Netflix is teaming with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment for an untitled series that will mark his son Aryan Khan’s directorial debut. The series was unveiled at the streamer’s International Showcase on Monday.

“Set against the backdrop of the film industry, this multi-genre project promises an audacious, unabashed, entertaining ride through the adventures of a charming, ambitious outsider navigating the glitzy yet tricky world of Bollywood,” according to a description provided by Netflix. “The series blends a high-stakes narrative with self-aware humor, featuring blockbuster cameos and larger-than-life characters for an unforgettable, tongue-in-cheek take on Indian cinema.”

New Delhi, Aug 18 (Ians) Reliance Jio on Friday announced the launch of Jio prepaid plans with a bundled Netflix subscription.

A Netflix subscription is already available on select Jio Postpaid and Jio Fiber plans, but this is the first time that a Netflix subscription will be available on a prepaid plan, the company said.

A Netflix mobile-only plan will come bundled with Jio’s Rs 1,099 plan, whereas a Rs 1,499 plan will give subscribers access to Netflix Basic. Both plans have a validity of 84 days.

With this launch, over 400 million Jio prepaid customers will get the option of availing a Netflix subscription through a Jio Prepaid bundled plan.

Netflix has revealed a multi-year series partnership with Indian filmmaker Hansal Mehta.

Mehta’s hard hitting crime drama series “Scoop,” his maiden venture for Netflix, bowed earlier this month and was a major success for the service. Inspired by crime reporter Jigna Vora’s book “Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison” and starring Karishma Tanna as crime reporter Jagruti Pathak, the series is set up as the first season of a franchise.

Taking this successful collaboration forward, Mehra will create multiple series for Netflix over the next few years.

Mehta’s film credits include “Shahid” which bowed at Toronto and won him best director at India’s National Film Awards; “Aligarh” (2015) that debuted at Busan and won at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards; and “Faraaz” (2022) that premiered at the BFI London Film Festival. “A healthy streaming business, according to us, has to be built on the strong fundamentals of engagement, where we are doing very well, and revenue and profit as a global service. We are a profitable service – in many of our markets, we are on the path to profitability,” Shergill told Variety.

The news emerged the same day that Netflix announced a 1.75 million jump in subscriptions worldwide.

The action thriller that stars Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati trended on the No.1 spot as the most watched series in India for three consecutive weeks after launch last month and continues to be in the top 10 series in India for the fifth week in a row. It trended in Netflix’s global top 10 for non-English TV for two weeks after it launched on March 10.

Mumbai, March 2 (Ians) Actor Rana Daggubati, who is gearing up for his streaming series ‘Rana Naidu’, has shared that while working on the series, he and his uncle Venkatesh Daggubati, who portrays his on-screen father, explored a different dynamic to their relationship.

The actor explained: “I usually play characters that are either good or bad, but Rana is a mix of both. He lives a dark life but also works hard to support his family. Besides the name, I don’t have much in common with him. Rana in the show has a complex past and deals with anger in an extreme way. It was challenging for me because I’m usually a chill person.”
