Hoping it would snow during the last exterior scene of the movie, the cast and crew filmed on schedule but it did not snow that morning. At lunch the snow began to fall and the cast and crew ran outside and re-shot the earlier scene, capturing the snow on film after all.
For Stanley's only scene of dialog, Derek Wayne Johnson chose not to prepare the character's speech pattern and did not rehearse, feeling any sort of preparation for the mentally challenged character would feel forced. Instead, Johnson thought to himself what Boo Radley from Du silence et des ombres... (1962) might have sounded like had he spoken in that film. The end result is Johnson's improvised interpretation.
