As the family grapples with stepping into criminal activity, the tension also incentivizes complicated dynamics, from father and son to siblings and romantic entanglements.

The show relies on its cast to convey all the nuances at play between the Buckleys and the people around them. Thankfully, Williamson enlisted a collection of TV favorites to embody the show’s complicated subjects.

Here are the characters you need to know in “The Waterfront,” as well as the actors who play them and where you might have seen them before.

Fear Street: Prom Queen's Killer Actor Was Heavily Inspired By One Of The Most Iconic Slasher Villains: "He's So Crazy The Whole Time"
Image
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Fear Street: Prom Queen! The Fear Street franchise has become one of the most inventive horror sagas in recent years, and Fear Street: Prom Queenkeeps that tradition alive with a new, stylish story and chilling mystery. Based on R.L. Stine's teen horror novel, the Netflix film reimagines the high school slasher formula for a modern audience. Like the previous Fear Street trilogy, the film balances brutal scares with a sharp tone and clever plot twists. This time, the mystery is just as compelling as the kills, and a lot of that comes down to the performance and inspiration behind the killer.

Fina Strazza, who plays Tiffany, one of the killers in Fear Street: Prom Queen, recently revealed that her performance was heavily inspired by an iconic slasher villain from Scream. In an interview with ScreenRant, Strazza explained how Skeet Ulrich's portrayal...

Fear Street: Prom Queen Ending Explained: Did Nancy Kill Lori’s Father?
Image
A new chapter of the miserable history of Shadyside unfolds as Netflix’s beloved Fear Street franchise brings its latest entry, Prom Queen, four years after the release of the original movie trilogy. Adapted from R. L. Stine’s Prom Queen, the movie revolves around Shadyside High senior prom night of 1988, which becomes a hunting ground for a new masked serial killer. Unlike the previous entries, there is a noticeable distance the narrative maintains with the established mythos of Sarah Fier or Goode family shenanigans, featuring only some minor acknowledgements. This effort to treat the movie as its own thing would have worked if the characters were interesting enough instead of being limited to high school drama stereotypes. While earlier entries made conscious efforts to build emotional connections and made the leads appear like rounded characters with individuality, Prom Queen doesn’t bother with anything of that sort. As a result,...

‘Fear Street: Prom Queen’ Review – An Excruciating Return to Shadyside
Image
Ruthless yet inspired kills, expansive lore, and spirited personality made Leigh Janek’s Fear Street trilogy, based on the novels by R.L. Stine, the summer horror event of 2021. New standalone entry Fear Street: Prom Queen, nestled chronologically between Fear Street: 1978 and Fear Street: 1994, features none of that. Instead, the 1988-set slasher opts for shallow pastiche, bland kills, and a grating cast of characters. It makes for an excruciating return to the cursed town of Shadyside.

A quick recap reminding viewers of Shadyside’s penchant for cranking out masked serial killers kicks off Prom Queen before settling into introductions to the roster of prom queen candidates that’ll be targeted by the latest villain. Meek outcast Lori Granger (India Fowler) hopes to escape her family’s tarnished reputation by winning the coveted prom queen crown, but she has stiff competition with The Wolf Pack, the clique of mean girls led...

Fear Street: Prom Queen Review – The Hair is Big, But the Scares Are Not
Image
Fear Street: Prom Queen hits the dancefloor with a killer playlist and retro glam, but under all that shimmer lies a whole lot of shrug. While it nails the 80s look and hits the right notes in a few key moments, the film ultimately stumbles due to a weak plot, delivering a prom-night slasher that looks the part but never brings anything real to the party.

” a prom-night slasher that looks the part but never brings anything real to the party.”

Based on Rl Stine’s tweenage Fear Street book series, directed by Matt Palmer and co-written with Donald McLeary, Prom Queen transports us back to 1988 Shadyside High, where the hairspray is high and the stakes are higher… I guess. Prom season is underway, and the school’s resident clique of alpha girls is locked in a crown-clawing competition. Enter Lori Granger (India Fowler), an underdog outsider with undercooked prom...

'Fear Street: Prom Queen' Hits Rotten Tomatoes With a Tarnished Crown
Image
After four long years, Netflix's Fear Street series is finally back with Prom Queen, but does the new slasher measure up to the expectations set by the original trilogy? According to its Rotten Tomatoes score, not so much. Debuting with a "rotten" rating of just 50%, it appears that the Shadyside sequel is dividing critics down the middle, with some calling it "a slick ride of panic" and others "a massive nothingburger."

Starring an ensemble cast that includes the likes of India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, and David Iacono, Fear Street: Prom Queen adapts the 15th book in R.L. Stine's beloved series, and centers around Shadyside High's annual prom celebration, which sees the school's wolfpack of It Girls busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. When a gutsy outsider puts herself in the running, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class...

Fear Street: Prom Queen’s Mid-Credits Scene Connection With Sheriff Goode & His Family Curse
Image
For the longest time, every Shadysider has been asking the same question: what makes the locals snap and go on murder sprees? [Spoiler Alert] In Netflix’s Fear Street: Prom Queen, it was the Falconer family that snapped and started killing the girls competing for prom queen. Until the very end, it seemed like Nancy and Dan Falconer became murderers because they wanted their daughter Tiffany to win the competition. Because back in the day, when Nancy was in college, she too was obsessed with the prom queen competition, but the event was cancelled due to an unexpected death at Shadyside High, which could explain why she wanted her daughter to become the prom queen so she could live vicariously through her. But I can hear you; their excuse for murder sounds illogical in the real world, as no parents would shed blood to make their daughter win some insignificant competition, right?...

Fear Street: Prom Queen Review: A Bloody Disappointment
Image
In the summer of 2021, Netflix unleashed the ambitious "Fear Street" trilogy with charming results. Based (loosely) on the YA horror series by "Goosebumps" maestro R.L. Stine, the three films were slasher pastiches that appealed to those of us who grew up haunting the video store horror section for "Friday the 13th" sequels and the original "Scream." Under the guidance of director Leigh Janiak, who also co-wrote the films, the three "Fear Street" films — "Fear Street: 1994," "Fear Street: 1978," and "Fear Street: 1666" spun a sprawling, detailed mythology set in the fictional, cursed town of Shadyside, where bad things happen on a regular basis.

The three films were clever, fun, and gave us a winning cast of likable characters. More than that, they left room for more. The groundwork was laid for Netflix to return to Shadyside for additional tales of YA terror. And yet, it took the streaming service...

‘Fear Street: Prom Queen’ Review: Retro Netflix Slasher is Better Than ‘Prom Night,’ Worse Than ‘Prom Night II’
Image
We don’t talk enough about Leigh Janiak’s impressive “Fear Street” film trilogy, based the young adult horror novels by R.L. Stine. Four years ago Janiak unveiled, one week after another, three mostly-fantastic interconnected horror films inspired by different historical eras. The first was based on slasher movies from the 1990s. The second was based on slasher films from the 1980s. The third was based on folk horror… and also slasher movies from the 1990s. They all told a complete story with rich and fascinating characters. They were also scary as hell.

The time has come — finally! — to go back to “Fear Street,” and this time Netflix is doing something a little different. Instead of harkening back to, for example, slasher movies from the 1980s, “Fear Street: Prom Queen” harkens back to [checks notes] slasher movies from the 1980s. But wait! This time it’s prom night 1980s slasher movies. Last...

The Golden Globes Podcast Category Could Be a Brilliant Mess
Image
The Golden Globes just announced a best podcast category for its 2026 awards and this is either A) a sign of Hollywood’s waning cultural influence, B) a sign of podcasting’s rising popularity, C) a bit of both, or D) no big deal as this is still, you know, only the Golden Globes we’re talking about (kidding — we respect and adore the Globes and all other Pmc-owned events!).

In truth, adding a podcast category to the Globes is a savvy way to boost viewer interest and expand promotion of the telecast to a thriving medium. It follows ratings resurgence for the awards show in January, as well as acclaim for first-time host Nikki Glaser, who will return next year.

The new category, however, does raise some questions.

Podcasts are, by their nature, different animals than movies and TV shows, ranging in scope from a lone individual in a garage to powerful media enterprises.

The 3 Boy Meets World Episodes That Were Banned By Disney
Image
For many tweens and teens growing up in the mid-to-late-1990s, Friday nights meant a bucket of popcorn and sitting down in front of the TV for a night of ABC's "Tgif" programming lineup. Shows like "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," "Sister, Sister," and "Boy Meets World" catered to teens while still being family-friendly enough for primetime network TV, but occasionally they delved into topics that were a little more adult to actually have something to say to their teen audiences. "Boy Meets World" eventually ended up in syndication on The Disney Channel, along with several other "Tgif" favorites, but there were three episodes that originally aired on ABC that Disney Channel refused to air themselves.

Banned episodes are nothing new in the world of television — heck, "Frasier," "Family Guy," and "Friends" all have episodes that were banned from airing in one form or another — but the three that were prevented...

Rider Strong names another Boy Meets World episode that missed the mark
Image
Tonight, on a very special episode of Boy Meets World, Shawn gets crunk…Boy Meets World, like many sitcoms (especially of the Disney-backed Tgif variety), had its share of episodes that took on serious issues, hitting on everything from child abuse to teenage sex to cults. But one episode that still sticks with Rider Strong is “If You Can’t Be With the One You Love”, which focused on Shawn Hunter developing an alcohol dependency, something he doesn’t think the show handled well at all.

As Rider Strong remembered of the season five episode of Pod Meets World (the Boy Meets World rewatch podcast he co-hosts), Shawn was seeing “having a good time with Cory and doing handstands and peeing on cop cars and just, like, woohoo, fun loving. And then in that second half, it’s as if he’s a 45-year-old alcoholic who’s like, ‘I can’t stop,...

After its 1999 release, The Blair Witch Project became a cultural phenomenon, with many wondering if the film was real or fake, and started a trend of found footage films that dominated horror for many years. However, the leads of the film have recently revealed that while the film was incredibly successful, they didn't reap any of the rewards.

Whodathunk that these sworn enemies would end up getting intimate? Crazier hookups have happened in Port Charles, but this one is a doozy.

At the same time, Mathison is working on TV Movies for Great American Family, plus he hosts the game show Beat the Bridge. But despite all of his professional activities, the actor makes sure to prioritize his family.

General Hospital spoilers – Cameron Mathison Stars As Drew Cain

Prom Dates Review: Despite Some Good Jokes, Hulu's Teen Comedy Is Only Mildly Funny
Image
Julia Lester and Antonia Gentry have good chemistry, making the film entertaining despite some execution issues. The movie has a progressive outlook on girl teenhood, with engaging and humorous moments throughout. Prom Dates may not be as funny as expected, but it offers an entertaining story about friendship and love for prom season.

Prom is an age-old backdrop for teen comedies, with a new prom-centric movie releasing consistently around this time of year. The Kim O. Ngyuen-directed Prom Dates finds itself in the small yet growing subgenre of teen comedies, with girls taking the lead as they navigate the messy realities of relationships, sex and friendships. Prom Dates is if Booksmart and Blockers had a crass baby. While it succeeds at focusing on the teens more, the one problem the film has is, unlike Blockers, which splits its narrative with the parents, Prom Dates is not nearly as funny as it should be.

Netflix Horror Movie Fear Street: Prom Queen Reveals Ensemble Cast & Director
Image
Fear Street: Prom Queen is a standalone movie based on R.L. Stine's book, 'The Prom Queen,' and now boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Directed by Matt Palmer, the film will closely follow the story of Lizzie McVay at Shadyside High School during prom season. Unlike the Fear Street Trilogy, which featured elements from various Stine novels, Prom Queen's self-contained story won't be stretched into another series.

Back in November 2023, it was confirmed by then-chairman of Netflix Films, Scott Stuber (who has since moved on from the company), that a new Fear Street movie was in development based on the works of R.L. Stine. Two months later, it was revealed by Stine himself that the movie would be an adaptation of his novel, 'The Prom Queen.' Just a couple of months following that announcement, it's now been disclosed who will not only star in the new film,...

Five Nights At Freddy's Rotten Tomatoes Score Can't Compete With Weekend's Other New Horror Movie
Image
Despite its box office success, Five Nights at Freddy's has received negative reviews from critics with a low 29% score on Rotten Tomatoes. In contrast, Suitable Flesh, released on the same day, enjoys a much better critical reception with an 83% score and is Certified Fresh. While Five Nights at Freddy's breaks box office records, it cannot compare to the critical acclaim achieved by Suitable Flesh.

Five Nights at Freddy's is a success, but critically it can't compare to the weekend's other new horror movie, Suitable Flesh. Five Nights at Freddy's, which is based on the video game franchise of the same name, is a huge success at the box office, earning the highest-grossing opening weekend for any movie from Blumhouse Productions, among other records. However, it has been panned by critics, who have given it a dismal 29% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite the mind-boggling Five Nights at Freddy's box office total,...

Directed and choreographed by Tony winning Jerry Mitchell, Boop! features music by composer David Foster, lyrics by Susan Birkenhead and a book by The Prom‘s Bob Martin.

Although the Chicago staging is described by producers as a “pre-Broadway premiere,” neither a Broadway production timeline nor Broadway casting has been disclosed yet.

“Winning Time” doesn’t feature any of the real-life people that the series depicts, though some of the actors bear striking resemblances to their counterparts.

There were also newcomers who stepped onto the court as guest stars for the second season, included Joel Allen as Kurt Rambis, Jay Davis as Byron Scott, Quentin Shropshire as James Worthy, Matthew Barnes as Mitch Kupchak, Darryl Reynolds as Robert Parish, Andrew Stephens as Kevin McHale and Larry C. 10 Great That '70s Show Theories That Completely Change The Show
Image
That '70s Show is remembered as a hilarious and lighthearted sitcom, but some convincing fan theories completely change some aspects of the plot. The nostalgia-based series followed teenagers through the 1970s as they made mistakes and built friendships to comical results. It's not the kind of show that is full of mysteries that audiences are left to ponder (aside from where on earth Fez is from), so there is no need to put too much thought into the goings on of That '70s Show. Of course, this hasn't stopped fans, and the result is a few good theories that make the characters and circumstances of the series feel altogether different.

Eric and his friends inhabited the Forman basement for eight full seasons (though he and a few other characters exited That '70s Show before later returning), proving that the unique comedy and concept of the sitcom truly worked. Still, that...

Prom Night 2: Cast Comments, Possible Story & Everything We Know
Image
The 2008 slasher movie Prom Night is making the rounds on streaming services, prompting many to wonder if there's any Prom Night 2 news on the airwaves. While actress Brittany Snow didn't reach scream queen status until starring in Ti West's X, she's no stranger to the horror genre. Not counting the crime thriller On the Doll, Prom Night was Snow's first foray into horror, as she starred as senior high school student Donna Keppel. In the film, Donna is stalked by her former obsessive biology teacher Richard Fenton who murdered her parents three years prior.

As Donna and her friends prepare for their senior prom, Fenton makes a desperate attempt to get to her once again. While the movie received less-than-favorable reviews upon its release (via Rotten Tomatoes), that hasn't stopped audiences from scouring the net for Prom Night 2 news as many are hopeful to see Brittany Snow play Donna once again.

Hellraiser (2022) – Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
The Hellraiser (2022) episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Adam Walton, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

Seemingly all the major slashers have had their remakes from Freddy Krueger to Leatherface to Jason Voorhees to Harry Warden, even Black Christmas and Prom Night have had remakes. For years, the world of horror had been working on bringing a remake of Hellraiser to the screen, one that fans would love, one that would be more extreme than the original, something even Clive Barker had a go at. Somehow, all the remakes seemed to have false starts by getting announced and then disappearing. Then, the Hulu reboot happened, completely different from the original, yet in the same spirit as the novella.

As people were quick to point out, the story of the new...

Nicholas Braun Was Great as an Awkward Oddball Long Before ‘Succession’
Image
The fourth and final season of the massive HBO hit show Succession is off and running, and the Roy children are back to jockey for their positions in the quest to replace the all-mighty patriarch Logan (Brian Cox) as the head honcho at Waystar Royco. And that means that the lovably awkward Nicholas Braun is going to return to making people feel extremely awkward as the stuttering and stammering Cousin Greg Hirsch who is perpetually struggling to find his place within the sphere of the influential and powerful media family. And it's safe to assume that there will be some more of the top-notch dialogue between him and fellow Roy outsider Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen) that will provide some comic relief and potentially some unexpected twists involving one or both of their characters. Braun's naïveté and vulnerability are a trademark of the character he has so deftly crafted over the show's run,...

Bill Damaschke in Final Talks to Head Warner Animation Group (Exclusive)
Image
A new era for Warner Bros. animation is about to begin.

Veteran animation executive Bill Damaschke, who rose to lead DreamWorks Animation before its sale to NBCUniversal, is in final talks to take over as head of Warner Animation Group, the beleaguered animation arm of Warner Bros. Pictures..

The company has been leaderless since the exit of executive vp Allison Abbate, who departed in the summer of 2022 amid the Warners takeover by Discovery and the shake-up that followed. That included the shelving of Scoob!: Holiday Haunt, a completed feature that was co-written and produced by Abbate’s husband, Tony Cervone.

The executive is expected to report to Warners film bosses Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy. It is unclear what title he will hold.

Damaschke spent 20 years at DreamWorks Animation, joining it from startup level in 1995 and rising to COO. He oversaw productions such as Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon...

BBC Director-General Tim Davie Sets Out ‘Digital First’ Strategy, Plans 250 Million a Year Cuts
Image
BBC Director-General Tim Davie has revealed plans for a “digital first” BBC as the broadcaster celebrates its hundredth year as well as revealing at hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of cutbacks.

Davie said he plans to cut £200 million (250 million) from the budget due to the government’s decision to freeze the license fee, which funds the BBC. The freeze will create a £285m annual funding gap by 2027/28.

Of the £200 million, Davie said £50 million “is already baked into our current budgets” but the rest will have to be delivered by “stopping things and running the organisation better where we can.”

Part of that involves cutting headcount, Variety understands, which has prompted a response from broadcasting union Bectu, a number of whose members work within the BBC.

“We recognise the need for organisations to change and adapt and welcome the BBC’s commitment to step up to the challenges of a...
