Exclusive: Sony Pictures Television has optioned the rights to The Bad Kids, a hit drama series from iQIYI, China’s leading online entertainment platform, with Neal H. Moritz’s (Fast & Furious and Sonic The Hedgehog franchises) Original Film (The Boys franchise) set to produce the adaptation. Marco Ramirez (Netflix’s Daredevil) is attached as showrunner and executive producer and is set to write the pilot episode.

“The Librarians: The Next Chapter” is launching on TNT with a two-night premiere event starting Sunday, May 25.

As a spin-off of the original “Librarians” series, “The Next Chapter” follows the time-traveling Vikram Chamberlain (Callum McGowan) who finds himself stuck in the present. The official synopsis reads: “When Vikram returns to his castle in Belgrade, Serbia and discovers that it is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent. Paradise can’t last forever, it seems: The tropical action drama Almost Paradise has been cancelled after two seasons, TVLine has confirmed.

“We’re looking for a new home,” executive producer Dean Devlin tells TV Insider. “I’ve never had a show that was this successful and yet couldn’t stay at the same place more than one season.” Almost Paradise debuted on WGN America back in 2020 and then moved to Amazon Freevee for Season 2, which aired in July 2023. A source tells TVLine that when Freevee was scrapped last year, Almost Paradise became a casualty.

Reese Witherspoon has shared a first look at Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods in “Elle,” Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming “Legally Blonde” prequel series.

The series recently began filming, Witherspoon announced on Instagram. “Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production!” she wrote.

Per the official logline, the series “follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first ‘Legally Blonde’ film.”

For years, Sarah Michelle Gellar shut down the idea of coming back to reprise her titular role in a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot. However, this year, she officially confirmed a revival is in the works.

Few details are known about the sequel series, except that it will bring back Gellar. Two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao, who is a long-time fan of the series, is attached to the project to direct. with Nora and Zila Zuckerman as writers, showrunners, and executive producers. Speaking to People, Sarah Michelle Gellar detailed that the Buffy update is progressing fast.

Despite being very different, movies like Cruel Intentions and Jane Eyre share the premise of trust and mistrust in a relationship. They both have complex characters who give in to a forbidden love. The streamer decided to restart the franchise off with an 8-episode television series. Though its the end of the road for the show, clearly not hitting with audiences like its predecessors.

According to TVLine, Cruel Intentions on Prime Video has been cancelled after just one season. There was no reason given as to why the streaming service decided to go in this route. Per Variety, Cruel Intentions has been canceled at Prime Video after one season. It's an unfortunate end for the series, which had to overcome some major hurdles in development to finally get made. The Cruel Intentions reboot was first announced in 2021 for IMDb TV/Amazon Freevee in 2021, though it was not officially ordered to series on Prime Video until late 2023.

Upon release, the reboot proved to be polarizing, garnering a Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 24% with a much-higher audience score of 81%. Prime Video has opted not to renew “Cruel Intentions” for a second season, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. The news comes just under four months after “Cruel Intentions” first launched on Prime Video in November.

The series, which was led by “The White Lotus” star Sarah Catherine Hook, reimagined the 1999 cult classic film of the same name as well as 1988’s “Dangerous Liaisons,” except this time the tale took place in collegiate Greek life.

Hook starred as Caroline Merteuil, who made a deal with her step-brother, Lucien Belmont (Zac Burgess), for Lucien to seduce naive newcomer and daughter of the VP, Annie Grover (Savannah Lee Smith), in order to sway her to join Caroline’s sorority as a way to shield her chapter from an ongoing hazing scandal. If Lucien was successful, Caroline promised him that she would give him what he really wanted: her.

Variety has learned exclusively that the “Cruel Intentions” TV series at Amazon Prime Video has been canceled after just one season. The series originally debuted on the streamer in November 2024. The show served as a TV update to the 1999 film of the same name, which was itself based on the classic novel “Dangerous Liaisons.”
