I probably will watch it again

This movie is more like a docu-drama in that it shows scenes from Turquoise Rose's time in Phoenix and on the reservation. It shows situations and their resolution in several scenes, then fades to black, then shows another situation in several scenes.

It's not like regular movies today where you meet the protagonists, find out what the issue to be addressed is, then see the conclusion. Although the movie is oddly edited, it's still a cohesive unit that tells a watchable story.

I found it fascinating as my family legends include Cherokee and Algonqian Powhatan stories but too far back to claim Native American status. I've read of the Trail of Tears and some of the reservations' histories.

I hope this is a true depiction of what the Navajo reservation is like today. I wish I could speak the Navajo language to understand the parts that weren't translated.

I probably will watch it again.

    Inspiring and heartwarming

"Turquoise Rose" is a must-see and truly a hidden gem of a film. As an early 2000s coming-of-age story set in the stunning landscapes of America's Southwest, it captured my attention from the very beginning.

What makes this film truly special is the fresh perspective brought by the first-time director and the many first-time actors. They create an authentic and immersive cinematic experience that beautifully explores themes of self-discovery, loss, family expectations, and culture that resonated deeply with me

From the beauty of the Southwest to the journey of personal growth found in this film, every frame of "Turquoise Rose" is a work of art. It's a film that stays with you long after you've watched it, reminding you of the power of storytelling and the beauty of human connection. Whether you're a fan of coming-of-age tales or simply appreciate a well-crafted film that speaks to the soul, "Turquoise Rose" is a must-watch.

    Bonding with grandmother

Turquoise Rose (2007) is a very interesting movie based on a simple and touching event involving the main character of the story, a young woman named Turquoise Rose. The event relates to the visit of Turquoise to her grandmother who lives in an Indian reservation (USA). The reservation is part of a geographic region that has mesmerizing landscapes, which contributes to making the scenario very attractive. The actors are much fitted for the roles they play and the songs match the film very well. The event can be translated as the return of Turquoise Rose to her cultural and ethnic roots and the (re)establishment of a deep bonding with her grandmother.

Interesting story with many looks at the Navajo culture from the indigenous viewpoint.
