Indian Version of "Casual " series

It just the indian version of "casual" another series. Even the episodes and storyline are the same. Pratik Babbar could have done a better job.

Otherwise a one time binge.

An easy watch!

Hiccups and hookups is a breezy watch that is both light hearted and heart warming. Lara Mahesh Bhupathi and Prateik Babbar are a delight to watch as the siblings who have each other's back. Director Kunal Kohli returns to form with this one. The show has some really endearing characters and is a refreshing watch amongst the crowd full of crime dramas and murder mysteries. You can binge watch this family drama on a lazy evening.

A Fun, Breezy Take on Modern-Day Relationship Dynamics With A Light Hearted Fam-Jam !!!

A brother-sister duo living together in a posh Bengaluru neighborhood are constantly hustling in personal and professional life, but without much headway. Will they get lucky in their love life, work life and/or sex life ?

39-year-old Vasudha (Lara Dutta) is a single mother, who moves in with her brother Akhil (Pratiek Babbar) in Bengaluru's Jayanagar with her teenage daughter Kay (Shinnova). She left her husband after he was cheating on her and now she's looking to connect with someone, physically and mentally, on a dating app called Kechup that's developed by Akhil, who's also hunting for dates on the same app. As a teenager, Kay is confused with all the choices of young and old men around her.

It's an exciting premise to throw in three people in very different circumstances and phases of their lives, looking for connections. Set in an uber-cool and urbane environment, the show is relatable for today's youth and adults in mid-age, living a thriving life in metro cities where hookups are easy, but meaningful relationships are often a rarity. All the same, it might seem like the characters are dealing with first world problems but the show's inherent fabric is very western and this may alienate the massy audience. What works largely in this Kunal Kohli directorial is the narrative that is light and breezy. It deals with various facets of human relationship in a casual and matter-of-fact way, minus the melodrama.

In performances, it's a Lara Dutta show all the way, as she plays Vasu's desires and dilemnas with ease. Many a women can identify with her character of an independent single mom, who is trying hard to balance her own desires with her career and other relationships. Pratiek Babbar is back in good shape and makes an honest attempt to play a slacking middle-age man Akhil. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra plays the over-the-top and annoying boss of Vasu. His performance feels orchestrated and much like the overall execution of the show, it could have been funnier and more entertaining.

On the whole, 'Hiccups and Hookups' is a colorful and lighthearted family drama that tackles various aspects of modern-day relationship dynamics and everything around it.

Crigeworthy from every single angle!!!

I wish I had not seen the one episode that I did!!! 2 mins into it, I knew I was going to regret this and yet, I thought I should not be too quick to judge and give it a chance... Oh my God!!! The guy who directed this should be never allowed to set his foot inside a studio... I have never seen her act before, but in this one Lara Dutta was horrible... Prateek Babbar was a disaster and he is not a bad actor... I have seen some of his other work and they were quite ok, but here, he was actually cringeworthy... The acting, the dialogues, the jokes attempted, the direction every single thing was telling, "puuuuuukkkkkkeeeee".

Super Cringe

The whole set up is so fake and designed to be cool it hurt the brains. The sex chatter borderlines unreal and creepy even. The one authentic thing is the use of "macha" - 10/10 for that.

It's actually BAD

Overacting..Desperation.. just bad.. Didn't understood the plot.. Maybe it's for a completely different kind of audience which doesn't reside in India.. Better..stay away..

Cringe!!! Not for the Indian audience.

This show is so shitty, I guess the guy who made this thinks this is America, not India. They've shown an orgy, a girl who is in an open relationship and a mother-daughter duo that desperately wants to sleep with the same guy. Besides, everyone tries to act so cool, they come across as desperate wannabes. Watch this only if you like getting a headache. That's the only thing you'll get after watching this pathetic sex comedy.

Is this acceptable

Sameer Lodaya

The series is surely not acceptable to Indian viewers

The story goes in a way that Lara is planning for a divorce as she saw her husband sleeping with another woman and now she is planning to sleep with all the men she comes across..Pratik is Lara's brother and both brother and sister discusses about how was their experience after sleeping with strangers..now there is Lara's daughter who sleeps with her friend and wants to sleep with her teacher but she found out that her mom is sleeping with him lastly lara gets hook up with pratiks girlfriend

So in this series the main agenda is where and with whom to sleep and in the end they show a group make out and there are no such hot scenes which you hunt for

Kunal kholi is this really you who has directed this..god only knows how you can direct such a bold series without any strong content behind it

It's up to guys whether you accept this type.

Decent binge but nothing great

The show started off great. It was interesting and fresh. It was also nice to see Lara Dutta back on screen. I also really enjoyed Prateik's character, and the brother sister relationship Lara and Prateik had. That all being said, by the 5th episode the show got a little boring, and I simply just wanted to be done. I rushed through the remaining episodes, and was not impressed by the end. It could have finished off way better.

Meh

Starts off with so much promise but fizzles out quickly. Performances are very average, except maybe Lara Dutta who's done a better job than the others. The whole show seems very superficial and it's trying too hard; we've seen this kind of story being done by the west, but at least those shows contain some substance. Episodes also feel a bit inconsistent and abrupt.

COPIED from "Casual" - American series

"Casual" done Indian-style -- badly

This is the American series "Casual" done for India. The script for the first episode is nearly identical The problem is that while "Casual" is no masterpiece, this show is a catastrophe. Nobody can act. The dialog is half-and-half English and (I'm guessing) Hindi and even with subtitles, I found it hard to follow. If I hadn't just watched the "same" episode on "Casual" within the last month, I might have been willing to see if it got better. As it was, I'd had enough by halfway through.

horrible!

Extremely bad. Everything about it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WATCHING THIS.

If I could rate "Hiccups and Hookups" any lower than one star, I would. This sitcom, a supposed parody of American suburbia, is so unfunny, so trite, and so utterly devoid of originality that it actually gave me a stomachache.

Do yourself a favor and stick your head in sand instead. At least that practice might teach you something. With "Hiccups and Hookups" you are basically looking at animals waiting to sleep with anyone or anything without any principals. This is the sitcom equivalent of stale eggnog - best left untouched, no matter how desperate you are for holiday cheer.
