Images of Bode's hometown "Edgewater" are of the actual town of Rio Dell, CA 200 miles north of Max Thieriot's hometown of Sebastopol, CA which came close to being destroyed by the tragic overnight massively destructive Tubbs wildfire during a windstorm in October 2017. The unprecedented Tubbs fire's progression was halted only by the heroic efforts of local mutual aid municipal and CalFire firefighters.
Actors were trained by Fire Protection personnel from Melrose Air Force Range (MAFR) in Melrose, New Mexico.
