From Terminator to Governator to Motivator, Arnold Schwarzenegger has shown tremendous growth since first emerging in the public eye more than 50 years ago. Now, he is reflecting on how age, time and experience has changed him.
Ahead of the release of his new book, “Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life”, Arnold Schwarzenegger told People that, now that he is well into his 70s, he has discovered the benefits of redirecting his purpose. “All I’m trying to do is just try to use my talents and help other people. It’s the simple stuff that I do that really helped me get where I am today.” He added, “So today I feel good where I am. I feel I’m much wiser. I’m much smarter. I’m not as crazy. I think more about people. I think more about people’s feelings. In your 20s, you don’t do any of that.

While Expend4bles underperformed at the box office this weekend, the movie might find more of an audience once it hits streaming in the next few months. While I didn’t love the film, I still had a decent enough time with it. Director Scott Waugh, who previously directed Act of Valor and Need for Speed, kept the movie moving quickly and packed it with some good action, including a big fight between bad guy Iko Uwais and Jason Statham’s Lee Christmas. In our exclusive interview, Waugh explains how he made sure the fight was more two-sided than usual for a Statham scrap. Waugh also explains what it was like making an Expend4bles movie where Stallone’s role is pretty small. He also tells us about an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie he’s making, Breakout. He reacts to the surprising success of Hidden Strike, a Jackie Chan/ John Cena movie he...

This weekend sees the release of Expend4bles (read my review), and its director, Scott Waugh, is already planning a follow-up action movie. This time, instead of Sylvester Stallone, he’s tearing up with another action icon: Arnold Schwarzenegger. As previously reported, the film, Breakout, stars Arnold as “Terry Reynolds. When his stepson, Daniel, is framed and sentenced to 25 years in a foreign country, Reynolds makes a daring jailbreak to save him and must overcome an overzealous prison warden in a race against time to avoid capture and flee the country.”
Recently, we spoke to Waugh and asked him about making Arnold’s latest. While he admitted that the strikes have brought the film to a temporary stop, he seems excited about its possibilities: “I think Breakout’s gonna be a really cool movie for Arnold. It’s really gonna get back to real hard Arnold. There’s not much comedy...

The silver ball wizards at Stern Pinball are teasing something spectacular for the game company’s next pinball machine with an interactive experience based on Marvel‘s Venom! Stern Pinball posted a new video (below) teasing its upcoming table, which we’ve heard is appearing at San Diego Comic-Con next week. Stern’s Venom pinball machine has been rumored as the next table from Brian Eddy, with the production of the table getting bumped by James Bond in the line of anticipated products.
Details about Stern Pinball’s Venom pinball machine remain a mystery, though we know it’s a Brian Eddy design with artwork by Zombie Yeti. A Venom pinball machine is Stern’s third most hyped pinball project, with Jaws and Back to the Future occupying the top two slots. Europe has a brand-new media giant.
Vuelta Group, a private-equity fueled company headed by former Canal+ and Goldman Sachs executive Jerome Levy, made a very big launch on the European scene on Thursday, announcing its acquisition of Scandinavian independent film company Scanbox, German distributor/producer SquareOne Entertainment and French international sales company Playtime.
Vuelta (Latin for “to go around”) is planning future acquisitions in France, Italy, Spain and the Benelux region as it looks to build a pan-European television and film studio focusing on the production and distribution of European content across the continent.
The Vuelta launch is a further sign of consolidation in the European indie market, which has already seen several independent producers and distributors subsumed into Pe-backed studios such as Leonine and Mediawan or snatched up by global indie giants like Fremantle and Banijay.

Exclusive: SquareOne Entertainment CEO Al Munteanu says new European studio Vuelta Group is about “distributors who morph into producers — that’s our DNA, believing in film as a theatrical proposition, but also in TV production.”
As Deadline revealed this morning, Munich-based SquareOne has become part of Vuelta Group, a union of European film companies also including France’s Playtime and Scandinavia’s Scanbox, with more companies set to join this year.
SquareOne, founded by Munteanu in 2002, is well known as a distributor of movies including The Imitation Game, Book Club and The Wife. Recent Cannes market pre-buys include Breakout starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nic Cage’s sequel to Lords of War, and Daisy Ridley starrer Cleaner.
Munteanu, the former MTV and Rtl presenter, has been growing SquareOne’s TV (and podcasting) production footprint in recent years with the German adaptation of Your Honor, starring Sebastian Koch and Paula Beer, and Italian mafia series L’Ora.

Hollywood icon Arnold Schwarzenegger has discussed the origin and the legacy of his most famous catchphrase, “I’ll be back,” revealing that he thought it “sounded stupid.” Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger explains how he fought against the line while filming the first The Terminator back in 1984, arguing with director James Cameron over how it should be delivered.
“I think about how it was an accident. [Terminator director] Jim Cameron and I were debating how to say the line because I was not comfortable with saying “I’ll.” I said, “I think it’s stronger to say, ‘I will be back.’ ” Cameron said, “Are you the scriptwriter now? It’s just one word. Don’t tell me how to write. I don’t tell you how to act.” I said, “You tell me how to act every fucking minute! What are you talking about?!” So he says, “Arnold, you think it sounds weird.

The legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t let age slow him down. The action icon is 75 years old but stays as motivated as he always has been. This motivation, which once led to his famous physique and an impressive Governor win, is why he will be seen in a new Netflix action comedy series, Fubar, a new introspective documentary, Arnold, a new action film Breakout, and a new self-help book, Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life. The Hollywood Reporter sits down with Schwarzenegger as he gets incredibly candid about his feelings on movies, politics, and his personal life.
One inevitable topic of discussion is Arnold’s future with the Terminator movies. When asked if the series was finished after the dismal reaction to Terminator: Dark Fate, Schwarzenegger feels the franchise will go on, but without him. “The franchise is not done. I’m done. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been a significant cultural force in Hollywood for more than 40 years, taking time out to launch a political career and generally conquer the world during that time. Not bad for a guy who started out driving tanks in the Austrian army.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally returning to the action genre four years after his last film. "Breakout," a prison escape thriller from director Scott Waugh, is currently set to begin shooting later this year, according to Deadline. The film will end up marking the first time Schwarzenegger has appeared on the big screen since 2019, when he starred in the legacy sequel "Terminator: Dark Fate." Although the former action superstar and ex-governor of California has a number of additional projects in the works, "Breakout" seems to be the most classically Schwarzenegger-ian action movie on his docket and places the actor in the lead role.
Schwarzenegger famously stepped away from the limelight to pursue his political career for several years, prior to returning to acting. He made a small cameo in 2010's "The Expendables," which released near the end of his governorship, before becoming part of the main cast in the next two sequels.
