In 2025, a time when we have dozens of new anime shows every couple of months and enough fans with different tastes that it takes a lot of effort for a single show to become a viral phenomenon, it's easy to forget just how big of a cultural movement "Pokémon" was.
Based on the already hugely popular video game property of the same name, Studio Olm's "Pokémon" anime was an instant success not only in Japan but abroad too. It kickstarted Pokémania and became a global phenomenon, making fans out of millions of kids and paving the way for a wave of anime titles aimed at kids like "Digimon."
The original iteration of the anime follows Ash Ketchum, a kid who — when he turns 10 — ventures out into the wilderness on a journey to catch every single Pokémon and become a Pokémon master. That's right, a 10-year-old lives alone in the wild with no money,...

Streaming the entire Pokémon anime series is challenging due to rights and licensing issues, with portions available on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Pokémon TV. Netflix is the home for new Pokémon episodes and also offers the original series, recent seasons, a special miniseries, and two movies. Hulu hosts the sixth generation series Pokémon Xy and its related parts, but important specials are missing. Amazon Prime has a mix of seasons available for free or purchase, and Pokémon TV offers free streaming with no ads and rotating series.
Streaming has made it pretty easy to watch anime these days, but the Pokémon anime is an unfortunate exception to this rule. Due to a complicated mess of rights and licensing, the Pokémon anime is currently scattered across several different streaming services, making it difficult to watch the entire series, and some series aren't streaming at all at present.

After years of silence on the project, the Ark: The Animated Series trailer has arrived, revealing the first proper look at Netflix's latest video game adaptation. The series will be based on the Studio Wildcard game of the same name, with game creators Jeremy Stieglitz and Jesse Rapczak having developed the show, while Marguerite Bennett, best known for her wok on the Josie and the Pussycats and A-Force comics, is writing with Kendall Deacon Davis. Ark: The Animated Series was first revealed to be in the works in late 2020, having shown a trailer during the Video Game Awards, but outside of its star-studded cast, not much was known about the series until now.
Just in time for the holidays, the official Ark: The Animated Series trailer has premiered, giving a deeper look at Netflix's upcoming video game adaptation. The video reveals that the story will center on Helena Walker,...

After almost three absurdly long years, “Stranger Things” Season 4 is just around the corner. A tentpole series for Netflix — at a whopping production cost of reportedly 30 million per episode — the fan-favorite sci-fi show that launched its young adult cast, led by Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard, into superstardom will be dropping new episodes May 27.
And, according to the Emmy-winning series’ executive producer Shawn Levy, it’s going to be “harrowing,” “cinematic” and “epic.” He told TheWrap in a recent interview, “This is so much more story and runtime than ever before, not by a little. By a lot.”
The last month of spring will also see the return of reality series titles like “The Circle” — a social media-driven competition series where players catfish, befriend and flirt with each other with the aim of winning a grand cash prize — and “Bling Empire” — which centers on a group of uber-wealthy Asian American friends in Beverly Hills.

Netflix is ringing in the new year in atypical fashion. Throughout 2021, the streaming giant’s original offerings swelled while its library titles shrunk. With its list of new releases for January 2022, however, Netflix is expanding its non-original market quite a bit.
Jan. 1 sees the arrival of a truly stunning amount of impressive non-Netflix movies and TV shows. The big titles available on the first of the month include: 300, Interview with the Vampire, Paranormal Activity, Superman Returns, Terminator 2, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and much more. Later on in the month, Netflix is also set to add Phantom Thread (Jan. 16) to its roster.
