Very few historical dramas succeed in making the past feel immediate and urgent, but The Waking of a Nation does exactly that. From the very first episode, the show immerses you in the political and social climate of 1919. The tension is real. The fear in the air, the rising anger among the people, the realization that change is coming, but at a terrible cost.
