That’s right, Dexter Morgan is officially back from the dead (again), and he’s ready to hit the streets for some new kills.

The last time we saw Dexter (spoiler), he was shot dead by his own son, Harrison Morgan, in “Dexter: New Blood.” Just when fans thought their beloved serial killer’s storybook had finally closed, we got an inkling that the timid and kind murderer might still be breathing in the opening scene of the prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin.”

This time around, the series introduces several new faces and welcomes back some of the OGs from the original “Dexter” series. Check out the main cast in “Dexter: Resurrection” below.

Totoro is making his way back onto the big screen.

As part of Gkids and Fathom Entertainment’s Studio Ghibli Fest, “My Neighbor Totoro” will be re-released in theaters across the country July 19-23. Hayao Miyazaki’s 1988 film follows sisters Satsuki and Mei, who relocate to a country home alongside their father to be close to their hospitalized mother. As the two children explore the countryside, they stumble upon creatures, including forest spirit Totoro.

Screenings will include both English dubbed and Japanese versions. Audience members can stick around after the film ends for a “Creating the Characters” bonus featurette that will include Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki.

This year’s Studio Ghibli Fest consists of an eight-film lineup, including “The Boy and the Heron” (the first time the film returns to theaters after its 2023 release).

John Travolta, Katherine Heigl and Christopher Walken lead romantic comedy “That’s Amore!,” which is in pre-production. Written and directed by “Green Book” writer Nick Vallelonga, the film follows two emotionally damaged people who attempt to date one another, and when their families get involved, comedy ensues.

The producers are Vallelonga (Vallelonga Prods.), Cassian Elwes (Elevated Films), Brenda Emmett and Vince Emmett (American Troubadours), David Polemeni; Tamara Birkemoe and Mark Damon, for Palisades Park Pictures, serve as executive producers.

Vampires are taking a wacky bite out of summer. In Season 5 of FX and Hulu’s “What We Do In The Shadows,” Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) looks for a vampire who can give him the transformation that Nandor the Relentless has kept from him. But it may not go as planned. The beloved comedy, which takes a mockumentary look at four vampires living in Staten Island, returns on July 14.

Another highly anticipated return coming to Hulu in July is the latest season of long-running animated series “Futurama.” The show’s first four seasons aired on Fox from 1999 to 2003, it was then picked up by Comedy Central for three seasons from 2008 to 2013. Now, nearly a decade later, the Mike Judge-created series will return for the first half of the 20-episode Season 8 on July 24 with the original voice cast.

Though Dominic Toretto is the face of the Fast & Furious franchise, most of the best one-liners and dialogue are Brian O'Conner quotes. There's no doubt that Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) was the heart of the series, and from the moment he was introduced, Brian had a way of making others feel at ease. Not only did he form lifelong friendships with Dom's crew but his cheery disposition seemed to make them laugh too. Most of all, the best thing about Brian was his humor and one-liners. While Brian was capable of offering some sage or romantic advice, he also provided many moments of comic relief.

Entertainment One (eOne) has solidified its collaboration with U.K. independent production company Hardcash Productions through an exclusive first-look agreement. Under the deal, brokered by Kate Cundall, eOne’s VP of acquisitions, and Robin Barty-King, Hardcash’s business affairs consultant, the partnership aims to develop and produce investigative factual content for the global market. eOne will handle international rights for all projects resulting from this collaboration.

Previously, eOne and Hardcash worked together on the distribution of award-winning documentaries such as “Inside China,” “Fearless: The Women Fighting Putin” and “Outbreak: The Virus that Shook the World,” which have been sold to over 160 territories worldwide.

Cundall said: “Through this collaboration, we’ve secured a unique access to one of the most prestigious documentary makers in the world of factual and documentary programming, and we look forward to continuing to provide award-winning unscripted storytelling to audiences worldwide.”

The late Paul Walker's real Fast & Furious car is going to be put up for auction. Walker first came onto the Hollywood scene with performances in 1999 films Varsity Blues and She's All That, but he didn't become a household name until he starred in 2001's The Fast & The Furious as Brian O'Conner. That film spawned one of the biggest movie franchises in the world, and Walker went on to star in five more films in the series before he died in a car accident in 2013.

One of the vehicles Walker actually drove in a Fast & Furious film is going up for auction at auction house Bonhams (via The National). Exclusive: Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire) has joined the cast of director Josh Webber’s holiday pic Athena Saves Christmas, with Christina Cooper coming aboard as producer.

The film follows Samuel (Paxton Kubitz) and his friends, along with Sam’s trusted dog Athena, on an adventure of a lifetime, as they match wits with a mob boss and look to solve a series of riddles, in order to save Christmas for their town.

Webber is also producing for Webber Films, alongside Michael Girgenti, Henry Penzi and Cooper. We’ve been hearing for a few years now that Brotherhood of the Wolf and Silent Hill director Christophe Gans has been working with producer Victor Hadida to develop a new Silent Hill movie that would be “totally independent from the two previous movies”. Gans directed the 2006 version of Silent Hill from a screenplay he wrote with Roger Avary and Nicolas Boukhrief, and will be directing this new film – which is titled Return to Silent Hill – from a screenplay he has written with Sandra Vo-Anh and Will Schneider… and now Deadline has reported that the project has secured funding! Filming is expected to begin soon.

Exclusive: Ashland Hill Media Finance is to co-finance a slate of four films at various stages of production, including Christophe Gans’ horror reboot Return To Silent Hill, based on the hit Konami video game.

Producers Victor Hadida and Molly Hassell are behind Return To Silent Hill, which The Veterans is handling for international sales. We covered the project back at AFM. Filming is due to get underway soon.

Tribeca Festival is entering the metaverse.

Under a partnership with Meta, 20 titles from Tribeca’s shorts program will be available for the first time on the Meta Quest 2 virtual-reality headset as well as the Tribeca page on Facebook. All of the shorts will stream for free during the festival’s run. The curated shorts collection spans entries dating back to 2019, including those that received less attention in 2020 and ’21 due to the pandemic.

The Tribeca Shorts lineup includes 2022’s “Skin & Bone,” a 17-minute horror film starring Amanda Seyfried (pictured above) and Thomas Sadoski, directed and written by Eli Powers. After a drifter (Sadoski) takes a job on a farm run by a reclusive woman (Seyfried), he begins to suffer from visions of men trapped inside the bodies of animals.

Developed by Guerilla Games, the inaugural Horizon game is set in a post-apocalyptic United States inhabited by robotic creatures, known as Machines, of various size and scale. Horizon Zero Dawn centers on an ambitious and clever, but outcast hunter named Aloy who seeks to uncover the past.

Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO and Chairman Tony Vinciquerra announced Thursday during an investor briefing that hit PlayStation titles “Horizon Zero Dawn” and “Gran Turismo” are being developed as new scripted TV series. Additionally, Sony confirmed that Amazon Prime Video has secured the long-rumored “God of War” TV series.

The “Horizon Zero Dawn” series is in development at Netflix while the planned “Gran Turismo” series has yet to finalize a distributor.

These projects join a growing roster of popular PlayStation titles being leveraged for new on-screen content including: HBO’s “The Last of Us,” Sony’s blockbuster live-action “Uncharted” film and the studio’s gestating feature adaptation of “Ghost of Tsushima.”

Liam O’Donnell (Beyond Skyline, Skylines) will direct Skyline Radial, the fourth installment in the series, from his own script, with the original producing team of the franchise returning to produce. Released in 2010, the original in the series, Skyline, co-written and produced by O’Donnell, was an international box office success and one of the more profitable films of the year.

O’Donnell went on to write and direct the subsequent two sequels, Beyond Skyline (review) and Skylines, (review) to success overseas.

Skyline Radial will center on the franchise’s beloved main character Rose Corley. When Rose and her crew embark on a daring mission to rescue her father, Mark, from a secret prison, they are confronted with the ultimate power of the universe: an ancient alien race known only as The Radial. The latest film is currently casting, with key cast expected to return. Production is slated to start this year.

The two films went to distributors in the UK, Scandinavia, Latin America and other markets.
