Director Bhaskar made his debut with the film Bommarilu way back in 2006 and it went on to become a big hit earning him instant fame and fortune.
Unfortunately, the next set of films, Parugu, Orange, Ongole Gitta and Bangalore Natkal turned out to be box office duds which were a major setback for him. Following this, not too many offers came his way and projects that he was to do with Karthi and Venkatesh were put in the backburner.

Various Nigerian press outlets and journalists (via Twitter) are reporting that Biyi Bandele's "Half Of A Yellow Sun" - a film adaptation of celebrated author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Orange Prize-winning novel of the same name - has finally been cleared by the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board, for local release. The announcement didn't include a date that the film will eventually be released now that it's been approved for release. According to the Board’s Corporate Affairs representative, Caesar Kagho, the film has been approved with an "18" rating, which, based on my research, is the equivalent of an "R" rating here...

The upcoming season of Arrested Development will feature 14 episodes that each tell their own story. Each one will have elements that connect to each other, eventually giving a bigger picture when the whole season has been watched. As Alyssa Rosenberg of Think Progress notes, that makes it the first TV show that can be watched in any order, making it a show that can be watched in a nonlinear fashion, something that could only be achieved on a streaming service like Netflix.
Apparently, ABC chief Paul Lee was so enthusiastic about Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot when talking to reporters at the TCA that its difficult to imagine it not making the fall schedule.

It is normal for movies, like everything, to feel overly familiar after a while. In fact, it is an issue that has existed even in the early origins of storytelling and literature. Sci-Fi as a genre borrows from a wide spectrum of source material and is one that can easily feel clichéd, and a lot of what we so often enjoy on the silver screen has been done in some way before. Some of the biggest Sci-Fi movies are, in many ways, a shameless rip off of a previous movie. This can be with movie’s use of location, it’s style or indeed the entire plot.

For moviegoers growing up in the last 20-30 years, big is the new normal. I’m talking about those big-budget, over-produced, effects/action-packed extravaganzas that are as expected and routine an arrival as a commuter bus, and never more so than during the summer months. Come a rise in temperatures, there’s an almost ceaseless parade of these megabuck behemoths through multiplexes starting in May and continuing until the kids go back to school, one rolling out almost every week.
Consider these May-August releases and their eye-popping price tags:
5/4: Marvel’s The Avengers — $220 million
5/11: Dark Shadows — $150 million
5/18: Battleship — $209 million
5/25: Men in Black 3 — $250 million
6/8: Prometheus — $120-130 million
7/3: The Amazing Spider-Man — $220 million
7/20: The Dark Knight Rises — $250 million
7/31: Total Recall — $200 million
8/5: The Expendables 2 — $100 million

IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that Prometheus, director Ridley Scott's original mythology that tips its hat to elements of the original Alien, will release in the immersive IMAX 3D format in 421 IMAX theatres worldwide. Domestically, the film will be released in 298 theaters beginning Friday, June 8, simultaneous with the film's North American release. Internationally, the film debuted in select territories last week and will be expanding to additional theatres through the coming weeks for a total of 123 theatres confirmed to date. Additional playdates will be added as pending bookings are confirmed.
Exclusively in IMAX, Prometheus will feature a larger aspect ratio of 2.0:1 versus the traditional 2.39:1 ratio. This aspect ratio, which is optimized to take advantage of the IMAX screen, will allow audiences to see more of the image and result in a full panorama of the action - further immersing audiences into the vast scale and scope of the film.

Because you are surely not aware at this point, a very popular movie called The Hunger Games (which is based on a very popular book called The Hunger Games) will be available for your consumption at midnight. But you already know that (and likely have tickets). Because of this monumental occasion, CinemaBlend's Katey Rich (a die hard Hunger Games fan); Indiewire's Matt Singer (a Hunger Games curmudgeon) and myself (falling somewhere in between of those two) decided an obsessive chat about The Hunger Games was in order. (Minor spoilers, ahoy!) Matt: To set the mood I'm eating a sandwich.
Katey: I am so hungry already.
Mike: I just ate a Berry Bar from Prêt A Manger.
Katey: That is not food you're likely to find in the Games, Mike!
Matt: Panem backwards is Me nap. Just Fyi.
Mike: Is that what you did during the screening?
Katey: Yeah, that sounds...

Vulture brings news that Darren Aronofsky, after backing out of The Wolverine, is now eyeing a new project called Human Nature. The fifteen-year-old original spec script from Jeff Welch tells of a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species. George Clooney has attached himself for the lead role. Warner Bros.-based Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend) is currently budgeting the project, but given Clooney's attachment and the Warner's possible involvement, it sounds like the film could be a larger production than we're accustomed to seeing from Aronofsky. I suppose that was bound to happen after the breakthrough success of Black Swan. Human Nature could be his next project if things progress as planned, though I have no idea what that means for his other proposed projects (Machine Men, Jackie and The Tiger). Stay tuned.

With Iifa awards commencing recently in Sri Lanka, the Tamil speaking community has been enraged with those Bollywood and other film industry’s personalities, who have been taking part. Heeding to the requests of Tamil film producers council, many film actors and technicians backed off from taking part in this occasion.
During the while, buzzes were that Genelia D’Souza has taken part in this occasion and Producers Council is going to ban her in future. Soon after coming across such news, she instantaneously called up for the clarification saying that is there any proof of her being a part in this awards ceremony.

For past two months, Dharani has been making high time news for directing the hottest pair in Tollywood – Ram Charan Teja and Kajal Agarwal. They together had made a brilliant show in ‘Magadheera’, which is now getting dubbed in Tamil as ‘Mannathi Mannan’.
Dharani’s project was put on hold as Ram Charan Teja hadn’t completed shooting for his upcoming film ‘Orange’. This film is directed by Bommarilu Bhaskar and features Genelia D’Souza in female lead.
The movie launch of Dharani’s untitled project was held on May 1 and now the shooting moving on full pace. Director Bharathan of ‘Azhagiya Tamizh Magan’ fame is penning dialogues for this Telugu version.
If dubbed version of ‘Magadheera’ turns to be a big hit, then there are chances for even this flick to be dubbed in Tamil.

All throughout his directorial career, his cameraman Gopinath and music director Vidhyasagar had kept accompanying with the success. But his last couple of films including Telugu movie ‘Bangaram’ and ‘Kuruvi’ turned to be a terrific flop.
Out of sentiments, Dharani has decided to get away from the usual technicians and has joined hands with new technical team. The hearts of many a young woman stopped with the news that Shruti Hassan and Siddharth may be an item. The pair, who have recently teamed up for a movie, have been seen enjoying the highlights of town together. "Shruti and Siddharth have been spotted together many times," says a source, "They look very comfortable with each other. Sid and Shruti have had many lunch and dinner meetings and even been arriving at parties to dance the night away."
Shruti recently sat on a panel at the Ficci Frames 2009 Media & Entertainment Business Conclave where she talked about her desire to balance two careers in music and film and why nothing could beat making music the old-fashioned way with instruments rather than Autotune. "While technology is great, and quite essential at times, we musn't forget the human element," she argues, "Nothing can beat the human voice or the warmth of a single musical instrument.
