John Cena Netflix project Little Brother finds its director
Image
Before we get too far into this, know this article does not only deal with a future John Cena vehicle, but one that also involves the excellent Eric André. You might know André from his volume of voice work, including Netflix's Disenchantment, or his weird but entertaining self-titled series. Or maybe playing Lyle Lissons on season two of Righteous Gemstones.

In other words, Little Brother, a new film in production at Netflix, will be watchable beyond Cena. The film is a comedy, and Cena has a good sense of humor and should be a good fit, but how he plays off of André should be gold.

This is especially true as the film now has a director who should be excellent for the movie. Matt Spicer has been named to fill that position and has a history of creating gems from lower-budget projects. If you haven't seen his work,...

Varun Dhawan once faced the ire of his father, David Dhawan, when he called Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, ‘cooler’ than Dhawan’s Bade Miya Chhote Miyan. Taylor Sheridan is arguably the greatest modern storyteller when it comes to Westerns, who breathed new life into the genre on both big and small screens over the last decade. Baldur's Gate 3 Player's Outrageous Build Creates Impossibly Fast Tav
Image
Create a lightning-fast Tav in BG3 by carefully building a character with additional movement speed. Reddit user l_arlecchino achieved a Tav with a staggering movement speed of 2800 ft per round, showing impressive game knowledge. Use specific abilities, feats, equipment, and potions to achieve incredibly high movement speeds in Baldur's Gate 3, pushing the game's limits.

While a talented Baldur's Gate 3 player may be able to manipulate the game's various systems to create an overpowered character, it's rare to see a Tav with a movement speed greater than most sports cars. In the world of Dungeons & Dragons, a character's movement speed determines how far they can move in a single turn and while the average amount is 30ft per round, it's entirely possible to bring that stat up with some careful character building. The easiest method is to simply play as a Monk, the class that gains additional movement speed every few levels.

This Wild Horror Western Features One of Guy Pearce's Best Performances
Image
Guy Pearce has been one of Hollywood’s most prominent and versatile character actors for decades. Before finding big-screen success, he started off on the long-running Australian soap opera Neighbours, where he played Mike Young from 1986-1989 in over 450 episodes (and even returned for the finale over 30 years later). The actor had been able to get into a few movies in the early '90s, but none made any legitimate impact until The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, a road trip dramedy that follows two drag performers (Pearce and fellow Australian actor Huge Weaving) and a transgender woman (the iconic Terrance Stamp) as they travel across the desert while on tour. The film was a surprise hit when it arrived in festivals like Cannes in 1994 with audiences and critics alike, giving Pearce plenty of attention and opportunities, including landing the role of Ed Exley in L.A. Confidential opposite Russell Crowe.

10 Reasons MCU Fans Can Still Be Thankful In 2023
Image
Despite some disappointments in 2023, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still going strong and has introduced many exciting concepts and characters. What If...? season 2 is yet to release, but will be the perfect ending to Marvel Studios' 2023 slate, which featured popular projects such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Loki season 2, and The Marvels. Marvel Studios is focusing more on quality over quantity, slowing down production to ensure stronger projects in the future. Exciting new superhero teams, such as the Young Avengers, are also being set up for future storylines.

There are still many reasons for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be grateful for Marvel Studios' franchise in 2023, despite some disappointments along the way. The MCU kicked off with 2008's Iron Man, and has since produced over forty projects across film, TV, and animation, spanning a decade-and-a-half, with Marvel Studios creating the most expansive, successful, and complex live-action superhero franchise.

The Biggest Bridgerton Season 3 Book Changes Confirmed So Far (& Why They're A Good Thing)
Image
Warning! Spoilers about the Bridgerton books ahead.

Bridgerton season 3 will deviate heavily from the books, with changes already introduced in previous seasons allowing for new and fresh storylines. Cast exits, such as Phoebe Dynevor's absence as Daphne, contribute to the differences between the adaptation and Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, allowing for a focus on other characters. The structure of the TV show, with multiple storylines and genres, enriches the story and keeps viewers engaged, even if it means the timing and roles of certain characters differ from the books.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Netflix’s Bridgerton included multiple original stories and many changes from Julia Quinn’s novels, but Bridgerton season 3’s story can make the upcoming season the most divergent from the books to date. Although Quinn's books usually follow the story of one Bridgerton sibling's quest to find true love, the show has deviated away from this structure in...

Blade Runner TV Show Filming Could Be Delayed By One Year
Image
Filming for the upcoming Blade Runner television series could be delayed by an entire year. In 1982, director Ridley Scott used Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? as the basis for his science-fiction noir Blade Runner. Although the film initially received mixed reviews from critics and bombed at the box office, Blade Runner gained popularity on home release and has since become a revered cult classic. As a result, the film spawned a direct sequel Blade Runner 2049, starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling, an animated television series titled Blade Runner: Black Lotus, and an upcoming sequel show, Blade Runner 2099, set for Prime Video.

Per Deadline, Scott's upcoming Blade Runner sequel show could be delayed by a year. The BBC recently reported production on the series was set to begin in Northern Ireland but has since been put on hold until spring 2024. Northern Ireland Screen...

Image
Exclusive: Tribeca and Comedy Dynamics are reteaming for a slate of 10 stand-up comedy specials to be filmed at the Tribeca Film Festival, which runs June 9-20 in New York City.

The two entities partnered up in early 2020 to produce original stand-up comedy specials that were slated to be filmed at the annual fest. Tribeca x Comedy Dynamics Drive-In featured hourlong comedy sets from Ester Steinberg, Dave Helem, Erica Rhodes and Daniel Webb — the first set of drive-in comedy specials filmed in the midst of the pandemic.

Hasn't The Good Doctor's Claire Suffered Just About Enough?
Image
A lot has happened to The Good Doctor‘s Claire Browne in the three-and-a-half seasons since we first met the surgical resident. She reconnected with her mentally ill mother Breeze, then lost her in a drunk-driving accident. Then she fell in love with her boss, Dr. Neil Melendez, who died of internal injuries suffered in a building collapse.

Suffice it to say, Dr. Browne has been through it, and she deserves to be happy. And even though reconnecting with her estranged father is a promising first step, his return comes with a pretty big asterisk.

TVLine Items: Zoey's Adds Shadows Star, Pandora Promotion and More
Image
Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist appears to have found Max’s workplace replacement: Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) will recur during Season 2 of NBC’s musical dramedy as George, a new programmer at Sprq Point.

In the Season 1 finale, Max announced that he was moving on from Sprq Point to pursue other opportunities, so could George — who makes his debut in the Season 2 premiere, airing in 2021 — be filling Max’s spot on Zoey’s team? It sure would line up with the fact that George is “constantly hungering for Zoey’s (and his fellow coders’) approval,” per the official character description.

BAFTA TV Awards: Channel 4 Has Huge Night After Wins For ‘Stath Lets Flats’ & ‘The End Of The F***ing World’
Image
Channel 4 enjoyed a huge night at the BAFTA TV Awards on Friday, with the British broadcaster scooping six gongs and springing shocks in big-ticket categories.

By comparison, Channel 4 won only two prizes at last year’s ceremony, while it didn’t clinch a single award for an original show in 2018. This year, there were two awards each for Stath Lets Flats and The End Of The F***ing World.

The former, which will premiere on HBO Max in the U.S., beat Fleabag to best comedy. Stath Lets Flats creator and star Jamie Demetriou (who was a regular in Fleabag) also won best male performance in a comedy.

The End Of The F***ing World won best drama series, beating The Crown, and Naomi Ackie was named best supporting actress for her role as Bonnie in the Netflix co-production.

Channel 4’s other wins included The Lateish Show With Mo Gilligan for...

Created, written and executive produced by Chuck MacLean (Boston Strangler) and based on an original idea by Ben Affleck, City on a Hill is set in early 1990s Boston when the city was rife with violent criminals emboldened by local law enforcement agencies in which corruption and racism was the norm, until it suddenly all changed. TV Ratings: 35-Day Numbers Show Huge Gains as ABC Stops Reporting Overnight Results
More than a month and a half into the 2019-20 TV season, ratings are still rolling in for shows that debuted in week one. And, not surprisingly, the numbers look a lot better than the underwhelming initial returns.

ABC on Monday released a batch of 35-day, multiplatform numbers for premiere week (along with a note that it will no longer share notes on same-day ratings going forward, other than for live events), and they show that a number of the network's premieres tripled or even quadrupled their initial performance. That jibes with figures from other networks: NBC has reported ...
