Trent Chapman joins Seven Studios
Trent Chapman.

Former Seven Network executive producer Trent Chapman has rejoined the company as head of non-scripted development at Seven Studios.

Chapman, who reports to Andrew Backwell, Seven Studios director of production, non-scripted, takes over from Sonya Wilkes, now co-head of unscripted.

Until last month he was head of production and development at the Nine Network where he oversaw such shows as Travel Guides, Married At First Sight, This Time Next Year, The Hot Plate and 20 to One. According to Nine, his former role is not being filled.

Previously he spent three years at Endemol Shine Australia, initially as an executive producer and then as head of production and development.

From 2001-2012 he worked at Seven as an executive producer on productions including The Amazing Race Australia, The Mole, Beauty and the Geek Australia and World’s Strictest Parents.

Ratings year sees Seven win overall audience battle and Nine win key advertising demographics
Nine and Seven have shared the honours in the 2012 ratings year which officially came to an end at the weekend.

Nine won the year in the key advertising demographics of 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 while Seven won across total viewers.

Because of lower ratings over the summer and during easter, the networks agree to only officially do battle for 40 weeks of the year.

Seven won 30 of the 40 weeks in total people, leaving Nine to claim 10 weeks across the five city metro markets, according to consolidated data from OzTAM.

In 16-39, Nine beat Seven by 25 weeks to 13, with Ten winning two weeks. In 18-49 Nine beat Seven by 22 to 18 weeks. And in 25-54 Nine beat Seven 21 to 19 weeks. These figures include the Olympics.

Excluding the Olympics, Nine and Seven tied in the 25-54 demo.

Nine also claimed year-on-year audience growth of 3.3% in total people while Seven dropped 0.8% and Ten dropped 12.8%.

The Chaser’s Unbelievable Truth wins time slot in its second week
The Chaser’s The Unbelievable Truth won its time slot of 9.30pm in its second week on air.

The celebrity quiz show rated 520,000 and in 22nd spot for total viewers according to preliminary ratings from OzTam.

The show also won its time slot across all three key advertising demographics while placing fifth overall in 16-39, sixth overall in 18-49 and eighth in 25-54.

It saw only a slight drop from last week’s debut of 568,000 and 19th in total viewers last week.

In the battle for Breakfast, Nine’s Today registered a close win over Seven’s Sunrise. The Nine show rated 353,000 in 33rd spot for total viewers while Sunrise rated 348,000 and 34th in total viewers.

Today won in Sydney and Melbourne, but Sunrise won across Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Winning the night across all three demos was Seven’s Beauty and the Geek Australia and in total viewers was seventh overall.

TV Week Logies announce 2012 nominations
The nominations for the 2012 TV Week Logies were announced on Sunday, with long-running soap Home and Away and Nine.s Underbelly: Razor leading the pool with seven nominations each.

Home and Away, which has been on air since 1988, received its nominations in the public-voted categories. It is up against Offspring, Packed To The Rafters, Winners And Losers and Underbelly: Razor for most popular drama series.

Esther Anderson (who plays Charlie Buckton) is nominated for both the gold logie for most popular TV personality and the silver logie for most popular actress. Veteran Ray Meagher (aka Alf Stewart) will compete against stars from Wild Boys, Packed to the Rafters and Offspring for most popular actor, while Dan Ewing, Steve Peacocke and Demi Harman are nominated in the most popular new talent categories.

Cam, Reading win 'Beauty And The Geek'
Emma Cam and Jeremy Reading have been announced as the first winners of Beauty And The Geek Australia. The pair, who beat Lisa McMahon and Corin Storkey to win the reality TV show that sees 'beauties' paired up with 'geeks', said that appearing on the series had given them a confidence boost.
