10+ - The Most Underrated Film of 2010

The rating is ridiculously low brought on by all the haters who stole this film online. They will stand before a living God someday and give an account. The Bible is clear about the wicked shaking like a leaf at the Great White Throne judgement.

With movies nowadays being nothing but flashy, over-the-top, CG-fests, "Suing the Devil" holds up like osmium. It's a powerful movie about the spiritual battle you face following Jesus as Lord and Savior.

The cinematography is good because it's quite understated and that's a virtue in today's cinema. The acting, while containing pretty lame Southern accents, is still pretty good. Even from the lead dude.

Sorely forgotten in it's day, the script tells a very deep, original and interesting story, with lots of development, respect for the characters, delicate pacing, and a head-spinning ending. The movie is solely about the people and their struggles. Fear takes hold of the audience through the dialogue.

Think of "Suing the Devil" as a Christian Woody Allen trying his hand at a horror/thriller and succeeding. This movie never makes you jump, but it puts you in a general state of discomfort through its atmosphere. As with all memorable supernatural dramas, this one handles its spectacle with discretion and grace.

Isn't that what we hope to see when we watch any movie? 10/10.

Moments of magnificence, but not as hyped as everyone says

SPOILERS THROUGH: I finally saw this and thought it was well above average, if not perfect. I do not think it merits a 4. I think there was such an enormous buzz generated by this film that people were maybe expecting absolute perfection. I know I originally was although after seeing all the '1's, I actually went into this expecting something not so great so I was pleasantly surprised to discover it was actually very good. In my opinion suing the devil was neither a bad movie or a masterpiece, it was something in between, although it did have some moments of utter and complete magnificence.

The things I liked include the visuals which as many have mentioned were lovely. This film was beautiful to look at (shot in Austalia i understand) and I also was intrigued by the story itself and found it both complex and very moving. The performers were all very good and the sweetness of the main character gets you involved. It's an emotional and very poignant story and I wish I'd seen it in the theater.

That being said, there were some things that really prevented me from finding this to be outstanding and took the movie down a little. One was the length. It's not necessarily that the film was to long, it's just that so much was covered and crammed into that time, a lot in the courtroom and that it's both distracting and very difficult to follow. Sometimes a storyline would be developed and then suddenly dropped in the next scene and something entirely new would develop. I think there was plenty of CHARACTER development but not necessarily enough STORY development. I'd have liked to see less jumping around and more focus on a few choice events because it did seem like the movie was cramming to much into the story and it didn't flow well. Maybe it could have been a little shorter as well. It was also REALLY difficult to follow and that made it difficult to enjoy the film to it's fullest potential.

I also found it difficult to hear a lot of what was being said. It seemed like people were speaking to softly or something and that to interfered with the enjoyment aspect. But I was so intrigued by the movie I , eventually, was able to enjoy it anyway. The star who played the devil was superb.

    Thematically Profound, Visually Stunning

This is a non-Hollywood type film, too. There are no fancy sets, and some of the plot and dialogue are improvised, enhancing spontaneity and grim realism. It's a film not unlike 'Courageous' or other spartan Christian films.

"Suing the Devil" is one of the most visually striking film I have ever seen. And the underlying theme of mankind's arrogance, against an implacable Nature, is starkly apparent. The film is visionary, profound. It will leave many viewers changed, enriched, perhaps even a little wiser.

There are many good, very good and great films - too many to list, in fact. What I am hoping to do is label each film I see fit as a "masterwork".

    This film is a masterwork.

A Story And A Character That You Can't Forget,

I just read about this movie in the LA Times! I can't believe it's in Top 2000 most popular movies of all time! It backfired on the downloaders! Yeahhhh!!

I'll never forget my first viewing of this movie at the theater and will always look back fondly on it for one reason: helping me quit smoking cigarettes! I was expecting an intense movie and I got it. Little did I realize how well-received this film would be and how it propelled this small film into the front page of the LA Times Although entertaining, this is not always a fun movie to watch, especially with the scenes with the devil trying to mess with Luke's mother's death Shannen Fields is excellent as the wife of the lead star. A major part of the film is psychological more than violent as Satan constantly taunts "Poor Luke" while he tries his best to defeat Satan on the Witness Stand. The by-play between the two is a game in itself.

The looks on his face, his fascinating vocabulary with intelligent sarcasm and frankness, never ceases to entertain.

    I give the film a solid '8'

Take the movie for what it is...................

I am sick of reading reviews from these nutcases that claim that this movie is too religious, Christian, etc.

Enjoy the movie for what it is. It is a movie meant for a FAITH-BASED audience - those who believe in God. The flack that Borat got and the flack that The Ringer got does not stop those two movies from being great and meaningful in some sense.

Christians are made fun of all the time, and I don't understand why some atheists are being offended for the bringing down of others when those people aren't offended.

I am Filipino and half American and I have mentally retarded family members and I thought that The Ringer was a great movie; This movie is not making fun of Mentally Challenged people anymore than Forrest Gump did.

If you are smart then you have seen the kind of movies Rebecca St. James is in, and you know that some talk of God will exist. If you are offended by this movie, then don't see it. Go see Space Chimps (good movie), unless you are going to be offended by degradation of Life on other Planets, etc.

I agree with the other posters - it's all coming from the same guy: This movie critic who illegally downloaded the film and got caught. Then, in a psychotic way, attacks the film almost everyday. I mean, get a life, dude.

Just, take the movie for what it is. A Movie meant to target a specific audience and bring humor and happiness.
