Ayo Edebiri’s Opus Gets A Second Wind, Lands In Top 3 On HBO Max ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Opus did not make much noise when it first hit theaters. The A24 psychological drama, released in March, followed a writer played by Ayo Edebiri as she visited a mysterious pop icon, portrayed by John Malkovich.
The film came with a modest $10 million price tag but only managed to earn around $2.1 million at the global box office. It was not exactly a strong start, not by any standards and things got tougher for A24 when they followed it up with Death of a Unicorn, which also landed without much impact.

Across the board, the cast of The Bear have numerous notable titles in their careers. Star Jeremy Allen White was no stranger to the small screen even before the Hulu series, having previously played Lip Gallagher on Shameless. Since debuting as Carmy, he has appeared in films such as The Iron Claw.
Another notable Bear actor is Ayo Edebiri. Getting her start in stand-up comedy and writing, Edebiri has contributed her talents in multiple ways throughout her career. In 2023, she starred in the raunchy teen comedy Bottoms. While the movie made just $12.9 million worldwide, the film was well-reviewed and gained a significant following.
Last year, Edebiri was a voice actor in Inside Out 2. The film was well-received by critics and became the highest-grossing movie in Edebiri's career by a long shot. It made just under $1.7 billion worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time.

Exclusive: Steve Howey has been tapped for a major recurring role on Amazon MGM Studios’ college-set romantic drama Off Campus, based on the best-selling book series by Elle Kennedy.
There are 5 books in the series, which depicts the elite ice hockey team, and the women in their lives, as they grapple with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery — forging deep friendships and enduring bonds while navigating the complexities that come with transitioning into adulthood.

The Chi has officially outranked NCIS on Paramount+’s Top 10 TV shows of the week, which now marks a big win for Lena Waithe’s Chicago-set drama. Currently in its seventh season, the series holds legit viewer interest and was renewed for Season 8 in May. Starring Billy Bob Thornton and based on the Boomtown podcast, Landman focuses on the high-stakes world of Texas oil and premiered on Paramount+ in November 2024.

Jeremy Allen White’s bodyguard took some precautionary measures during a fan encounter on the set of “The Bear” Season 4 that left the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor pretty embarrassed.
During a Thursday appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” White revealed how the success of “The Bear,” which is shot in Chicago, has made filming the show more chaotic. “We have a bit more security now because we’re out and we’re shooting on location, and people get a little bit excited,” White said. “We don’t really run into trouble very often. People are always really nice.”
The actor has come to rely on an ex-cop named Moody, whom he met while he was filming “Shameless” in Chicago, to be his bodyguard whenever he is in the Windy City. His relationship with Moody, however, resulted in an embarrassing moment when they were shooting the new season of “The Bear.

Season 4 of The Bear just dropped, and whew, Carmy might finally be learning that running a restaurant isn’t a solo sport (or a daily anxiety spiral). Sydney’s cooking up more than just potential, Ebra’s turning the takeout window into a one-man empire, and the guest stars are less “look who we booked!” and more “oh hey, that really works.”
Sure, the show’s still yelling, stressing, and moodily slicing herbs in silence, but at least it’s making progress. There’s still trauma, tension, and timers ticking, but The Bear might be inching toward a kitchen that runs on collaboration instead of Carmy’s emotional damage.
And if you’ve devoured this season like a perfectly toasted beef sandwich and still want more, more chaos, more found family, more characters barely holding it together, then congratulations, chef. These 15 TV shows are your next course. They’ve got the flavor,...

Like Max before it, Paramount+ With Showtime is being rebranded with the name that it was originally rebranded to replace.
There must be something in the streaming air, as everything old is new again; at least when it comes to platform branding. In May, Warner Bros Discovery announced that it would be returning its flagship streaming service to its previous name, going from the vague Max to the more prestigious and specific HBO Max. Now, Paramount Global is doing the same thing, but in reverse. The company has started the process of rolling back the name of its streamer’s ad-free premium tier from the descriptive, yet cumbersome, Paramount+ With Showtime to its previous name, the more traditional Paramount+ Premium.
Key Details: Run it back: Paramount+ is officially returning its ad-free tier to its original name Paramount+ Premium.” No other changes: Other than discarding the clunky “Paramount+ With Showtime” moniker,...

As her latest film Words of War is released, now is your chance to ask about anything from Myra Hindley to Twinkle in Dinnerladies
Maxine Peake’s film career took off as Stephen Hawking’s nurse and second wife in 2014’s The Theory of Everything, in a role that the Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw said she approached “with delicacy”. It was a far cry from Twinkle the snarky dinner lady from Victoria Wood’s sitcom Dinnerladies, but not the first time she portrayed a real-life person. She played Myra Hindley in the 2006 ITV drama See No Evil: The Moors Murders, and the titular 19th-century Yorkshire lesbian landowner in the 2010 BBC period drama The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister.
Peake has done a ton more TV: she played Veronica Ball in Channel 4’s Shameless, Martha Costello in BBC One legal drama Silk, and Grace Middleton in BBC One drama series The Village.

While many of Rowling’s online interactions lead to arguments over transgender rights, her latest comments were directed away from controversy and instead focused on the upcoming TV reboot of the Harry Potter saga. Edgar Wright and Glen Powell’s highly anticipated remake of The Running Man is officially slated for a theatrical release on November 7, 2025. Naturally, the new film will be compared to the 1987 cult favorite that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Although the original adaptation of Stephen King’s dystopian novel has maintained a loyal fanbase over the years, Schwarzenegger recently acknowledged that the upcoming remake has a real chance to surpass his version by addressing its past limitations.
In a new interview with Cbr, Schwarzenegger discusses the upcoming remake, touching on some weak points in the original that he thinks Wright and Powell's film can improve upon.
Said Schwarzenegger, "Running Man’ was one of the movies that…I think it would have been great if we would have been better prepared for this movie if we would have had more money for this movie, and if we would have had then… the visual effects,...

20th Century Studios is ready to press play on a teaser for Deliver Me from Nowhere, the biographical musical drama film starring Jeremy Allen White as the American rock singer and icon Bruce Springsteen. The teaser is an amuse-bouche for tomorrow’s full trailer reveal, with the Scott Cooper-directed feature focusing on the conception of Springsteen’s album Nebraska.
Today’s Deliver Me from Nowhere teaser presents a 30-second clip of someone (presumably Bruce Springsteen or a record executive) inserting a cassette tape into a diesel-looking stereo system. The sound of the tape getting loaded into the deck and subsequent button presses emits some inspired Asmr for audiophiles as reels rotate. The cassette, marked ‘Colts Neck – Demo,’ plays an early cut of the Boss’s pop-influenced hit ‘Born in the U.S.A.,’ before the screen fades to black.

Tom Hanks and sons have often captured public attention for their diverse talents and individual accomplishments. He welcomed his eldest son, Colin Hanks, with his college sweetheart and first wife, the late Samantha Lewes. After their divorce in 1987, Hanks married actress and singer Rita Wilson the following year. Together, they had two more sons: Chet and Truman. Yellowjackets star Samantha Hanratty plays young Misty on the hit teen survival TV show, but this is far from the only series she's had a great time working on. On the underrated 2000s fantasy TV show that holds up today, Pushing Daisies, audiences can catch a glimpse of Hanratty playing the child version of Chuck, portrayed by Anna Friel in adulthood. Hanratty spoke to Collider about her experience on the series and the fact that playing Misty and Chuck has impacted her work as an actress, and that she would return to the series if it came back.
Before she was Misty on Yellowjackets, Hanratty was on Pushing Daisies, which aired from 2007 to 2009, and though it was critically acclaimed, it ended up being canceled despite the innovative storytelling style. Following the story of Ned (Lee Pace), a piemaker with the ability to bring back the dead, the forbidden romance between...

Samantha Hanratty knows what it is like to play a "young" character. Meaning she has "Young Misty" on Yellowjacketsand "Young Chuck" on Pushing Daisiesunder her belt. It isn't easy to bring a younger version of a character to life, and yet she has done it beautifully twice now. Hanratty was at the Newport TV Festival when she spoke with Collider's Aidan Kelleyabout some of her work. There, he asked her about the trick to playing a "young" character and making it not feel like an imitation.
"It's intimidating. Especially with such talented and incredible women," Hanratty said. "And I feel like you want to do so well, but I think I have to remind myself that even though they are the same person, they're not at the same time. Because we're so not who we were when we were kids. So I think I try to allow myself some...

The film is directed by Scott Cooper and features The Bear's White as the main star. Hoffmann plays Adele Springsteen, Bruce's mother. In addition to White and Hoffman, Deliver Me From Nowhere features a leading cast including Stephen Graham, Paul Walter Hauser, Jeremy Strong, and Marc Maron.
In an interview with ScreenRant for Poker Face season 2, Hoffmann previews White's performance in the role. Hoffman notes that she "didn't actually get to see Jeremy embody Bruce" because her scenes were filmed with a younger version of the character. She did, however, preview Springsteen's own reaction to White's performance, noting that the musician "couldn't believe that what he was hearing wasn't his own voice." She thinks White "really went for it.

Known for her work on the Netflix drama, Maid, Molly Smith Metzler has returned with her new limited series, Sirens, a dark comedy featuring a star-studded cast including Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, and Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore.
The series is based on Metzler’s play Elemeno Pea, which she wrote after her experiences working at an exclusive yacht club, an environment she found both astonishing and intriguing. Those experiences inspired the play, which she has now adapted into the Netflix series.

When “Maid” creator Molly Smith Metzler stepped off the ferry in Martha’s Vineyard for a post-grad summer working at an exclusive yacht club, she immediately became fascinated by the women, who, outfitted in head-to-toe pastels, moved in packs across the island.
“I didn’t really know that level of wealth even existed in America,” Metzler told TheWrap. “I just remember that feeling of, ‘they are something that I’m not welcome in and I want to be welcome.’ Their life looks way more fun than ours — They’re having gimlets. They’re on their super yachts — the wealth in this country is a cult.”
For Metzler, who was 22 at the time, that summer kicked off what she calls an “almost obsessive interest in writing about class in America,” which led her to write a play based on her experiences based in Martha’s Vineyard, which would later become “Sirens.

Julianne Moore celebrated the premiere of her next project, “Sirens” on Netflix, on Tuesday, May 20 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The limited series features Moore alongside Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, Kevin Bacon, and Glenn Howerton in the Margot Robbie-produced project from “Maid” creator Molly Smith Metzler.
On the carpet, IndieWire caught up with Moore about Jesse Eisenberg’s upcoming A24 musical film. As for what she can tease, Moore told us that she will indeed be showing off her vocal chops, a follow-up to singing a little bit in 2021’s “Dear Evan Hansen”: “Yes, I am. I’m singing. We’re all singing in it,” she said.
“Jesse Eisenberg is just the most extraordinary person,” she continued. “He’s so incredibly creative. I feel so fortunate to be able to work with him. This is very different, but I think that he can have sort of a satirical worldview.

Jeremy Allen White’s iconic Carmy almost can’t take the heat from the pressures of running a kitchen. Beloved Hulu show “The Bear” is back for Season 4, with the first look showing financier Cicero (Oliver Platt) pushing Carmy (White) to save his restaurant as time ticks by. The Antler Queen lives on. A month ago, Yellowjackets wrapped Season 3 and left many questions in fans' minds. The Season 3 finale, "Full Circle," was the show's most-watched episode ever, according to Paramount+, with 3 million viewers. The streaming platform also announced that the latest season of the thriller series ranks among the most watched so far, suggesting that fans are more curious than ever to find out what the heck is going on in the wilderness and what secrets the girls and women are still hiding. The series' Rotten Tomatoes score, however, suggests that, despite the curiosity, fans are...
