Jason Ritter, who wrapped production on CBS’ already-renewed Matlock back in October, has lined up a “super” side hustle, on HBO’s upcoming Green Lantern series.

TVLine can confirm that Ritter has been cast in Lanterns as Billy Macon, “a good-looking charmer who does his father’s bidding,” the official character description tells us. “Capitalizing on his family’s reputation, he clings to his small-town ego and has everything to lose.”

HBO's Green Lanternseries has added another face, this time from a new television drama that has been making waves in the ratings scene. Set in the DC Universe, Lanterns follows Aaron Pierrer and Kyle Chandler as John Stewart and Hal Jordan, respectively, as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. If a new report is to be trusted, then one of the cast members from the hit CBS remake Matlock is set to join the first live-action series from the Dcu.

According to The InSneider, Jason Ritter has joined Lanterns and will play the husband of Kelly Macdonald's character, Sheriff Kerry, who was previously described as "a no-nonsense woman deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town." It's unclear how significant Ritter's role will be, but there is a chance there is more than meets the eye as the Green Lantern duo looks to solve an alien conspiracy.

NBC has given out a pilot order to the single-cam project “Stumble.”

The show is described as “A mockumentary about the ridiculously high stakes competitive world of junior college cheer.” The project was originally set up with a put pilot commitment at NBC in late 2024.

Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof are writing and executive producing the pilot. Dana Honor is executive producing via Defining Eve Productions, with cheerleading coach Monica Aldama also executive producing. Universal Television is the studio.

Both Jeff and Liz Astrof, who are brother and sister, are veteran comedy writers and producers, but this marks the first time they have teamed up to create a series.

Jeff recently created the Starz series “Shining Vale” and previously co-created the NBC mockumentary series “Trial & Error.” His other credits include “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “Grounded for Life,” and “Friends.”

HBO's Green Lantern series has unveiled the first look at the titular intergalactic cops, and they look straight out of True Detective. Lanterns stars Aaron Pierre as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, two of the most iconic members of the Green Lantern Corps from the source material. The upcoming Dcu series, which has been described as a boots-on-the-ground story about an alien conspiracy, is now in production. If the general vibe HBO is going for is indeed a gritty prestige drama, it's safe to say they nailed it so far.

Top 1980s and 1990s comedy writer-producer David W. Duclon, who created Punky Brewster and co-developed Silver Spoons, died Wednesday morning, January 15, after a long illness. He was 74.

Born Warren David Duclon in Rockford, Il, Duclon started his career as a writer on classic 1970s sitcoms such as The Odd Couple, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, The Jeffersons and Diff’rent Strokes.

His first writing credit was on a handful episodes of the The Odd Couple alongside Garry Marshall, who took him under his wing and taught him how to be a showrunner while Duclon worked on his hits Happy Days and spinoff Laverne & Shirley.

Over the next decade, Duclon went on to create a slew of sitcoms of his own. He developed CBS’ 1979 comedy Working Stiffs starring James Belushi and Michael Keaton; co-developed the 1982-debuting Silver Spoons, which ran on NBC for four seasons and another in first-run syndication; and...

Joe Egan, who co-founded Stealers Wheel with Gerry Rafferty and co-wrote and sang on the enduring hit “Stuck in the Middle with You,” died July 6. He was 77. The news was shared on the late Rafferty’s official Facebook page, but no details were provided.

“Very sad news that the other half of Stealers Wheel, Joe Egan, passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon with his nearest and dearest around him,” read the post on the page run by Rafferty’s daughter, Martha. “I will always remember him as a sweet and gentle soul. May he rest in peace.”

Egan — who originally dreamed of soccer stardom — and Rafferty met as teenagers at St. Mirin’s Academy in their hometown of Paisley, Scotland, and formed Stealers Wheel in the early 1970s. Their first two singles stiffed, but the third would become a rock and pop standard.

At MegaCon Orlando, My Name Is Earl stars Jaime Pressly (Joy), Jason Lee (Earl), and Ethan Suplee (Randy) were all in attendance. Exclusive: Veteran actress, comedian and musician Kate Micucci (Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities) has launched development on Toy, a new animated series based on the popular Keenspot comic book created by Brett Murphy and Wilson Gandolpho. In addition to producing, Micucci will star and create music for the cartoon, having already recorded a first pass of the theme song.

Tobi Wilson, who serves as Senior Writer for Cartoon Network’s long-running hit The Amazing World of Gumball, is attached as showrunner and co-producer. Kate Micucci says she’s cancer-free after undergoing surgery last week to treat a lung cancer diagnosis.

The Raising Hope and Big Bang Theory actress shared the news over the weekend on TikTok, where she confirmed that the surgery “went great” and the results “came back that it worked.”

“I don’t need to do any other treatment, so big thank you to all my doctors and nurses and everyone that took just really great care of me and, and thanks to figuring it out early,” she said in the video.

The actress added that she was “feeling really good today,” along with being both excited and “truly grateful” for the treatment outcome.

Kate Micucci said Monday that she is cancer-free after having surgery a week ago following a lung cancer diagnosis.

The Big Bang Theory alum took to TikTok over the weekend to thank well-wishers “for of the good wishes and all the love” after revealing her diagnosis.

“I have great news which is that I am cancer-free,” she said Saturday. “The surgery last week went great, all the reports I got back are that it worked out and I don’t need to do any more treatment.”

She also thanked her nurses and doctors for the care and for “figuring [the diagnosis] out early, because I am very very lucky and I know that.”

Last Tuesday, Micucci, 43, shared on TikTok that she underwent lung cancer surgery December 11. She said the diagnosis was a surprise because she’s never smoked. “But I guess it happens, and so the greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out — I’m all good,” she said at the time.

Mucci most recently was cast in a voice role for the upcoming animated Angry Birds Mystery Island TV series. Her other credits include NBC’s Four Kings, Scrubs, Till Death, Raising Hope, Steven Universe, How I Met Your Mother and Malcolm in the Middle, among others. Film credits include The Last Hurrah, Bart Got a Room and When in Rome.

Also an artist and a musician, she and Riki Lindhome comprise the musical comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates.

Multiple reports indicate that Axelrod died on Nov. 28 of natural causes in Los Angeles.
