If you love malayalam movies and if you are looking for something different, Gaganachari is a must watch.
In my opinion Gaganachari could be seen as South Park special fused with Rick and Morty theme. What that entails is a movie with over-the-top satire, pop-culture references and layered societal commentary. The movie is a testament to director's (Arun Chandu) vision and execution as the movie makes use of GenAI skillfully to remain within the constraints of a tight budget. Hats off to the producer (Ajith Vinayaka) for taking the risk to produce such an experimental movie (SciFi, Alien, Sattire, 4:3) knowing well this will mostly fail. This is precisely we should encourage such content as it is bold, fresh and sets a precedent. If such advents do not get any recognition, we will be stuck in the past. The movie is certainly not for everyone but underneath the main plot the movie offers depth and ton of Easter eggs. The movie is ahead of it's time and is sure to have a cult following just like Devadhoothan Churuli, BigB, etc. Special mention to Meraki, Bava and Sankar Sharma. Hats off and I cannot wait to see your next product.

This is the first ever full fledged sci-fi mockumentary ever in Malayalam and been hearing about this film since it got featured on so many international film festivals and I can tell you this one was genuinely worth it. You've got to have an open perspective considering the budget of this movie. If you can get your head around the low budget CGI shots you won't feel anything odd about this genre debut from Arun Chandu.
The cast seems to be pretty perfect for this type of story telling. The background scores are pretty captivating however I could sense the resemblance to a lil bit of daft punk and old mohanlal movies here n there.
The script and character enactment are all solid , as a whole the director , cast n crew have managed to pull a good one here. I would definitely recommend this movie to any malayali who likes sci-fi/fantasy.

Initially, I approached "Gaganachari" with skepticism, but the film pleasantly proved me wrong. This alien Sci-Fi thriller emerged as one of the best in Malayalam cinema, captivating me with its engaging narrative and impressive execution.
With a unique blend of intrigue, suspense, and emotional depth, "Gaganachari" successfully explores the complexities of human relationships amidst an extraterrestrial backdrop. The film's well-crafted storyline, paired with impressive visuals and convincing performances, makes for an immersive viewing experience.
Overall, "Gaganachari" is a hidden gem in Malayalam Sci-Fi, defying expectations and delivering a thrilling ride. If you're a fan of the genre, this film is definitely worth watching.

Set in Dystopian Future in Kerala ,this Alien pic is Amusing , focused more on Satire and Comic moments to enjoy !
Casting is really worked here , a Different AND impactful role for Ganesh Kumar and Aju Varghese is cool and Gokul Suresh steal the show for me and anarkali marikar is perfect as eliyamma aka alien !
Scripting by arun chandu is Innovative and Experimental ! And background score and all other technical department are in Top Quality !
VFX ARE TOP Notch and deserves Appreciation !
This kind of movies too needed our Attention and support ,if you want see something Different ,Cool ,Funny and Creative ,Go for this one !
My rating 8.8.

Gaganachari scores high in how it treats its familiar (yet experimental, for Malayalam) plot, garnished with a heavy dose of pop culture references, making it palatable for both 90s and 2000s kids. The sci-fi mockumentary packaging, which I only remember from a recent Krishand film, looks and feels fresh. The humor flows organically, even when a few writing misses occur in the second hour. The cast is terrific-each fitting their respective roles to the T. Gokul Suresh is surprisingly good as the lovestruck loser Allan, and so is Anarkali Marikkar as Alieyamma. Ganesh Kumar and Aju Varghese bring in the laughs with their one-liners, making even generic events like dinner, sleep, and meditation look entertaining.
There is overuse of AI but it's understandable given what the makers were trying to achieve here. Ultimately, what we see and hear on screen, looks incredibly believable for its given budget, and that's what should matter at the end of the day. The socio-political subtext is also played for laughs, and I particularly enjoyed the writing (and visual) choice of painting Kerala in a greenish excess, as opposed to the typical dystopian desert shades. Sankar Sharma's music also adds zing to the proceedings. I'm unsure if the sequel (or is it a spinoff?) holds the same level of potential given it'll be a star-led vehicle, but we'll just have to wait and see. Good work, Arun Chandu!

What an exhilarating journey from start to finish! The craftsmanship in the costumes and props was exceptional, transforming the film into what felt like a live science exhibition where everything appeared handmade.
One of the standout aspects of the movie is the clever and witty dialogue, peppered with fun references that enhance the overall experience. The depiction of post-apocalyptic Kochi, brought to life using MidJourney and other AI tools, was particularly impressive. Kudos to the director for actualizing this vision; considering his previous works like "Saajan Bakery" and "Saayana Varthakal," it's a remarkable achievement. The music, cinematography, and editing all combined to evoke the famous three-headed dragon meme.
Ganesh Kumar delivered an outstanding performance, showcasing a comedic side that was a delight to watch. Gokul Suresh's portrayal of Alan, a character brimming with useless film knowledge, added another layer of humor. Anarkali was simply captivating, while Aju portrayed yet another classic 'thendi' character with finesse.
The film excels in its mockumentary style, filled with goofy gags and amusing references, making a significant step towards sci-fi. It's definitely worth the investment of time, money, and effort to watch it. If it weren't for a few slow moments, this could have easily been my favorite film of the year.

To be honest, I really liked it. It's got good graphics, not so good story (but still watchable) and the whole story-line just makes me keep watching. And one more thing - this is not for a typical Malayalam movie "REVIEWER". The whole concept of post apocalyptic tale and subtle puns against the current/near future political agendas are good.
One thing I got to mention is the VFX. Sure most of the images and animations are questionable (I know about the existence Midjourney and blender). But it was good by the choice.
I really hope there will be a second part. Will there be a second part to this?

A very good attempt at a proper sci-fi satire rooted in Kerala. The dystopian United States of Kerala with the overgrown vegetation over the buildings was set up pretty nicely. All the Malayalam pop culture references were so fun to watch, and the updates given to some were definitely the most laugh-out-loud moments. Gokul Suresh's dialogues referencing his father were also really great. But it meant that this was primarily for the 90s kids. If the comedic aspect of Gokul Suresh's character was reduced, I would've painfully felt like relating to that character, but I don't want to that much, lol. The use of traditional murals to playfully convey some ideas and the ending twist etc made its satiric approach work really great. The insistence on rituals and their powers at that point, the lies, the murals etc can be read together as why our society is like this today. The visual effects were great for what it is, but the extensive use of AI images is a turn-off for me. Even in music, there was a very derivative quality to it that I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be references or not.

An unprecedented experience in the Malayalam film industry. Gaganachari is a futuristic experimental product. Creativity on a peak level. Change is here. The crew behind the screen had done beyond meritorious work especially the art team. And the cast cannot be left unspoken. Performance by Gokul, Anarkali and moreover Ganesh sir was promising than before. Aju Varghese has done it again. The soothing background score gets you immersed into the vibe. An admirable movie, still not so acceptable by all of the audience. A heartfelt appreciation for the brave efforts. Longing for more from the team.

It had a solid run in theatres and made some good noise in film circuits. Strangely, it slipped onto OTT without much noise. Yet, it was inevitable that I'd miss it once it was available on OTT.
This is a science fiction story set in the 2040s, focused on three bachelors living in a building while the rest of the world is in shambles. A female alien comes to stay with them, making their lives even more complicated.
It's unlike any science fiction you may have seen so far. The movie doesn't take itself seriously, yet it portrays a world transformed by humanity's exploitation of nature, grounding its absurdity with a sense of real-world consequences. It takes a while to understand what's happening on screen, as the plot unfolds through gags within a dystopian setup.
Ganesh Kumar is seen in a never-before avatar, and he absolutely nails it. Gokul Suresh is decent in parts, though he overacts in multiple sequences. Aju Varghese handles his role well, while Anarkali Marikar as Alien maintains a poker face throughout as the character demands, which she does effectively. John Kaippali, in a limited role, adds beautifully to the chaos.
This is an experimental movie, and it should be viewed with that lens. The cinematography cleverly captures the tone, and with just the right amount of graphics, the movie is made surprisingly believable. The usage of real life anecdotes or materialistic things in futuristic setup was interesting. However, the runtime feels a bit lengthy, and trimming it could have helped create a crisper narrative. The comedy works in the film's favor, and the song during the end credits-a rap-adds an interesting touch.
Once again, Malayalam cinema tries something new and does it well. With a low budget, they've managed to churn out a decent film. Watch it for a different experience, with logic set slightly aside.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. The visuals looked so cool and I loved the ida of a malyalm movei having aliens in it but the movie was so bad. It made no sense, was corny, and wasn't even funny to me.
They tried to be more modern and funny but it was just cringe, and the alien character is so cliche.
I wasn't even entertained because they did a terrible job explaining the lore, and the humour did NOT work for me, and they didn't even lean into the alien-genre with action or thrill or anything.
Very fresh tho ngl but fresh trash.
Different from other malayalam movies, I'll give it that but still tras.

For someone like me who watches movies to escape the real world, 'Gaganachari' was an ideal experience. This film delivered a perfect escape with its blend of likable characters and familiar settings. Filled with a ton of Malayalam pop culture references, the AI-infused world of 'Gaganachari' offered a delightful getaway from reality. When I spend money to watch a movie, this is exactly what I hope for. The characters were endearing and relatable, making it easy to get invested in their journey. The story, although set in a familiar backdrop, was infused with enough unique elements to keep it fresh and engaging. The references to Malayalam pop culture added a layer of enjoyment, making the experience feel personal and nostalgic. As someone who enjoys movies that offer both entertainment and a break from reality, 'Gaganachari' hit all the right notes. It's the kind of movie that makes the price of ticket feel worth every penny.

Gaganachari
A bold attempt by Arun Chandu that takes the audience to the terrains and times unexplored.
The plot of the story is about a army emeritus and his two acquaintances who does a secluded and bizarre life. What happens in their anomalous life when an ET human joins them and the weird situations they come across forms the storyline.
The story moves in a hilarious trail loses momentum a little by the mid of first half but later gets back to the trail with a bang.
Director has attempted to connect human emotions with the emotions of Non humans and have made sarcastic moments and healthy criticisms throughout the movie.
A disparate attempt from Ganesh Kumar with his humour timings and mannerisms. Good performances by Anarkali,Gokul & Aju.
Applause to the director and the entire crew for bringing an intriguing and innovative concept to screen with few casts.👍
A funny out of the box movie experience.
Rating - 3.25/5.

A fair attempt is made to portray the idea of an apocalypse in Malayalam as a comedy, drawing inspiration from science fiction films in Hollywood. Anyway, it's entertaining to watch Ganesh Kumar's great acting. Aju Varghese has not changed. Gokul Suresh has demonstrated his lack of acting skills. Additionally, because the character had no dialogue and nothing to do, Anarkali didn't create a major problem. Furthermore, in these kinds of sarcastic movies, there's really nothing to look at. You may classify the Malayalam version as an experimental movie. But all of this in Hollywood was over when technology emerged. These kinds of trials are carried out in Malayalam while the hollywood filmmakers are deciding what kind of film they want to make next. Either way, the most of the movie Gaganachari must be acknowledged as a green- screen film.
The surreal mix of post-apocalyptic dystopia and absurd comedy might feel overwhelming for some, but it's also what makes this film memorable.
Can't think of any other mollywood flick that makes use of such multi-genre possibilities.
Bleakness of a post-apocalyptic world meets the light-heartedness of satire and mockumentary, creating a film that's as unpredictable as it is unsettlingly hilarious.
It's both absurdly entertaining and uncannily insightful, offering viewers a chance to lose themselves in a world that is as bizarre as it is reflective of our own.
It's a landmark movie in Malayalam for sure and is going to be discussed and analysed in future.

The film is good. The story is all over the place but still very fun to watch.
But the usage of AI for a lot of its visuals give midjourney vibes. AI causes a lot of Inconsistency in visuals which kind of ruin some parts for me. Hopefully the team behind the movie gets bigger budget on their next projects so they can use proper cgi.

A big step for sci-fi movies in the Malayalam film industry.
Without any doubt, we can say it's a must-watch movie for sci-fi lovers, but it's not preferable for people who like drama, romance, realistic themes, or action. Hats off to the producers and director for this experiment in the Malayalam film industry. I think it will be an inspiration to others. This movie has many drawbacks (if we compare this movie this hollywood), but considering the budget, all the negative points are negligible . I believe if this director gets a larger budget, he can create a world-class movie from the Malayalam industry, and also the performances of Ganesh Kumar, Gokul Suresh, Anarkali, and Aju Varghese were noteworthy and added significant value to the movie.

The execution of such a concept within a low budget is something to be appreciated about. The narrative is both clever and impactful, blending humor with a meaningful exploration of current political and global issues, all within the Kerala setting. The comedy is refreshing and feels organic compared to the cliched tropes seen nowadays.
The worldbuilding and the mythology were brilliantly constructed, seamlessly explained without feeling derived of other sci-fi franchises. Though a few CGI and AI shots were found lacking, they're forgivable given the budget constraints and is easily overshadowed by the immersive narration within the cultural context and the performances of the cast
This shows what many hoped to see in Kalki which was a blatant mess of the Hindu mythology, cliched comedy tropes and derivations of other sci-fi franchises.

Mollywood is known for its incredible movies, and let me tell you, this film is so different from the typical Malayalam films you might have seen! From the visuals to the overall vibe, everything is just so enjoyable. Even though this movie lacks a traditional story, I believe it was intentionally made that way. The only thing I didn't like much was the dubbing-the lip-syncing wasn't perfect. Other than that, everything is spot-on, and this easily ranks as one of my favorite movies of all time.
The plot is refreshingly unique; it's called a mockumentary and serves as a sci-fi satire about an alien who, with the help of three people, finally returns to her world. I would definitely recommend watching this film!
AND ANARKALI MARAKAR IS SUCH A W.
