Weakest Link (2021)

Trivia

Weakest Link

Edit
This series makes a number of changes to the gameplay from what was previously seen on The Weakest Link (2001):
  • The show begins with eight contestants instead of nine.
  • The first question in the first round is asked to the contestant at the far left from the host's point of view instead of the contestant whose name comes first alphabetically.
  • The prizes in the chain increase from round to round. The top prize, which can be banked when the team have correctly answered eight questions in a row (down from nine in the previous iteration) without banking along the way, ranges from $10,000 in round 1 to $100,000 in round 6, with the total maximum a team can win being $250,000 (up from $100,000 in the previous iteration).
  • The interrogation of the contestants' performance in the round now takes place before they reveal their votes, instead of after.
  • After the third-last contestant is eliminated, the two remaining contestants go straight to the head-to-head round.
  • When a contestant wants to safely lock the money the team have earned to that point, they have to press their buzzer after being named by the host in addition to saying "Bank".
  • Contestants cast their votes by selecting a contestant on their touch screen instead of writing their name down. They press their buzzer to reveal who they have voted for.
  • Some of the questions asked in each round are visual questions that require the contestant to look at their screen to see the picture that goes with it.
Many of these changes are similar to those introduced on the US reboot Weakest Link (2020).
The series was originally due to premiere on 4 May 2021, but a tight production schedule forced a three week delay.
