Wonderfully written and Executed. Has all the hallmark of being one of the best from Tamil in OTT.

Vimal was flawless, and so was Balasaravanan. Visuals were brilliant, particularly the opening scene where the station dynamics was shown. A very rooted story and no non sense story telling helps this series be one of the best.

This was my first (?) Tamil web series, had heard a lot about it over the past few weeks, finally got around do it.

A mystery drama usually is usually my go-to genre so I was a little hesitant but the show didn't disappoint. It's very grounded, nothing over-the-top, no unnecessary heroism/overacting no big names, no fancy slo-mo shots. This simply had a story shot and told in a way that it could seem as real as possible. Shoutout to the music team for REALLY GOOD sound-design.

Instead of a 7ep show, this would have made for a really good movie (as per the original plans) but even at a 4hr total runtime, it didn't feel like 4 hrs. A few scenes here and there did make me feel like "Bruh, why would write it that way?" but I don't know if that's just me and even if it is, a handful scenes in a 4hr show is something I can live with.

You should surely check it out if you like this genre.

Awesome Thriller - Screenplay & BGM Score Top Notch - Many times better than watching all dumb movies - Better than Irai. This series which is almost shot like a movie, is completely all together an different attempt whic has played out very well. Plus a top notch act from the entire cast.

This webseries is full of twist and turn, made me to watch all episodes in full stretch... Director has well brought out the work life balance challenges of Police department. Vimal and Bala Saravanan acting are very casual and synced well with story. Ultimate hero to me is Krishna character, from saadhu to saadhu villan. Best acting in this movie.

Overall, good entertainment series..

I really hope Kollywood uses faded stars like Vemal to act in TV series and release it in OTT platforms. There are very few series in Kollywood that are known to many - As I am Suffering from Kaadhal and Irudhuruvangal were the only ones that I can remember. Even Triples and Live Telecast were average and was not Series worthy. This beats all that. Except for the excessive violence that overshadows the story and some beat around the bush scenes , it's a terrific thriller series from Kollywood.

The plot just deviated and end was so basic. If you watch the beginning and you will be edge of the seat to know what next and makes so curious, but sadly the end was not much. But from screenplay, music, cinematography, actor, and story was great. Hope the next series might be a good one.

It is a rare case to see crime series in Tamil. After November story, Vilangu is the next one to release in Tamil. There are dubbed ones but officially Tamil alone is rare of the rarest in crime series.

With less number of characters, the story is made very clearly and did not deviate anywhere. All the comedy and sentiment scenes were inside the plot and nothing was moving the story away.

Vemal did it as usual and particularly did not spoil the plot.

Iniya is dummy and roped in for namesake.

Bala Saravanan reduced his weight and did a great role in this series Muneeshkanth is dropped in middle and did not appear during the last 2 episodes at all.

Other characters including the Kicha character were neatly placed.

Absolutely the crime is revealed in middle but the pain of the police is shown as it is.

The lockup scenes and investigation scenes were frightening a lot and never ever get locked as an accused in Tamilnadu.....

Fresh story line well scripted by director,great performance from all the casts,Last three episodes r stunning and black comedy is uniquely one of its kind....must see verdict.

While the series is watchable, there are too many holes in the story. On one hand the cops thrash people at will and on the other hand they willingly let an accused roam free. Total BS.

A well scripted and directed crime thriller tamil original web series. Story evolves in and around Trichy area, and story, script make sures once you start the 1st episode you cant resist yourself untill you complete all episodes. Kudos to the team.

An excellent come back for Vimal...an interesting thriller giving us a seat edge experience till the last episode of the series..i thought It was a movie initially and wasn't interested initially later it extended and satisfied every aspect of the scene.it is I think a low budget though it worked well and gave a clear pakka satisfaction.. Not only for Vimal also for the Bala Saravanan..though he is a comedian the role he played in this one is a feather added to his crown..it was more equal role similar to hero..the acting he made was really awesome and to be appreciated..this web series should be a drastic change in his career The twist were the highlights and even at the climax it worked well ..the screenplay was awesome and thrilled us with background score.

The killer wasn't expecting to found and when he was found we didn't expect him to be a killer..that too a serial killer.. This series well worked with this serial killer episodes and with usual caste references and the way the director made those were also good Overall - a good series in Tamil which can be better said to be one of the best thriller series and need much like of this better than big budget series.

I always wondered while watching Korean crime movies,how could they neatly execute an realistic crime thriller with small budget and we cannot perfect it . Vilangu answered it right from start to end. I really enjoyed it. Hats of to the director,story writer,screen play,actors and producer. Next time trying this kind of project keep in mind what got you success and don't involve big stars and deviate story for some masala package ,keep it as neat as this. Pathetic to see good young directors wasted to compensate big stars image , letting down in storytelling in tamil cinema,Vijay with lokesh kanagaraj and Vinoth with Ajith Kumar sir ,both lost their path.

A well made Crime mystery series in tamil . Not an usual crime series . Story was interesting and well developed . Series had few characters , each and every characters were very well designed . Great comeback from Vemal , other cast done their job very well . Apart from investigations , they showed struggles faced by a cop in his daily life , it was really heartbreaking to watch . Lockup scenes were really frightening . Technically , cinematography and music were great . Lip syncing was bad in few places . Overall a good crime mystery series to watch . Strictly 18+ due to strong profanity , few violence and sexual content .

The story: It's thoroughly engaging and keeps you engrossed in each episode. Each episode flows into the next beautifully, making it binge worthy.

The cast: Each and every person has played their role really well. From subtle facial expressions that mean volumes to animated feelings all add to the immersive experience of this series. Kudos to Vemal for playing the role so well.

The editing: Crisp and sharp editing keeps you on the edge of the seat and guessing who and how and what's next.

Summary: Definitely a must watch. Fast paced engaging crime series.

No base story.....jst cooked up climax.... Starting 2 episodes are interesting......The cast is the best one. Mainly the actor performed really well. U can understand how the police station daily works and get an idea about it. Story is all around a village in Trichy.. Starting episode feels us to have an intersting climax but it really fails too...Once the main antagonist comes to the scenes, the films starts lagging..Not feeling for the motive of the villians revenge on killing people. Atleast they would have add some intention for murdering people. Waste on watching all episodes. Not happy.

'Vilangu' makes for a gripping watch because it downplays its surprises intelligently, and doesn't fall back on flashy, unrealistic reveals that revolve around a hero cop. Worth watch series.

This web series is amazing not because of the plot, but rather the characterization of the various people. The villain is not a dominating one but still gives you chills, the protagonist is not a macho action hero but he gets things done in his own interesting way.

Its a beautiful insight of what works when sheer brute force and emotions come into play. The hero and the killer have their own set of problems to solve and their own motives which makes it an interesting watch. One of the honest and well made attempt in Tamil web series.

The village setting and rural theme was replicated in another web series - "Vadandhi" which was meh. Do watch this.

Generally don't watch Web Series, but after having read its review in Vikatan, thought of giving it a try.

What started as an one episode plan, went onto complete 4 episodes at a stretch completing 4 episodes, because of its excellent screenplay and very different Background music.

Whoever (adult) would like to start watching Tamil Web-series, probably can start with this.

Acting of Vimal was too good and in some places he simply scores with his silence and facial reactions, same goes to Kiccha Ravi too, what a performance, out of the blue!

Very good supporting roles done by Bala Saravanan & Munishkanth too.

Reason for 8 stars is, till 4th episode, since there are plenty of twists and turns, it keeps audience guessing, however from 5th episode, screenplay loses its intensity and audience can easily guess, what's coming. Probably those two episodes could have been better done!

I had to pass my week off couple of days ago and without much expectations, i sat to start watching Vilangu (Shackles). This series has impressed me with lifestyle portrayal of policemen and their distinctive way of treating guilty in police station. Apparently, i would like to laud Ajesh for his incredible contribution in music part. The narration was like a slow dopamine, it perfects with on and off riveting, paradigm changing scenes. Most importantly, Vimal aka Vemal numerology name change has worked out well for the actor and this is his exact premise to prove himself and he does well indeed without a flaw. Beside him, Bala Saravanan is astounding & equally intimidating with his crisp dialects, profanities are easily makes viewers to glued into it. And, Kicha is sure a chicken dinner winner & startles by his uncanny acting. With all of this aforesaid accolades, i personally felt unnecessary obscene scenes could have trimmed and that could leverage "Vilangu" to recommend to all age watch entertainer. Albeit, it is definitely watchable first ever tamil decent web series. Mr Prashanth Pandiraj, you have proved your capability as a director.

Though the series was good and interesting and kept the audience engaging. There were many open ended questions at the end when the series got over.

Overall a good watch.
