Exclusive: Filmmaker Peter Hastings has signed with Independent Artist Group for representation.

The news comes following the January release of Hastings’ hit animated feature Dog Man, based on the bestselling book series by Dav Pilkey, which opened at #1 at the North American box office and has so far grossed over $105 million globally.

Hailing from DreamWorks Animation and Universal, Dog Man follows a half-dog, half-human police officer as he doggedly pursues the feline supervillain Petey the Cat. Hastings directed from his own script, with Pete Davidson, Poppy Liu, Lil Rel Howery, and Isla Fisher leading the cast.

Paramount has decided not to wait until spring to get a little spring cleaning done. Specifically, the company has undertaken a new round of content removals from its streamer Paramount+, and like previous culls this batch of pulled titles is heavily affecting kids and families. It’s all in the name of lowering backend streaming costs, but that’s of little comfort to customers who might be seeing their favorite titles removed.

Key Details: Arguably the most well-known title removed from Paramount+ is the 1990s cartoon “Doug.” Movies from the “Kung Fu Panda” and “Madagascar” franchise have also been pulled. December has seen Doug being taken off the streamer. The animated series premiered in 1991 on Nickelodeon and ran for four seasons. Doug was one of the earliest titles of the “Nicktoons” in the 1990s, which would later include shows like Rugrats, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh!! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold! and more.

Other titles purged from Paramount+ include My Life As A Teenage Robot and shows based on DreamWorks Animation films like Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and The Penguins of Madagascar.

We've seen manic dino mania on Isla Nublar in Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, but it turns out there's plenty of prehistoric peril to be found on the other side of the island, as evidenced by the new trailer for the animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, which returns for its second season on Netflix beginning January 22nd.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows a group of six teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar. But when dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island, the campers are stranded. Unable to reach the outside world, they’ll need to go from strangers to friends to family if they’re going to survive. To some movie industry forecasters, CGI neon trolls that love to hug and sing are also, quite possibly, harbingers of the end of the modern theater experience. Trolls: World Tour was supposed to be a simple sequel to the 2013 DreamWorks original, based on the toy line popularized in the early 1960s. The movie follows the continuing adventures of Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake), two trolls from the Pop music tribe who discover that there are other troll races — Funk, Classical, Techno, Country, and Rock — living in their world.

India and Singapore-based animation outfit Cosmos-Maya is driving into the animated feature arena with “Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds,” an adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel “The Three Musketeers.”

A co-production with Spain’s Apolo Films, “Dogtanian” is an iconic television property that was first aired on Mbs in Japan in 1981, Television Espanola in 1982 and the BBC in 1985. There have been several iterations of the show since, and some 40 years on, it is still airing in more than 100 territories.

Emmy and Annie nominee Doug Langdale (“Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness”) is writing the film script, based on the original written by Claudio Biern Boyd, who is President of Apolo Films. Toni Garcia (“Invizimals”) is set to direct.

Additionally, the company has promoted Chris Waters to Head of Animation Development.

Hulu has struck a new agreement with Viacom for library content covering several hundred TV episodes and movies, including exclusive streaming access to the full run of MTV’s animated sitcom “Daria.”

Under the new agreement with Viacom, Hulu is now the exclusive subscription-streaming home to all five seasons of “Daria,” originally a spinoff of “Beavis and Butt-Head” which MTV has announced plans to bring back in a new iteration. Previously, “Daria” was available on Amazon Prime Video.

Other exclusive shows coming to Hulu under the deal are Comedy Central’s “Nathan for You,” MTV’s “My Super Sweet 16” and Bet’s “The New Edition Story.”

In addition, the deal brings 11 series from Nickelodeon and more than 20 films to Hulu. Viacom-owned titles now available to stream on Hulu include “Big Time Rush,” “School of Rock,” “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn,” “Hunter Street,” “Make It Pop,” “Every Witch Way” and “Wits Academy.

Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television are set to release six new original series in 2018 beginning with Trolls: The Beat Goes On! premiering Jan. 19, 2018, exclusively on Netflix. The new slate includes series inspired by DreamWorks’ beloved animated films as well as classic properties including an all-new She-Ra. From executive producer Noelle Stevenson, the new She-Ra series will present a modern take on the ‘80s girl power icon for a new generation of young fans.

As if Netflix wasn’t taking over the world already, they are now teaming up with DreamWorks Animation Television with a view to entering the New Year with a bang and six new original TV series including the return of She-Ra: Princess of Power.

Three of the new series come off the back of their big screen debuts from 2017 with the likes of Trolls, The Boss Baby and Captain Underpants all getting the animated TV treatment and the much loved 80’s cartoon, She-Ra, who is the twin sister to He-Man, will be getting a revival as well. Trolls: The Beat Goes on! will be first off the block on January 19th, 2018. The premiere dates for the rest of the line-up are yet to be confirmed.

I hope that the series turns out to be good. I think it's something that my girls are going to love. I'm sure most of you are familiar with She-Ra, but if not, she is also known as Princess Adora and is the twin sister of Prince Adam a.k.a. He-Man. She was kidnapped as a baby by the Horde's leader Hordak. She is eventually given the Sword of Protection, which parallels He-Man's Sword of Power, gaining the power to transform into She-Ra.

Following yesterday's first look photos, the first official trailer and poster for the animated film The Book of Life from producer Guillermo del Toro have arrived. The story follows the journey of Manolo (Diego Luna), an aspiring musician struggling with pleasing his family and winning over the love of his life (Zoe Saldana). There's some truly stunning animation on display here, like a mix of the world of Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas, but in the style of the Day of the Dead celebration. Though the next film from Guillermo del Toro as a director is Crimson Peak, and that's not arriving until 2015, we'll still get a project that will have a special touch from the revered filmmaker. The Book of Life is a new animated film from Fox Animation coming this fall, and while we've seen some concept art from the project directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez, the first official stills have arrived, showing off a unique animation style. The male characters look a bit like boxy marionettes, which is a bit weird, and I can't decide if I really like it or not.
