Warner Bros. Television Renews Overall Deal With ‘Roots’ Producer The Wolper Organization
Image
Exclusive: The Wolper Organization, the company behind the iconic Roots miniseries, is staying in business with Warner Bros. Television Group.

The two companies have renewed their overall deal, meaning that the company will have been in business with the studio for more than 50 years. It marks one of the longest consecutive studio deals in entertainment history.

The multiyear pact will see The Wolper Organization continue to develop and produce television series exclusively for the TV group, alongside its first-look feature deal with the movie studio.

Warner Bros. started working with The Wolper Organization, then run by David L. Wolper, in 1976 after Warner Communications bought it for $1.5M. It is behind three of the most successful limited series of all time: Roots, The Thorn Birds and North and South, was first to bring DC’s Superman franchise to TV and introduced viewers to the likes of Jacques Cousteau and Jane Goodall.

Mckenna Grace Reveals the Secret Love That Named Her Production Company
Image
Your browser does not support the video tag.

Not only is Mckenna Grace one of the most accomplished young actors working right now, but she has already started to dip her toes into other avenues. Most people might be familiar with her music career, and she has contributed original songs to the soundtracks of both Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, movies in which Mckenna Grace starred. She has even co-directed three of her own music videos. One thing people might not know is that she actually co-wrote the screenplay for the Lifetime Original movie The Bad Seed Returns a follow-up to her 2018 film The Bad Seed with her father during the Covid-19 pandemic. The loose remake of the classic Mervyn LeRoy film and William March novel earned her further accolades.

If co-writing a screenplay before you are 18 isn't impressive on its own merits, there is also the...

‘The Good Son’ 30th Anniversary Retrospective – Crew Members Share Memories and Never-Seen Photos from the Set
Image
By the early 1990s, it was still fairly rare to see a Hollywood production invade New England to shoot a film. Things had certainly been made here: Ever heard of Jaws? It was shot entirely on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. And I made a documentary about another one: Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, which was shot entirely in Maine in 1988. In fact, much of my documentary film work has focused on stories native to New England. But, still, we didn’t see the kind of movie activity and buzz that we see nowadays. Despite its natural beauty of mountains, rocky coastlines, and beautiful beaches, New England can be difficult (and expensive) to navigate for a film crew. What’s more, during certain months of the year our weather can be unpredictable and harsh. We’re known for our Nor’easters and blizzards and even the occasional hurricane in the autumn months.

Every Alexander Molony Movie & TV Show Ranked Worst-Best (Including Peter Pan & Wendy)
Image
Alexander Molony has made a name for himself in the world of voice acting, impressively mimicking Shelley Longworth's speech patterns in two episodes of Messy Goes to Okido. Molony's largest TV role to date is voicing the titular character in the light and breezy British animated children's show, Claude. He does a great job bringing the animated dog to life. Moloney's most famous role is Peter in "Peter Pan & Wendy", and he puts a mature and unique spin on the classic character.

Alexander Molony is a young, up-and-coming British actor who recently starred in Disney's Peter Pan & Wendy, a live-action remake of the 1953 animated Peter Pan movie. First appearing on screens in 2017 in three different projects, Molony has worked steadily since then, only taking a significant break during the Covid-19 pandemic. But when movie and TV productions picked up again, Molony was quick to appear in more projects,...

Peter Pan & Wendy Cast & Character Guide
Image
The Peter Pan & Wendy cast features a wide variety of actors, ranging from seasoned stars to young performers making their first-ever movie appearance. A live-action remake of Disney’s classic animated Peter Pan movie from 1953, Peter Pan & Wendy revolves around the titular duo’s adventure to the magical world of Neverland where they contend with a notorious pirate named Captain Hook. Peter Pan & Wendy is director David Lowery’s second Disney movie after Pete’s Dragon, one of the earliest and most critically acclaimed in the Mouse House’s ongoing series of live-action remakes of its classics.

There are both familiar faces and promising up-and-comers in the Peter Pan & Wendy cast. The title characters are played by relative newcomers – Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson, respectively – but the supporting cast includes screen icons like Jude Law, Jim Gaffigan, and the young but prolific Yara Shahidi. During the long...

‘Chip N Dale: Rescue Rangers’ Represents a TV Movie Turning Point
Image
When director Akiva Schaffer first caught wind of “Chip N Dale: Rescue Rangers” being nominated for the Outstanding TV Movie at the Emmys this year, he needed some clarification.

“I didn’t know that [nominations] were even being announced that morning. So when I got the first text I got from one of the writers, I wasn’t sure if it was like a bit, you know. Like a joke that I was missing, that I just wasn’t understanding,” the filmmaker told IndieWire over Zoom. “I basically had to go Google it to make sure.”

The confusion is understandable given how even Emmy voters are wondering what exactly qualifies as an Outstanding TV Movie in the age of streaming? According to this year’s Emmy rules, “A television movie is defined as an original program, which tells a story with a beginning, middle and end, and is broadcast/streamed in...

2022 Emmy Predictions: Best TV Movie
Image
Since the 1960s, Emmy voters have honored telefilms with the Best TV Movie award. Unlike the continuing program categories, this one is not bound by genre restrictions. This typically leads to diverse lineups of films, and it appears this year’s will be no different. Scroll down to see our 2022 Emmy predictions for Best TV Movie.

HBO is the most prolific network in the category’s history, having produced 22 winners from 76 nominations. The most recent of these victories came in 2020 for “Bad Education.” After losing with “Oslo” last year, they are back in the hunt again with the HBO Max films “The Fallout” and “The Survivor.”

Since the academy gave the 2021 prize to “Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square,” they may feel compelled to award “Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas,” “Christmas in Tune,” or “The Waltons: Homecoming” this time. The first is a continuation of NBC’s “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,...

‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Adds Warning to Premiere Episode
Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Caleb McLaughlin, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, and Gaten Matarazzo in Stranger Things (2016)
“Stranger Things” Season 4 Volume 1 will now include a warning card following the massacre that took place at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 children and two teachers were killed. Netflix’s acclaimed sci-fi show takes on a darker tone this season, with the first eight minutes of the premiere episode depicting graphic images of dead children.

The warning will read, “We filmed this season of Stranger Things a year ago. But given the recent tragic shooting at a school in Texas, viewers may find the opening scene of episode 1 distressing. We are deeply saddened by this unspeakable violence, and our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one.”

But given the recent tragic shooting at a school in Texas, viewers may find the opening scene of episode 1 distressing. We are deeply saddened by this unspeakable violence, and our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one.”

This warning will appear before the prior season recap that auto-plays at the beginning of “Stranger Things 4” Episode 1 for viewers in the U.S. only. McKenna Grace Announced The Release Of The Bad Seed Returns Has Been Delayed Following Uvalde Shooting
Mckenna Grace in The Bad Seed Returns (2022)
Variety is reporting that Lifetime is pushing the release of "The Bad Seed Returns" in the wake of the horrific school shooting in Uvalde, TX that has claimed the lives of 19 children and 2 adults.

"The Bad Seed" originated as a novel that was then adapted as a stage play and subsequently a film in 1956 starring Patty McCormack as a precocious pig-tailed little girl who also happened to be a murderous sociopath. In 2018, Lifetime remade that movie with McKenna Grace as the title character and Rob Lowe as her father. It was successful enough to give us a sequel following...
