Mediocre
I really wanted to like this, the news I'd read on the series said that the show would revolve around Red and Kitty but it does not. It revolves around Eric and Donna's daughter Leia (yeah, a dumb Star Wars joke) who comes to stay the summer with her grandparents and befriends a group of kids who all, of course hang out with her in the basement and occasionally get high (they really change things up *rolls eyes*)
The show doesn't really reflect the 90's in any way, it seems like it's written by zoomers who did a half hour of research into the decade. It could be still be set in the 70's and it would still be the same.
The new kids (actors AND their characters) on the show are mostly awful, Callie Haverda who plays the main character is an awful actress, just awful. Her and the other kids deliver their lines as if they are on a Disney show from the early 00's. One of the male leads is wearing lipstick, not just a touch up so his features can show on camera but we're talking slathered on his lips thickly, it's distracting every time he comes on screen. The writing is abysmally bad when it comes to the kids, but Red and Kitty still pop and their chemistry is still great but they make up maybe 20% of the show sadly, the other cast members poking their heads in the door is great but very limited. It would also have been nice for them to at least mention Hyde, I know the showrunners won't have Danny Masterson on the show but at least come up with a clever way of writing him off, his character is far too important in the original shows legacy.
