Local Man Accused Of Murdering Wife
The Point Verde County Police have released more details surrounding the brutal murder of local resident Cheryl Walker. The victim was found stabbed to death in her home on the night of June 24. Her husband, David Walker, was first on the scene to discover the body. He called 911 and performed CPR until the paramedics arrived 14 minutes later.
Cheryl was 32 years old and the daughter of prominent real estate developer Roy Deanza. The Deanza family could not be reached for comment.
Police have arrested David Walker for first degree murder. He was escorted from his home on the afternoon of June 25th and arraigned the following day. California State Judge R. Mintuk has confined Mr. Walker to house arrest pending trial. David Walker has pleaded not guilty and has been appointed a public defender.
Trial is set to begin Monday July 10th. Press will not be given access to the proceedings.
