H. Jon Benjamin, Kristen Schaal, Eugene Mirman, Dan Mintz, and John Roberts in Bob's Burgers (2011)

Review by aDingoEttMyBaby

Bob's Burgers

3/10

Because other things are terrible....

The father's voice is horrible; I really wish his actor would stop showing up in stuff. He makes me want to fall asleep. The rest of the character voice choices are also too niche (which grants "slacker" as a niche).

The characters are also not nice to look at: so much perspective and artistic detail all around, but not an elbow, shoulder or jawline in the bunch.

And, oh, the stories! The stories are really silly and the jokes are tedious. Good writing almost always saves an iffy presentation, allowing it all to "grow on you"--not the case here.

The only redeeming factor about Bob's Burgers is the surrounding emotional defense of it. The worst compliment you can give a person is: "You're OK because other people suck." So why do that for a television show? And it never fails to be the number one defense of Bob's Burgers all over the internet:

"OTHER shows suck, AND if you don't like this show, then that makes Bob's Burgers good."

Wow! That really turns my opinion around! A compelling argument, sir! That truly is the funniest thing about Bob's Burgers, earning it 3 stars. :)
