It's been awhile since we've heard about Todd and The Book of Pure Evil: The End of The End, an animated feature-length movie based on the popular Canadian TV show. The official Todd Facebook page has arrived with an update. And an animated teaser! It sounds like this movie might be finished this year. For now, we only get to see a quick 15 second glimpse at what's to come.

Todd and The Book of Pure Evil: The End of The End has been a long time coming, with a successful Indiegogo campaign coming to an end way back in the summer of 2013. It’s more fitting than frustrating that Slasher, horror network Chiller’s first foray into original scripted programming, unspools as an unabashed amalgam of horror movie tropes. After all, the NBCUniversal-owned channel has carved out a funky little niche for itself broadcasting “scary good” films and TV series, from classics like Kolchak: The Night Stalker to little gems like Harper’s Island, not so much curating its content as airing it all as a bloody buffet for horror hounds.

As someone who relishes new and unusual storytelling, it’s been great to see the recent boom of films coming out of New Zealand, a country that embraces and celebrates the unusual in ways most other places in the world just cannot. We talked to Jason Mewes this week about the release of Jay and Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie On Deman, and we couldn't help but bring up the cult Canadian TV series Todd and the Book of Pure Evil. The show ended after two very successful seasons, but wasn't renewed because of its high budget. This was before it caught on in America, as a new audience became attached to the supernatural comedy about a pair of high school friends attempting to keep a dangerous book out of the wrong hands. Airing on Netflix, more and more people are joining the cult of Todd as we speak.

But not to worry. The series isn't completely dead. An animated movie is on the way, and will wrap up the series while leaving it open for another season or a live action movie, if enough interest demands it.

Stoners Jay and Bob hit the lottery jackpot and use their cash windfall to become crime-fighting superheroes in this latest outing, now available On Demand. We recently caught up with Jay himself, Mr. Mewes, for a chat about the movie. It was originally conceived as a tour-only treat for fans, but once they realized shows were selling out, and not everyone could see it, they decided to bring it home. We discuss this, the inevitable groovy cartoon sequel that Jason is currently writing, and the destiny of the long awaited Clerks III. Todd and the Book of Pure Evil is about a demonic high school where a group of teens partner with a janitor (Jason Mewes) to fight the evil forces running the school (and possibly the world?). It's like Glee meets Scott Pilgrim with far worse dialogue and writing than Glee ever mustered (if that's even remotely possible). And it's more Canadian, or something.

Although, I never watched the first season, I'm noW kind of glad I didn't. While not a terrible concept or anything, the execution is piss-poor. The acting is abysmal and the writing is completely lifeless. I'm not sure I understand the high marks the series gets, or how this series has fans in any way, shape or form.

Genre television is becoming a major presence in primetime TV. Shows like American Horror Story, Hannibal, True Blood and Grimm are dominating the air and doing big numbers for cable and network stations alike. Subsequently, there is a new trend of reviving series once thought to be dead. Netflix is resurrecting Arrested Development, Fox is bringing back 24, TBS rebooted Cougartown. FEARnet is even getting in on the game, bringing back Reaper with an all-new reunion special airing May 28th.

We at FEARnet, being die-hard horror fans, have some ideas as to what we would like to see rebooted, revived, retooled, or resurrected for another turn in the spotlight. There are plenty of factors that play in to the viability of revamping or resurrecting a series. There are concerns of continuity, scheduling, the aging of the cast, and more. We are not proclaiming that a revival of each of these series is necessarily logical.

If you are already familiar with horror-comedy television series Todd And The Book Of Pure Evil then you are already familiar with one basic fact: After hitting a cliffhanger ending in Season Two the show was not renewed and that ending has never been resolved. If you are not already familiar with Todd And The Book Of Pure Evil then you are no doubt asking yourself, "How can I have possibly missed a show with such an awesome title and why aren't there more Todds on television?" Followed by "How can I catch up on such a thing and get to that aforementioned cliffhanger?" Sanctuary isn’t dead. That is what star and co-executive producer Amanda Tapping told me when I sat down with her last week as she was preparing to direct an episode of the upcoming Space series Primeval: New World.

“I don’t think that Sanctuary is dead. If you look really closely you can see the chest rising and falling and I’m standing by with the paddles,” she said, smiling.

Sadly, "Evil" shall not prevail.

Canadian TV channel Space has confirmed that it won't be renewing cult hit "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil" for a third season. The news comes as quite a shock, given the show's accolades from critics and fans alike. It was recently picked up in foreign markets like Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany, where fans were heard crying out "ingen!""nei!"and "kien!" upon hearing that their new favourite show won't be back.

The show's creator, Craig David Wallace, revealed the news last night at the Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Awards, where, ironically, he was being honoured for his work on "Todd." In a state of disbelief, we reached out to a Space rep who confirmed that yes, it is indeed true. Nooooo!

Todd and the Book of Pure Evil is a curious thing. It’s a Canadian horror-comedy television series about a small band of high-schoolers battling evil caused by a cursed book (a la The Evil Dead). Each episode follows a hapless teenager whom the book finds and then puts a curse upon. This of course is followed by paranormal activity and eventual bloodshed. It is then up to stoner Todd and his friends to find the book and conquer the evil it unleashes. Season one is now out on DVD and you might want to check this cool show out.

Award-winning fantasy series Todd And The Book of Pure Evil is set to finally make it’s UK debut on Tuesday March 6th on Syfy after a successful two-year run on Canadian television. One of the series’ key cast members is a Mr. Jason Mewes, who plays the Mr Miyagi-like Jimmy the janitor (pictured below) on the show – although no doubt many of you will recognise him the hetero life-partner of one Silent Bob in the movies of Kevin Smith…

2011 was a pretty big year for the TV world in general. Oprah said farewell to her beloved daytime chatfest. Regis bid adieu to mornings with Kelly and Gelman. And Kim Kardashian broadcast her "fairytale" wedding for all the world to bask in. Here in Canada, we had some pretty memorable small screen moments of our own.

Perhaps most notably, our Canuck quest for global TV domination continued to gain momentum with homegrown shows like "Rookie Blue,""Todd and the Book of Pure Evil,""Lost Girl" and "Republic of Doyle" steadily growing their international audiences around the world (and we also reinforced the global stereotype that Canadians are an attractive bunch, with the likes of Anna Silk, Missy Peregrym and Allan Hawco representing us on the world stage).

Since it’s that time of year (yes, list time), we've compiled a list of the top 11 most memorable moments in Canadian TV this year.

Just last month, we brought you the news when Russell Crowe (The Man with the Iron Fists) who portrays Jor-El, the biological father of Clark Kent/Superman (Henry Cavill) in the forthcoming Zack Snyder directed, Man of Steel revealed that Jor-El would be battling General Zod (Michael Shannon) on Krypton in the hotly anticipated reboot.

Now, it appears they won’t be alone. In a recent interview on the Canadian channel, Space, actor Julian Richings revealed that he too will be acting on Krypton alongside Michael Shannon and Russell Crowe. Richings couldn’t reveal much more than that to the hosts of Innerspace, though he does say that the scenes he filmed over the course of a week in Vancouver were done opposite Crowe and Shannon in a place the size of a hockey arena that was one giant green screen.

"Todd and the Book of Pure Evil" is back for a second season, and it will be making its run on Space! the Imagination Station on Sunday nights, 7pm Pst / 10pm Est, and episodes are slated to stream online weeks later. In the States, FEARNet has confirmed that season two will air March 2012, and continue to be part of Tuesdays "Twisted Comedy" hour.

The newest episode, "Redirement Home," aired October 30th, and the tale picks up from where season one's final episode last left off: with Atticus Murphy Jr. (Chris Leavins) now trying to figure out how to open the book, and Todd (Chris House) and his gang contemplating their next move. When audiences last left "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil," Atticus had a hissy spat with his father and before audiences could blink, he throws the best comedic-style line in cliffhanger history, "Geez, I wonder what's going to happen next?"

Audiences will find out October 23, as Space, The Imagination Station continues the adventures of Todd, Curtis, Hannah and Jenny. In the meantime, FEARnet and the Comedy Network has been reairing season one, which should cumulate to the second season's premiere in the States. Hopefully this time, there will not be a year long wait.

"Todd and the Book of Pure Evil" premiered to Canadian audiences first in 2010, and over the summer State-side networks acquired the rights to rebroadcast it in the States. Todd and his gang of friends are reacquiring the book, which grants its owner a wish in Evil Dead fashion. It is going to get even more interesting in season two.

FEARnet's Twisted Comedy Hour is set to premiere Tues, August 2nd, and this broadcast could not be any better. Todd and the Book of Pure Evil will be supplemented with similar kinds of extras and editorial content that was featured during its Canadian run, on Space: The Imagination Station and Psychoville will have bonus show material to bring over new fans.

Both products premiered in the past year(s) in its native country to a great fan reception. They have even garnered nods in industry magazines like Fangoria and Rue Morgue. Psychoville also earned the prestigious British Comedy Award. Just when Tues evenings may begin to look boring, horror-comedy hopes to liven things up.

The summer is ablaze with FearNet's American rebroadcast of "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil." Slated for Aug 2nd, at 10pm (Est). This specialty station will be picking up where the Comedy Network left off with their scheduling. The Comedy Network's broadcast began June 5th, with two back-to-back episodes. With American attention now on this Canadian production, prospects for a second season are looking very good.
