to clue us in revealing that the upcoming season will also take a jibe at the upcoming United States election. This would definitely provide the relevance that the show needed with its narrative.

Eric Kripke had originally said that he envisioned The Boys lasting “five seasons total,” but the Prime Video series was renewed for a fifth season last month, with no indication it would be the last. Plans obviously change, and while Kripke may not know when The Boys will conclude, he does have an ending in mind for when that day comes.
“You can’t build a show that’s about these two forces of Homelander and Butcher slowly closing in on each other without bringing that to a head,” Kripke told Empire. “Whenever that last episode occurs, I know what happens.” The Boys has been a big success for Prime Video, turning into a full-on franchise with various spin-offs, including Gen V, The Boys: Diabolical, and the upcoming The Boys: Mexico. As the franchise expands, Kripke says he knows how important it is “that we don’t f***ing sell out.

Every time a new season of The Boys arrives, it does so with a valid question: how can it possibly top what came last time? With each successive season, Prime Video’s satirical superhero series – in which powered-up individuals exist, and are largely monstrous people – ups the ante on its shocking scenes, gratuitous gore, and pointed political storytelling. Now, Season 4 is imminent, following the wilder-than-ever Season 3, and the debauched antics of YA spin-off Gen V – while Season 5 has already been confirmed to follow, promising more story to come in the war between Superman-alike psychopath Homelander (Antony Starr), and his human nemesis Billy Butcher (Karl Urban).
But fear not – good shows can’t last forever, and showrunner Eric Kripke has a proper ending in mind for The Boys, whenever that time arises. “You can’t build a show that’s about these two forces of Homelander and Butcher slowly closing in...

After a lengthy hiatus and the premiere of the spin-off series “Gen V,” the wait for new episodes of “The Boys” is finally coming to an end. Eric Kripke’s satirical superhero franchise returns to Prime Video in 2024, and a new trailer promises that Season 4 will be every bit as dramatic (and R-rated) as its predecessors.
The new trailer, which debuted at Ccxp São Paulo on Saturday, shows the supes dealing with the aftermath of their battle with Homelander (Anthony Starr) and preparing for a looming election as the existence of superheroes becomes an increasingly polarizing topic in America.
In addition to returning stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti, Season 4 sees Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan joining the cast.
