Stick TV Review: Owen Wilson led golf series is a fun sports story
Image
Plot: Pryce Cahill is an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was prematurely derailed 20 years ago. After the collapse of his marriage and getting fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, Pryce hedges his bets and future entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom named Santi. This heartfelt, feel-good comedy is about a found family and their relationships set within the world of golf as it has never been shown before.

Review: The last time Owen Wilson played a veteran athlete training the next generation superstar in his sport was in 2017’s Cars 3. At 56, Wilson has played all sorts of characters across genres while seemingly never aging, but has never starred in a live-action sports story. With Stick, Wilson gives us one of the best performances of his career in a feel-good story about golf, family, friendship, and second chances. Golf is a great sport to feature on screen,...

Gerard Butler’s Exhilarating Action Film Is Better Than Critics Say

Quick Links'Machine Gun Preacher' Is a Remarkable Story That Never Got Enough Screen Time'Machine Gun Preacher' Shines a Light on a HeroOther Underrated Elements in 'Machine Gun Preacher'They Were Both Flawed People But Stronger for It

Although he was around for some time and had already achieved minor credits in film alongside the likes of Christian Bale and Angelina Jolie, it would take the world a while before we first began taking serious notice of Gerard Butler. That breakthrough wasn't until we saw him in Zack Snyder's 300, and it suddenly became clear just how much of an aura he had as a leading man. Now a veteran of the big screen, Butler has become renowned as one of the most exciting action stars around today.

His range has also seen him play other roles admirably, too. Among others, like romantic comedies and epic disaster flicks, he's proven to be a terrific all-round star.

The Everyman Appeal of Gerard Butler
Image
Why do we like Gerard Butler? As of the publishing of this piece, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is performing as expected, looking to become yet another reliable, mid-budgeted programmer hit for the movie star. It’ll round out nicely in theaters, then do well with VOD and home sales. This kind of success is exceedingly rare these days; even Liam Neeson actioners underperform after years of semi-reliability. So: what is it about Butler?

There is a scene somewhere in the middle of Pantera in which “Big Nick” O’Brien (Butler) and Donnie Wilson (O’Shea Jackson) are sitting outside a bar in the south of France, sipping beers on the come down from a night of hard-partying. Los Angeles cop Big Nick has both “gone gangster” and gone international, turning to a life of crime and following Donnie into a heist-laden world of intrigue. The two frenemies proceed to...

This Gerard Butler Revenge Thriller Was Based on a Controversial True Story
Image
Although he has occasionally dabbled in the romantic comedy and family drama genres, Gerard Butler is most closely associated with the many action films that he has appeared in. Given Butler’s impressive physique, undeniable charisma, and ability to transform into morally ambiguous characters, it is no surprise that he has often been drawn to action cinema. While there are some action stars like Dwayne Johnson or Vin Diesel who refuse to take chances, Butler has ensured that there is a diversity to the action films that he appears in; between a gritty heist thriller like Den of Thieves, a comic book epic like 300, and a thrilling disaster film like Greenland, he has managed to make each of his performances unique. Butler gave one of his most underrated performances as a real vigilante in the biographical revenge thriller Machine Gun Preacher, which became the subject of legitimate controversy based on the film’s inspiration.

Gerard Butler's $80M Action Thriller Becomes Streaming Hit
Image
Gerard Butler has long been a staple of the action genre, and it seems as if he's only leaned harder into this area of his career over the last decade or so. After becoming a big name due to movies like Reign of Fire (2002) and 300 (2006), Butler appeared in a handful of exciting action flicks, including RocknRolla (2008), Gamer (2009), and Machine Gun Preacher (2011). It was in 2013, however, that Butler's action hero persona really evolved.

In 2013, Butler starred in Olympus Has Fallen, which could be seen as the start of a new phase of his career. In addition to starring in two sequels to this White House action movie, including London Has Fallen (2016) and Angel Has Fallen (2019), Butler appeared in a mix of action-forward movies that varied quite significantly in quality, including Geostorm (2017), Hunter Killer (2018), Greenland (2020), Copshop (2021), and Plane (2023). There was one 2018 title, however, that really struck a chord with audiences.

Megan Fox Deletes Her Instagram Account Amid Machine Gun Kelly Split Speculation
Image
It looks like fans will not be reading a Valentine’s Day social media tribute from Megan Fox to Machine Gun Kelly this year.

That’s because the actress’ Instagram account has seemingly been deleted. Fox’s wiped Instagram presence comes amid chatter from the weekend that she and the musician have split. What sparked the rumours? Her own Instagram activity. On Saturday, Fox used some eyebrow-raising lyrics from Beyoncé’s “Pray You Catch Me” to caption her post: “You can taste the dishonesty/ it’s all over your breath.”

Fans noticed she was also not following her fiancé’s account and had deleted all traces of him from her profile. Et has reached out to Fox and Mgk’s reps for comment.

Meanwhile, the two made their most recent joint public appearance mere days ago when they stepped out at the 2023 Grammys, where the singer was a first-time nominee.

Also included in the post is video of an envelope that’s been set on fire, burning in a fire pit.

Hulu New Releases: December 2022
Image
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And with its list of new releases for December 2022, Hulu is planning accordingly.

Compared to its rival streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, and HBO Max, Hulu is a bit more holiday forward in the final month of 2022. Sure, all the streaming services are bringing some Christmas content to the table, but Hulu is the only one to plant its flag in a special called It’s a Wonderful Binge. This comedic take on a psychedelic Purge-like Christmas is set to premiere on Dec. 8.

Elsewhere on Hulu this month, subscribers can look forward to the release of FX’s Kindred (Dec. 13). Based on a thrilling novel of the same name, this series follows a woman being violently yanked back and forth in time. In what’s increasingly become a tradition, Canadian comedy Letterkenny will premiere a new season the day after Christmas.

Hulu is going all-in on their Christmas content with a few holiday features, including the debut of their original movie “It’s a Wonderful Binge.” But if you’re looking for a new television series to keep you busy till Christmas it’s all about the adaptation of Octavia Butler’s “Kindred,” the first television translation of any of Butler’s acclaimed literary works, coming to FX on Hulu this month.

Based on Butler’s 1979 novel, “Kindred” focuses on Dana James, a young Black aspiring writer living in Los Angeles with her husband Kevin Franklin. While in the process of moving, Dana abruptly finds herself tossed between the modern day and 1815 Maryland during the Antebellum period of the South. During her journeys to the past, she struggles to survive while trapped at...

The Way Tommy Lee and Brittany Furlan Met Is Totally Bizarre, but Also Kinda Cute?
Image
It's a tale as old as time: heavy-metal drummer follows viral social media sensation, arranges to meet her in real life, and falls in love. Ok, maybe not, but that's the modern love story of 59-year-old Mötley Crüe cofounder Tommy Lee and 35-year-old former Vine star Brittany Furlan, who tied the knot on Valentine's Day in 2019, exactly one year after they got engaged.

This is the drummer's fourth marriage, but it's the first for Furlan, as well as her first fulfilling relationship. As she said in the 2018 Netflix documentary "The American Meme," "I met someone who I can trust because I didn't trust anybody that I've dated before. I'd say Tommy is my first true love and I am finally safe and happy." Despite their unconventional start, you have to admit that's pretty sweet.

The pair started dating in June 2017, but according to Lee, he followed the social media queen...

The film follows Mgk's movie-star character London as he receives a breakup text from his girlfriend, April (Becky G), on the same day he's scheduled to have the most important meeting of his career.

Megan Fox Elaborates on Drinking Machine Gun Kelly's Blood: "It's Just a Few Drops"
Image
Megan Fox is opening up about her relationship with Machine Gun Kelly. But first, she wants to get one thing out of the way: yes, they occasionally drink each other's blood. In a candid interview for the April 2022 issue of Glamour, the actor spoke about her career, family, and whirlwind romance, elaborating on the headline-making detail she slipped into her engagement announcement.

Kelly proposed to Fox in January with a magnetic two-stone engagement ring after a year and a half of dating. "Just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes," Fox wrote at the time, adding, "And then we drank each other's blood." When asked to clarify, Fox confirmed they did drink each other's blood, although not the "goblets" people might imagine. "It's just a few drops," she said. "But yes, we do consume each other's blood on occasion for ritual purposes only.

Machine Gun Kelly isn't the only one Megan Fox is crediting with transforming her life over the past year.   On April 10, the 35-year-old actress, alongside her fiancé, attended the 2022 Daily Front Row Fashion Awards in Los Angeles. There, she presented the Stylist Curator Award to Maeve Reilly, who as Megan explained, has helped her "to push beyond what I thought I could do and what was possible" as her personal stylist. As the Jennifer's Body star noted, Megan was introduced to Maeve courtesy of her soon-to-be hubby, Mgk.   "Maeve came to me at a point in my life where I had spent a long time in a winter where I had been in a tight rut," she told the crowd at...

What We Know About Megan Fox and Mgk's Upcoming Wedding
Image
Image Source: Getty / Phillip Faraone

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly are ready to say "I do." The couple first met in 2020 on the set of the movie "Midnight in the Switchgrass," and it was practically love at first sight for Fox.

"I was in a room with him and said hello to him and looked into his eyes . . . I knew right away that he was what I call a twin flame," Fox said in July 2020. "Instead of a soulmate, a twin flame is actually where a soul has ascended into a high enough level that it can be split into two different bodies at the same time. So we're actually two halves of the same soul, I think. And I said that to him almost immediately, because I felt it right away, so I think it was the second day, I asked him to come into my trailer for lunch,...

Machine Gun Kelly revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that a recent ayahuasca trip with fiancee Megan Fox in Costa Rica was “one of the most important things that happened to me in my life.”

Host Jimmy Kimmel asked Kelly about the experience, noting that Fox had previously described it as “hell” during a previous appearance on the late-night show. Kelly recalled being given an extra dose of the drug on the first night of the ceremony.

Jackass Forever – Review
Image
Hmmm, is 2022 turning out to be a twenty-year anniversary celebration for several beloved film franchises? Could be. After all. the year started a tad early for the still-formidable box-office juggernaut, Spider-man: No Way Home, which arrived with two weeks left of the previous year, and about six months ahead of that first web-head feature’s 20th this May. And just last weekend Disney+ hosted the latest animated outing, The Ice Age Adventures Of Buck Wild, the sixth in the series that started two months before Spidey. Now, these flicks are pretty “family-friendly”.Not one entry in this series could ever be trimmed to meet anything but an “R” rating (many would say a “hard R”). So, heed that “black-screened-backed disclaimer/warning” for the sake of yourself and your loved ones (and anybody nearby) because those deranged daredevil doofuses as back in Jackass Forever.

Now, this is where I’d normally...

Inside Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly's Achingly Beautiful Romance
Megan Fox at an event for Jennifer's Body (2009)
Some people just know when they've found their person.  They tell stories of returning home from first dates only to call up a parent or best friend, excitedly announcing that this is it: They've met their future spouse. Others require years of joint holidays and family gatherings and shared bathroom space to be absolutely certain they have their match.  In Megan Fox's case, though, it was love at first mention.  Chatting with Midnight in the Switchgrass director Randall Emmett on his and then-fiancée Lala Kent's podcast in July 2020, she recalled inquiring who was going to fill the empty chair on set. "And he was like, 'Oh, we just got Machine Gun...

15 Hardest Nes Boss Fights
Image
We’ve had a lot of fun in recent months looking at the history of some of the hardest games ever made, but it’s hard to talk about the most difficult games of all time without giving a little love to the boss fights that often make them as challenging as they are.

So far as that goes, there are few consoles in gaming history that can match the Nes’ legendary lineup of difficult bosses that taught many of us the simple facts about the cruelty of life. Many of the best bosses of the Nes era were screen-sized monstrosities that were designed to make us wonder why the developers hated us so much.

While no Nes boss will ever be harder than whichever one haunted your childhood, these are the 15 Nes boss fights that will break you no matter which games you grew up with.

15. The Great Puma...

Shinji Somai’s Salor Suit And Machine Gun and Kinji Fukasaku’s Battle Royale On Uhd Standard Edition In November From Arrow Video

Salor Suit and Machine Gun

A perky high-schooler takes on the mob in “Sailor Suit and Machine Gun”, a one-of-a-kind genre-bender that riffs on the yakuza film, coming-of-age drama and ‘idol movie’, inventively adapted from Jiro Akagawa’s popular novel by director Shinji Somai, a massively influential figure in Japanese cinema whose work has been little seen outside his homeland.

Hoshi Izumi is a young innocent forced to grow up quickly when her father dies and she finds herself next in line as the boss of a moribund yakuza clan. Wrenched from the security of her classroom and thrust into the heart of the criminal underworld, she must come to terms with the fact that her actions hold the key to the life or death of the men under her command as they come under fire from rival gangs.

Presented in both its Original Theatrical and longer Complete versions, and...

Midnight in the Switchgrass Review: Megan Fox Navigates a Generic Crime Drama
I think Bruce Willis’ agent needs a raise—they are going above and beyond to make sure their client gets A-list billing no matter what project he takes. I’d estimate the actor has about five total minutes of screen-time in Midnight in the Switchgrass, a majority of which is his FBI agent (Karl Helter) being a tired and soon-to-be-retired mother hen for his much younger and more driven partner (Megan Fox’s Rebecca Lombardo). It’s a cushy gig that probably put a few bucks in his pocket while somehow also earning him second-billing and foreground placement on the poster despite the real lead (Emile Hirsch’s state cop Byron Crawford) barely receiving his name at the top. Temper your expectations, Willis fans. It’s a glorified cameo.

What about the film, though? Written by Alan Horsnail and helmed by long-time producer and first-time director Randall Emmett, its story...

HBO Max New Releases: March 2021
Image
It’s happening. It’s finally happening. What was once a particularly pervasive and aggressive Internet meme is now a reality. HBO Max’s list of new releases for March 2021 is highlighted by none other than the mythical Snyder cut.

The entity now known as Zach Snyder’s Justice League will premiere on March 18. While it was originally planned to be a four-part miniseries, this recut version of 2017’s ill-fated Justice League will in fact be a four-hour movie. But perhaps even four hours won’t be enough for fans who have been waiting years for just such an event.

Machine Gun Kelly Proves Chivalry Isn't Dead as He Carries Megan Fox Into Crowded Studio
Gerard Butler in Machine Gun (2011)
It's nothing less than true romance between Machine Gun Kelly and girlfriend Megan Fox. The "Bloody Valentine" singer and Fox looked extra cozy heading to NBC Studios for a taping of Saturday Night Live in New York City, during which Kelly picked up the smiling Jennifer's Body star and carried her down the street. The artist, whose real name is Colson Baker, sparked engagement rumors with the New Girl alum this week when Fox—who is in the midst of a divorce from her ex-husband and father of her three children Brian Austin Green—was spotted rocking a sparkling diamond ring. However, Fox shut down the speculation on her...

‘SNL’ Offers ‘The Dionne Warwick Show’ & Renews ‘Holiday Baking Championship’ Skit
Image
Dionne Warwick went viral this week after she logged on to Twitter with tweets about Chance The Rapper and Taylor Swift and a burgeoning beef with Wendy Williams.

On her birthday, Saturday Night Live handed Warwick her own show in a sketch.

Ego Nwodim played the Walk On By singer on The Dionne Warwick Show, where she ‘interviewed’ the likes of Harry Styles, played by Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish (or William Eyelash), played by Melissa Villasenor, Timothée Chalamet, played by Chloe Fineman and Machine Gun Kelly, played by Pete Davidson.

“Maybe you know me from my music or maybe you heard that I just discovered Twitter,” said Nwodim’s Warwick.

Chalamet’s Styles explained that he thinks his recent hit Watermelon Sugar was just about summer but “some people think it’s about oral sex”. “That’s nasty,” replied Warwick. “No no, on a woman,” said Styles.

“Why is Wendy...

Megan Fox at an event for Jennifer's Body (2009)
With Megan Fox by his side, Machine Gun Kelly is finding clarity. On the heels of a hit new album and in the midst of a blossoming romance, the 30-year-old is having a special year—and one of self-improvement. As he shared in a recent chat with Dave Franco for Interview, Kelly, born Richard Colson Baker, has recently started therapy and is focusing on happiness instead of rebellion. "I came from a father who was extremely religious and extremely strict, and wouldn't even let me hold my pen the way I wanted to hold my pen," the rapper, who shares 12-year-old Casie with ex Emma Cannon, explained. "That made me rebel completely, and cut off communication completely,...

Image
Ford v Ferrari co-writer Jason Keller will make his directorial debut helming the feature film La Sombra (The Shadow), from an original screenplay by Keller to be financed by Sherborne Media Finance and Paprika Financing.

In the project, Puerto Rico becomes a battleground as one man takes on a powerful local gang after his brother is kidnapped. A spring 2021 production in Puerto Rico is currently planned with casting underway.

Pimienta Film Company’s Luillo Ruiz (Driven), and Sherborne Media Finance’s Gary Raskin (Midway) and Alastair Burlingham (Greenland) are producing with Robbie Brenner (Dallas Buyers Club).

Says Raskin, “La Sombra is a powerful, emotionally resonate story about family set within a thrilling action movie. When I first read it, I loved it, and when Jason walked me through his ideas for how he would direct the movie I couldn’t say yes fast enough. We’re very excited about this...
