Airline Disaster or movie disaster?

Well, right from the moment I laid eyes on the cover to this movie, I thought this was going to be one of those movies. You know the kind that I am talking about, the movies that you just know are going to be crappy. And I was right, no doubt about it.

First of all the story, well parts of it were alright, but parts of it were ridiculous. The Aryan Brotherhood? What? Why? Why would they be causing something like that? I am not pro or con to the Aryan Brotherhood, but the usage of their organization and name in a movie of this type seemed so out of place. Secondly, there were so many mistakes and dumb things throughout the movie. The sky marshal on the plane? Was he blind? Or had he just gone to the Evil Henchman School of Aiming? He was the worst marksman ever! The effects in the movie were, well lets just say questionable. The CGIs were mostly watchable, but not really believable.

It was funny to see Scott Valentine and Meredith Baxter together on the screen again. Most from my age would probably remember them playing together in the "Family Ties" TV show.

Well, this movie was bearable to watch, but definitely not one that you would want to return to again later for a second viewing. There are far worse disaster movies out there than this one, though. If you have nothing else to watch, and just want to lay waste to an hour and a half, then this could do the trick. But I highly doubt it, as there are far more interesting movies out there to pick from.

Hillariously terrible

The poor plot, acting and everything else have already been touched on, but I was very amused at the Secret Service woman who just sat by and let people get shot and a hand cut off when shes sat there holding a gun and apparently the bad guys will always freeze when she aims at them.. I have to say though, my favourite line was " Madam President, the Secret Service informed me that the First Lady and your children are in the bunker". Either that went completely unnoticed by the film makers and the 'actress' who said it, or they are quietly trying to imply that the female President is gay. Can't say I've ever seen a film before where they've suggested that, so I like it just for having some balls!

It's not about genetically-engineered monsters, but it's still terrible

Alongside their oddly popular movies about giant monsters battling it out, The Asylum also like to make low rent disaster movies typically involving CGI planes. AIRLINE DISASTER is such a movie but it turns out to be a copy of the likes of AIR FORCE ONE (itself a copy of DIE HARD) rather than genuine disaster movie like AIRPLANE VS VOLCANO, so that title is a bit of a misnomer.

It's still terrible, however, with poor production values throughout and a script which goes nowhere. The storyline involves a gang of terrorists who hijack a passenger plane; the authorities want to bring the flight down, but a special agent hiding in the cargo hold decides to take matters into her own hands by tackling the terrorists single-handedly.

AIRLINE DISASTER tries to be an adult-themed movie with a hard edge but the added-in violence and swearing just feels silly. The acting is poor across the board, and for a supposed action film this has generally bad choreography which saps enjoyment from the admittedly suspenseful scenario. It's the repetitive inserts of awful-looking CGI planes which really sink this film, though.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen

Awful, just so utterly awful, you'd think the film-makers were about to throw couple of thousand dollars on a fire, and then thought to make this instead. As a joke. I just can't believe that the actors could keep a straight face throughout all of this.

The only thing I learnt from this movie is that all satellites make bleepy noises in orbit when they're being accessed.

The rogue mega-laser tearing up a street and a couple of buses was pretty funny, but the best humour comes when the plane is coming almost at street level over the city, people are running terrified, and a young woman stops to look over her shoulder. And we get a close up. She has a look on her face like she has mild indigestion. And then she continues running. Class.

If they'd pitched this as a comedy I might actually have bought it!

Awful

A few movies are so bad they're good. This one is so bad it's just awful. The title is awful. The plot is awful. The sets are awful. The CGI is awful. The bad guys are awful, and not even in the way that bad guys are supposed to be awful. The good guys are awful, too. The directing, lighting, sound, music, editing, casting, costuming, locations, visual effects, stunts and camera-work were all awful. The writing is especially awful. The TSA must have been awful to let the bad guys on the plane with so many guns. Holding phony airplane steering wheels, shaking them around while pretending to control the plane and clipping the tops of buildings and radio towers while flying at 27,000 feet is awful. The beginning is awful. The climax is awful. And without spoiling the ending, believe me, it's awful. Everything about this movie is so awful, that it doesn't rate a superlative of any kind: even the awfulness of this movie is awful.

Worst movie of the 2010

Totally agree with the 3 previous posters - no need to elaborate on the same points. But there are so many things that does not make any sense. 10 hijackers have guns on an airplane? How is it possible to get through any security these days with a gun. The special FBI agent runs around with her gun and when she does some swift kicks supposed to be looking like some martial arts, they blurred the movie so you can not see any moves. The sky martial, an old retired man in the back corner looks like any old gentleman but totally scared and pulls out a cell phone and texts "I love you" - stands up and pulls out his gun also and one of the hijackers pops him. He knew he would be shot? It was so lame.

One third through the movie I wanted to turn it off, but I left it running while doing other things at the same time, just throwing an eye at it now and then.

It was B-acting, lame stunts, the air craft take offs are animations and so obviously studio done.

Do not waste your time on this. You will have a better time washing your dog or pulling weed in the backyard.

The producer should be billed for putting out such low quality stuff. This DVD should hopefully not even make it to Block Buster, NetFlix or the Red Box.

What a dog!

Who ever gave this a rating of 2 was being generous.

In 2010, CGI has come along way and should be realistic. This film has the Worst CGI I have ever seen, not to mention the worst acting, and worst continuity. It reminded me of the movie Airplane, and it's sequels, but those movies were meant to be parodies and funny. I think this was supposed to be a drama.

The actual story line could have made for an interesting thriller movie, but the producer of this film missed everything that could have been missed on every count and ended up with an embarrassing entry on his resume.

I cannot believe they spent money and came up with this crap. Meridith Baxter should have a long talk with her agent about what this will do for her career in film.

trash

A waste of talent when't into this piece of garbage. How could Meredith Baxter and the rest of the cast participate in the making of this film, makes me wonder. I saw the film, airline disaster for sale on Amazon.com. 22.95 plus postage and handling. I would not pay 22 cents. If this show up in any rental shops or stores, avoid it like the plague. The special effects in this film were so cheap, and the action scenes, one agent disarms all the highjackers,I think their were 10 of them, and all of them got through the security points with their guns. The photography was bad,to be truthful, their is nothing I can say good about this film. Avoid it.

This just doesn't have the class of a really bad B Movie

I quite enjoy watching really bad B movies. Some are very good in a very bad way but most of all they are very funny because they are not intended to be.

If you consider Ed Woods B movies from the 50's which were truly awful but today are kind of classic for their awfulness they really are in a different league of B movie to this. Ed Wood was a little bit nutty and totally believed in what he was doing, that's what made his movies great. Anyway, in today's world it really amazes me anyone would put up the money for this utter drivel. The makers have tried to make a serious suspense movie but have failed on ever level imaginable including those you cant imagine. I couldn't watch it all. Cliché after cliché and just so utterly predictable. Highly irritating within about 3 nano seconds. If the plane had crashed and everyone died within the first five minutes of the film and then it just went on to show pictures of fake log fire for the next hour and a half I would have been satisfied. At least then there would have been a point, insulting, but a point never the less.

Please, if your going to make a B movie make it truly awful. Have the scenery falling down, when actors fluff their words, just carry on. Have the decency to respect the genre.

the word to describe this film, would not be printable

Meredith Baxter must have been in desperate need for money to star in this example of a airplane disaster type of film. To begin with, around ten individuals were able to get through security with their guns and board this aircraft. With all the security,at our nations airports, I don't think so. The special effects were sub standard,by todays standards. I have a DVD,When worlds collide, made in 1950 and the special effects in that film, made about 60 years ago, were far superior, than this cheap film. I did get a bootleg copy of this film, and I doubt no video store would wan't to have it in their rental selection. If this film ever does come available on DVD,it will probably end up in the 99 cent bargain pile.

The stupidest airplane movie ever seen...

I just cannot believe how such 'bad' movie can actually be made these days. All the 'aviation' related material is simple a joke. Everything is wrong I cannot even know where to start from. The graphics of the airplane are horrible.

Example? How can 'cargo' be untied in the cargo compartment in a plane? Both pilot 'sticks' move independently... and sideways too!!! For such a 'modern' aircraft, the interior is of an old aircraft... (lack of taste here)... Since when the Autopilot Control Box is in the cargo compartment and exposed.... I don't understand 'how' these kind of movies actually are permitted to go out... Bad acting (cheap actors), bad script, bad direction... How can it be possible. Gheee... Not even kids will swallow it... Bad Movie overall

How not to make a film 101

Flawed? Yes. Exciting? Also yes!

Sure, even as I watched this film I was aware that some of its details of how an airliner operates were unlikely, that if a satellite armed with a laser could accomplish what this movie's did there would have been no need to send Seals after Mr. Bin Laden, that when airliners chop off the summits of tall buildings and monuments with their wings those wings are unlikely to survive, that the attractive Secret Service brunette could have used her handgun much, much earlier than she did … but I also agree with Big Bwana's review. Defects and all, this is an exciting movie, sufficiently well-acted, and with special effects that worked well enough on my laptop's screen. Had its overall rating been a 4 or 5 I'd have felt no need to add another review. However, I enjoyed Airline Disaster and believe that it's being treated unfairly.

Wow - what can be noted?

Airline Disaster - had to be a drama right? Maybe a western movie? Nope...

Ooops...well i guess I was wrong, because it wasn't a comedy and it wasn't action and it wasn't drama or suspense either.

It was a mix of almost everything wrong that could have had another two rewrites and made into a really cool movie - but lack of judgment proved once again that stupid people in spots of power still have control over our world, what we watch, what is built and the decisions they make with the money that is in their hands.

What I did like - was that the landmarks were destroyed, people died on the ground and that staff from the government organizations get fired - but it still needed work.

With a little bit of effort and some more money, a well known cast and a little more action and login and this could have been a blockbuster.

I Can't Believe I Watched the whole thing.

With the exception of Meredith Baxter, the entire cast were B actors at best and the majority of them were laughable. The special effects were subpar.

I can see where they did put money into making the film and the story line was good.

Reasonably Entertaining

Not every film can have a 50 million budget. This is obviously a low budget film, still, the film is paced well, with no dead or boring scenes. No complete absurdities, You can dispel belief and get into the action. Thus, this is entertaining for being a B film. The less expensive CGI can break the suspension of belief, but, I say roll with them and continue to enjoy the action.

Three different story-lines converging into one. Even an underlying moral message about greed. Plenty of angle shots, editing, and story changes to keep you interested. While there is no gratuitous killing or blood, be warned this is not for children.

Baxter and the Secret Service agent (McKeon) stand out as actors, not Oscar material, yet, believable and never out of character or cheesy. I know someone will argue that with me, but, I rate B movies with other B movies, not against A movies.

Worth the rental for a good B action film night, or buy for $4.99 and take to Thanksgiving weekend.
