Lokesh Kanagaraj is back with another film in his ‘multiverse,’ where he has paired with actor Thalapathy Vijay yet again. Their last outing had been quite successful, as Master was praised both critically and commercially. Now the pairing is back with Leo, Vijay’s 67th film. Because of that reason, the movie was supposed to be released with the title Thalapathy 67 but the title Leo worked out just fine. After all, Leo is the one everyone is after in this movie. But the movie begins with Parthiban, who owns a small cafe in Theog, Shimla. He is quite an interesting fellow, as, besides being a simple cafe owner, he is also an animal rescuer and helps local rangers. Like in A History of Violence, the world of crime finds Parthiban, and he is suspected to be the most feared criminal in Tamil Nadu, named Leo Das, because of their uncanny resemblance.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Leo.
Leo and Squirtle's new classroom may not be a better deal than their 5th-grade classroom as the younger and wilder kids pose a potential risk to their safety. The 5th-grade class treated Leo and Squirtle well because they could talk and reason with them, but in their new class, the situation will be different. While Ms. Malkin knows they can talk, there is no guarantee that she will look out for Leo and Squirtle, given her multiple changes of heart. Getting moved to an older classroom would be the best-case scenario for them.
At the end of Leo, Ms. Malkin wins teacher of the year and takes Leo and Squirtle with her to her new classroom, but is their new situation a better deal than the 5th-grade classroom they've spent their lives in so far? Leo is a Netflix original animated movie written by Adam Sandler,...

"Leo" is one of Adam Sandler's best movies ever, showcasing lovable characters, rapid-fire gags, and a heartwarming message. As the ultimate underdog, Leo the pet lizard is easy to root for as he helps kids with their problems. Sandler's success in "Leo" proves that he should take on more animated roles, utilizing his talent for funny voices and creating fun for the whole family.
Adam Sandler’s latest original movie on Netflix, a delightful animated comedy called Leo, proves that the Sandman should be taking more roles in the world of animation. Sandler’s title character in Leo is the pet lizard of a fifth-grade classroom, who decides to share his wisdom with the students when he overhears a parent estimating that he’s going to die soon. Sandler also co-wrote the script for this heartwarming elementary school musical with Paul Sado and fellow Saturday Night Live alum Robert Smigel.

The directors of Leo aimed to create a film that can be enjoyed by the whole family, with jokes and relatable moments for both kids and parents. Robert Smigel's favorite song from the film is "Don't Cry" and musically, he enjoys the pop song "When It's Us." Adam Sandler's strength as a writer is his observational and human understanding of people, according to Robert Smigel.
Adam Sandler’s latest collaboration with Netflix is Leo, an animated musical comedy about a 74-year-old class pet who has a mortality scare and decides he needs to break out of his terrarium. The film was co-written by Sandler, Paul Sado, and Robert Smigel and directed by Smigel, Robert Marianetti, and David Wachtenheim. Given the potential that animated movies have to spawn a slate of products that appeal to children, it’s not surprising that a lot of them go out of their way to introduce characters that are bound to become toys. In this regard, Netflix’s new animated movie Leo already stands out for not trying to throw random characters on the screen with no clear purpose. But the merits of the movie are not limited to that.

Adam Sandler revealed that initially, Roseanne Barr was considered to sing 'The Chanukah Song' on SNL. Sandler wrote 'The Chanukah Song' because he noticed a lack of music about Hanukkah and referenced numerous celebrities with Jewish ties in the song. 'The Chanukah Song' has become a cultural phenomenon, appearing on Sandler's comedy album, charting on Billboard, and being covered and parodied by other artists and shows.

The new animated film Leo feels like a passion project for Adam Sandler, who gave it his all, even though it was just through his voice, to bring a lizard alive on the screen. A lizard of all animals! Sure, there has been Rango, where Rango was a chameleon, but he could at least change colors! A lizard just sounds off for some reason, and here Sandler voices, not a young lizard but a 74-year-old one who wants to see the world, with probably just a year left before it croaks. And yet there is a heartwarming story here, where the lizard named Leo becomes the reason why the lives of fifth graders change for the better. Some stories have a plot that is perhaps too grim to be dealt with directly, and this is where children’s stories come in. Sometimes, they can harbor great themes that even lengthy...

Leo, the new Adam Sandler animated comedy, is a movie with an identity crisis. A sincere and sweet kids’ movie mashed up with a more subversive adult skewering of that genre, it’s funny and touching in parts but never adds up to a cohesive whole. It’s a fine distraction for family night, but never establishes its own identity.
Sandler dons a curmudgeonly voice as the titular character, a lizard who’s spent his entire life in a terrarium inside a fifth grade classroom. Old and jaded, Leo spends his days critiquing the kids and bemoaning the current state of parents and their children alongside his best friend, an equally cranky turtle named Squirtle, voiced by Bill Burr. When the 74-year-old Leo learns that he’s only one year away from the end of his anticipated lifespan, he plots an escape so that he can finally enjoy the high life in the Everglades.

It is a product that aims to be enjoyable for all, easy to watch, and that, with a careful balance of humor, sentimentality, and catchy songs, will please the audience throughout the film’s hour and a half duration.
Leo
However, beyond that, it is forgettable because “Leo” is so classic and relies on so many pre-designed formulas that, in a way,...

Directed by David Wachtenheim, Robert Marianetti, and Robert Smigel, Netflix is all set to release Leo, featuring Adam Sandler, Bill Burr, and Cecily Strong as voice artists. An aging lizard named Leo is the protagonist of the story, which follows his journey to finding freedom and making friends along the way. The major dilemma of the story revolves around whether Leo will eventually achieve freedom, or he will discover freedom through connections with humans.
Leo shares thematic similarities with animated classics like Up, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Monsters, Inc. by exploring friendship, adventure, and self-discovery. Like Carl in Up, Leo goes on an unexpected journey, almost like the Toy Story series. Not only that, but Leo’s journey to...

Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi has sided with Tamil star Trisha, slamming actor Mansoor Ali Khan’s comments calling him and his derogatory comments ‘disgusting’.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Chiranjeevi on Tuesday wrote: “My attention was drawn to some reprehensible comments made by actor Mansoor Ali Khan about Trisha.”
The actor added: “The comments are distasteful and disgusting not just for an artiste but for any woman or girl. These comments must be condemned in the strongest words. They reek of perversion.”
Concluding his statement, Chiranjeevi wrote: “I stand with @trishtrashers and every woman who has to be subject to such horrid comments.”
The whole controversy between Mansoor and Trisha erupted when the former made some rather bad, and somewhat insulting comments on the ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ actress.
Since both the actors co-starred in Thalapathy Vijay’s Tamil blockbuster film ‘Leo’, the ‘Captain Prabhakaran’ actor thought there may be a bedroom scene...

Adam Sandler is heading back to fifth grade for his latest film, Leo.
In the Netflix animated movie, the star voices a 70-year-old lizard named Leo, who for decades has served as a class pet for a rotating group of fifth graders. One day, he learns he only has a year left to live and plans to escape to freedom, but instead has to rescue the students from their mean substitute teacher.
Sandler, who also co-wrote and produced the project, told The Hollywood Reporter at its Los Angeles premiere on Sunday that he was inspired to a do a version of “Grease for the last year of elementary school,” while working with writer-director Robert Smigel to craft a musical comedy. Sandler stars in the voice cast alongside his daughters Sunny and Sadie, as well as wife Jackie, marking the second family collaboration they’ve done this year, after You Are...

Leo, a new animated film starring Adam Sandler, takes its time to establish its story, resulting in a film that struggles to find its own identity. The film tries on many different formal approaches, with some working well, like the chemistry between Sandler and Bill Burr, while others, like the musical numbers, fall flat. Despite its flaws, Leo radiates warmth and charm, with moments of greatness, showcasing the care and passion put into its creation.
Adam Sandler is back on Netflix with another original movie. The star’s history with the streamer stretches back to the earliest days of the platform’s original content, with his critically panned The Ridiculous Six predating the first season of Stranger Things. Sandler’s new film, Leo, is produced under the star’s Happy Madison production company and written by Sandler, alongside longtime collaborators Robert Smigel and Paul Sado. ‘Leo’ Review: Adam Sandler Plays a Literal Teacher’s Pet in Winning Toon From the ‘TV Funhouse’ Team
“Perhaps if people talked less, animals would talk more,” observes one of the human characters in “Charlotte’s Web,” a kiddie classic that serves as both the butt of several jokes and an inspiration for Adam Sandler’s animated “Leo,” an endearing Netflix original that strikes just the right balance between heart and fart jokes.
Basing the way Leo sounds on his squeaky-scratchy, slightly guttural impression of the late Hollywood agent Bernie Brillstein, Sandler voices a crusty old iguana who’s spent three-quarters of a century — practically his entire life — trapped in an elementary school classroom. Leo’s wisdom is largely limited to what’s taught in fifth grade, though he’s observed enough kids over his 74 years that the lizard reckons he’s qualified to advise this crop. Truth be told, he’s cheaper and more consistently helpful than your typical child psychologist.

It’s a cool indie weekend when the new album by André 3000, New Blue Sun, has morphed into a “cinematic listening experience.” Variance Films is putting the experience, directed by Terence Nance, into three theaters in NYC (IFC Center), LA (Cinepolis Inglewood) and Atlanta (Tara).
Right now, it’s just those locations but after this weekend, “We will see what happens, where the wind takes us,” said Variance CEO Dylan Marchetti. “I swear, I wanted to make a ‘visual album’ but this is literally the way the wind blew me this time,” André has said.
Asked what’s is on the screen, Marchetti said, “Vibes.”
New Blue Sun, out today, is André’s debut solo album, his first full-length LP since his group Outkast released its last record 17 years ago. He described it as “an entirely instrumental album centered around woodwinds; a celebratory piece of work in the form of a living,...

There’s a war going on inside many Adam Sandler movies and the loser is frequently the audience. Sandler may be an innately lovable performer, but his sense of humor is also abrasive and immature. So for every great Sandler comedy like “Happy Gilmore” or the overlooked “Hubie Halloween” — films that strike a satisfying balance between charm and adolescent weirdness — there are also films like “That’s My Boy” and “Jack and Jill,” where our affection for Sandler can’t quite compensate for an overwhelming cavalcade of mean-spirited “jokes” that confuse bullying with whimsy.
But when Sandler delves into the world of family-friendly animation he usually sets aside his vicious streak, so his childish humor and uncomplicated moralizing can shine through. You won’t find much of his immaturity in the “Hotel Transylvania” movies or in his new animated Netflix film “Leo” — which he co-wrote with Robert Smigel and Paul Sado...

In celebration of National Substitute Teacher Day, Collider is delighted to share an exclusive new clip from Netflix's upcoming animated comedy Leo. The family-friendly adventure stars Adam Sandler as the titular character, an elementary school classroom's pet lizard. The clip shows Leo discussing and Squirtle (Bill Burr) — a turtle — discussing going home with a student when the new teacher Mrs. Malkin (Cecily Strong) insists the students do so learn responsibility. While it doesn't seem like an excellent idea to the turtle — given a series of past experiences including one student taking him to a tattoo shop — Leo believes that heading home with a student is exactly what he needs for his grand escape.

It's a little humbling to realize that Adam Sandler is in his mid-fifties, just a few years away from the milestone birthday of 60 years old. Sandler is all but enshrined as a comedy icon, having recently received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and being known to one generation as a mischievous part of "Saturday Night Live" and to another for his roles in animated films like "Hotel Transylvania." Mortality and legacy are -- at least somewhat -- a part of Sandler's latest project, an animated film from Netflix (where he's primarily worked for the last few years). The film is "Leo," which coasts on irresistible charm even when the plot is a bit light. Though "Leo" is perhaps not the most groundbreaking animated film of the year, its gentle tone and emotion mixed with some standard anarchic gags from the Happy Madison school of comedy work in its favor.

Vijay-starring “Leo: Bloody Sweet” is the fifth highest grossing Indian film of the year with $72 million. Its director Lokesh Kanagaraj is now in high demand.
The film got off to a winning start when it released in October, debuting in third position at the global box office with a $31.2 million weekend. The action-thriller follows a docile cafe owner (Vijay) who is incited to return to his violent past. The film name checks David Cronenberg’s 2005 film “A History of Violence.”
“It inspired me to write ‘Leo.’ ‘A History of Violence’ left its mark on me and from that this movie was born. ‘Leo’ is my tribute,” Kanagaraj told Variety. “The success of ‘Leo’ means a lot to not just me but the entire team.”

The trailer for actor Sathish’s horror-comedy film ‘Conjuring Kannapan’ is out, and it is both terrifying and hilarious. Full of eerie happenings, lurking ghosts, abominable horrors, all the while fused with a lot of rib tickling comedy, the film is both twisted and comical.
The trailer starts off as pure horror, as Satish is always finding himself in one house while he sleeps. An eerie mansion, he always finds a ghost who is never fully revealed but always scares the living daylights out of him.
Confused and sweating with heart palpitations, the trailer then shifts to Naseer who tells him that in this dream an evil bloody thirsty spirit is wondering. In ‘Matrix’ fashion, you die in the dream then you die for real as the ghost will destroy the mind.
Then after a couple of other spooky ‘Conjuring’ style horrors, the trailer adopts a complete change in tone and becomes hilarious.
