Vin Diesel has suggested that he may return as Groot in a new Marvel project separate from the Guardians of the Galaxy series. The actor shared the update in an Instagram post outlining his schedule for 2025.

“Disney wants their Planet X! Which some say is Marvel’s most anticipated movie, haha. The film where Groot returns to his home planet,” Diesel wrote.

His statement has led to speculation about a standalone film focused on Groot’s origins and home world. Planet X, known as the home of the Flora Colossus species, has appeared in Marvel comics but has yet to be explored in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A day after the Oscars ceremony, Diesel took to Instagram to update his followers on a few of his projects, but the one that stood out the most - because previously it was little more than a passing wish-list suggestion - was Planet X, which would be a new solo Marvel movie featuring Guardians of the Galaxy favorite, Groot. After mentioning speaking with Lionsgate about The Last Witch Hunter and when to fit playing xXx's Xander Cage again into his schedule, Diesel wrote, "Also, Disney wants their Planet X!

Since first appearing in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot has been a fan-favourite character among MCU fans. After sacrificing himself to save his teammates during that adventure, the sentient tree returned in the sequel as the adorable Baby Groot.

Later, we'd see Groot become a moody teenager, though he grew up a little in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 before transforming into the hulking "Alpha Groot" in a memorable mid-credits scene.

Coming exclusively to Amazon on January 28, the 2015 sci-fi fantasy film is presented in 4K with Hdr and DTS:x audio.

In an exclusive interview with JoBlo at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, Wood expressed his eagerness to reprise his role in the Oscar-winning franchise, which is already reuniting most of the original creative team, led by Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis.

Wood was at Fantasia for the world premiere of his new adventure comedy Bookworm, which was filmed in New Zealand, the home of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. With the newly-announced The Hunt for Gollum possibly taking place near the beginning of The Fellowship of the Ring, appearances by familiar Lord of the Rings characters, including Frodo, is possible. When asked if he would appear in the film, Woods made his willingness clear.

Vin Diesel has worked his way up to being one of Hollywood’s A-list movie stars and has starred in some big franchises including The Fast and Furious, XXX, and The Chronicles of Riddick. Fast X: Part 2 prepares a hot finale to the acclaimed Fast & Furious film series nearly 25 years after its inception. However, franchise star Vin Diesel provides a chilling update to the upcoming sequel with new concept art potentially teasing what to expect.

Per his Instagram page, Diesel shared a first-look concept image for Fast X: Part 2 which shows a moving car in the middle of an icy setting. The visual harkens back to the end of Fast X, which saw Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and Cipher (Charlize Theron) escaping an Antarctica-based black site prison run by the Agency before Gisele (Gal Gadot), previously presumed dead following the events of Fast & Furious 6, emerges from a submarine hatch. In the caption, Diesel teased, "Wait until you see the American road trip."

Riddick: Furya is officially moving forward. A production start date for the fourth entry in the Vin Diesel-led science fiction franchise has just been announced.

According to Deadline, Diesel will begin production on Furya on Aug. 26, 2024, with shooting set to occur in Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Diesel will produce for One Race Films, alongside Samantha Vincent. Thorsten Schumacher for Rocket Science and Lars Sylvest for Thank You Studios will also produce alongside Joe Neurauter. Rocket Science, which repped international rights, has already completed worldwide cornerstone pre-sales. A North American distributor has not been confirmed yet. The first film was released by USA Films, while the next two were distributed by Universal Pictures.

Exclusive: Sony has preemptively closed a deal for film rights to Grady Hendrix’s short story “Ankle Snatcher,” tapping Hendrix to adapt it for the screen, sources tell Deadline. Hendrix is also set to produce alongside Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Tony Shaw, as well as Aperture Entertainment’s Adam Goldworm.

The first short story Hendrix has taken to market, after setting up numerous novels and original screenplays for adaptation, “Ankle Snatcher” was released in September 2023 as part of Amazon Original Stories’ Creature Feature collection comprised of six original stories written by New York Times bestselling authors, the others being Joe Hill, Josh Malerman, Paul Tremblay, Jason Mott, and Chandler Baker.
