Exclusive: Natalie Martinez (The I-Land), Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker), Genesis Rodriguez (Man on the Ledge) and Keilani Arellanes (Euphoria) have joined Kiefer Sutherland and Boyd Holbrook in Quibi’s The Fugitive, a new take on the 1993 Harrison Ford film that was based on the 1960s TV series. The new project hails from Scorpion creator Nick Santora, Thunder Road Films, 3 Arts Entertainment and Warner Bros. TV.
Written by Santora, The Fugitive centers on Mike Russo (Holbrook), a blue-collar worker who just wants to make sure his wife and 10-year-old daughter are safe when a bomb rips through the Los Angeles subway train he’s riding on. But the faulty evidence on the ground and “tweet now, confirm later” journalism paint a nightmarish picture: it looks to all the world that Mike was responsible for the heinous act. Ryan Tedder has written songs for some of the most popular artists in the world: Beyoncé, Adele, Taylor Swift. Still, he’s never had an experience quite like the first time he hit the studio with Lil Nas X.
“He was holding a bunch of horse balloons that his label had given him to celebrate ‘Old Town Road,'” Tedder recalls. “As he was walking through the threshold of my studio, his phone dinged. It was Ron Perry [the head of Lil Nas X’s label, Columbia Records], saying, ‘Congrats, you are officially number one.’ He stopped, looked at his phone,...

A Russell T Davies TV project is always something to be excited about. From gifting us Queer as Folk to saving Doctor Who, he has given us a lot to be grateful for over the years. Hence why his various comeback series on Channel 4, E4 and online later this month are being greeted with such a sense of anticipation.
Cucumber, Banana and Tofu come 16 years after Davies shook up TV with Queer as Folk and his new shows look likely to be just as exciting, exploring the passions and pitfalls of 21st century gay life with a candid sense of humour.
But will it create as many stars as Davies's previous Channel 4 series? Here's what happened to the Queer As Folk stars after it ended in 2000.

Terrence Howard has been very vocal about his dismissal from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent years. After appearing in the original Iron Man, he was replaced by Don Cheadle for Iron Man 2. Apparently, he didn’t realize that the contract wasn’t “mutually binding” and that Marvel, despite making a multi-picture deal with him, still had the final say on whether they would bring him back or not.
For Iron Man 2, Howard was set to earn $8 million, which is a huge bump over the $4.5 million that he earned for the first one. Unfortunately for him though, Robert Downey Jr. got a bit greedy and took the money that was supposed to go to Howard.
“It turns out that the person that I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out,...

Charlie Hunnam: ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ gets its Christian Grey (photo: shirtless Charlie Hunnam in ‘Pacific Rim’) In the last couple of weeks, the world has been rocked by several revelations that have left earthlings — depending on their particular expectations, prejudices, and mental health — infuriated, terrified, shocked, thrilled. Am I referring to the reported chemical attacks in Syria and the Obama administration’s determination that the U.S. should get involved in that country’s bloody civil war? Syrius Chemical Civil War? Is Obama endorsing a new video game? Is it in 3D? Nope, that’s not what I’m talking about. Nor am I referring to the ivory trade and the relentless poaching of African elephants, which will quite possibly lead to their extinction in the very, very near future. Or to the nearly 1,000 manatees and dolphins that have met with slow and agonizing deaths in Florida’s grossly polluted waterways.

The search for the perfect “Fifty Shades of Grey” cast might just be called “Fifty Shades of Actors”—as the number of names bandied about for the roles keeps on growing.
The latest celebs being considered are Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam. Miss Johnson, who previously starred in the Fox-tv comedy “Ben & Kate,” is reportedly up for the lead role of Anastasia "Ana" Steele. Hunnam, of “Sons of Anarchy” fame, could become the elusive Christian Grey character.
Aside from being the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, Dakota has appeared in films like “Engagement” and “21 Jump Street.” Hunnam’s movie roles include “Pacific Rim,” “Deadfall,” and “The Ledge.” He also starred in the acclaimed but short-lived Judd Apatow series, “Undeclared.”
“Fifty Shades of Grey” is slated for an August 2014 release.

Since being booted from the Iron Man franchise in 2008, Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard has been pounding the pavement, but getting little notice, appearing in overlooked features like The Ledge and Winnie. However, 2012 could prove a positive turn for Howard. Earlier this year, he starred in George Lucas's Tuskegee Airmen biopic Red Tails. This fall he will appear in Walter Salles's hotly anticipated adaptation of Jack Kerouac's On The Road opposite Kristen Stewart and Viggo Mortensen. And he is currently in production on Lee Daniel's ambitious ensemble drama The Butler which boasts a massive and star-studded cast that includes acclaimed talent like Forest Whitaker, Alan Rickman, and Melissa Leo, just to name a few. It's in this upswing that Deadline reports Howard has signed on to headline a new thriller A Girl and a Gun. Set in modern-day Los Angeles, the feature focuses on Ian (Howard) a...

South by Southwest starts on March 9, and Sundance had better watch its back.
Although Park City's film festival still reigns supreme as America's preeminent independent film event, Austin's SXSW is running a close second. The reason? It's cooler. And we're not talking the temperature.
Unlike Sundance, SXSW is not only a film festival, but it also sidelines as one of the hottest music festivals of the year. And let's face it; Austin's got a lot more going on than Park City. When SXSW isn't in full swing, the city remains a movie lover's haven thanks to the celebrated Alamo Drafthouse, run by indie film's coolest cat, Tim League. Austin also boasts a thriving music scene all year round, and is commonly referred to as the live music capital of the world.
Oh, and the film festival? It falls in line. The past few years have seen SXSW premiere such indie hits as "Tiny Furniture,...

Liv Tyler a Science Fiction Side Effect
Pay attention movie fans, because today’s science fiction and horror update really packs a punch. At the heart of it is actress Liv Tyler. Her dear dad and American Idol judge may be engaged, but when it comes to Liv Tyler news, there’s been a bit of a drought. That’s okay, because today we can announce that she’s won a new sci fi gig.
Perhaps most famous for wearing pointy little ears in the role of Arwen of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Tyler was seen last year in a thriller called The Ledge, opposite Terrence Howard and Patrick Wilson and in quirky picture, Super, with Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page. Her current big news came to us from Deadline. She has been cast in the new Ti West sci fi/ thriller, The Side Effect.

Chicago – If Fox Faith’s target audience was comprised of atheists, the studio might have churned out this deeply shallow thriller about religious fundamentalism. Though hate-spewing cult leaders like Fred Phelps deserve to be reviled, the vast majority of fictional films about extremism come off as profoundly simple-minded. Like Kevin Smith’s “Red State,” this picture sidesteps its provocative subject matter in favor of routine clichés.
Writer/director Matthew Chapman clearly regards the picture as somewhat of a passion project, since it was spawned by his experience of covering the 9/11 terrorist attacks as a reporter in New York. The unforgettable image of bodies plummeting from the Twin Towers seems to have served as the script’s primary inspiration. As the film opens, a scruffy “non-believer” (Charlie Hunnam) nears the ledge of a rooftop while glaring ominously at the building across the street.

Courageous - Alex Kendrick, Ken Bevel, Kevin Downes
Dream House – Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts
What’s Your Number? - Anna Faris, Chris Evans, Ari Graynor
Movie of the Week
50/50
The Stars: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick
The Plot: A comedic account of a 27-year-old guy’s cancer diagnosis, and his subsequent struggle to beat the disease.
The Buzz: I don’t know, I’m not that excited about 50/50, but it’s gotta be better than Dream House, right? Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz are both great actresses, generally known for choosing good films, but this Daniel Craig guy, really? He’s looking so haggard, like he’s strung out on heroin, and he just emanates this brooding whininess, and I sense zero acting talent within. How in the world did he become a leading man? I...

Good films should make you think or leave you with something to ponder for the next few days. It’s not an imperative quality, and the thoughts films inspire are highly subjective, but if you truly subscribe to film being an art form, it ought to do more than just be moving pictures – because that’s what life is. It should propose something. The Ledge does so but to a point that becomes more than just a little overbearing. It seems that Matthew Chapman’s script can’t help but descend into heavy handed pedagoguery on the subject of religious dogma versus free thinking. Now, a great many people may agree with the overarching points its main character, as played by Charlie Hunnam, makes in its rally against the black and white moralizing of the fundamental Christian viewpoint advocated therein by Patrick Wilson. In fact, I would count myself among...

Not to be confused with the other man standing on the edge of a building movie "The Ledge" that opened earlier this year starring Charlie Hunnam, Terrence Howard and Liv Tyler, "Man On A Ledge" takes a similar premise but drops the religious angle and goes strictly for B-movie thrills. Directed by Danish filmmaker Asger Leth (who made the heralded 2006 documentary about Haiti, “Ghosts of Cité Soleil,” and is the son of Jørgen Leth), and starring Sam Worthington, Jamie Bell, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Banks, Ed Harris and a frequently underdressed Genesis Rodriguez, the story centers on an ex-cop turned…...

Katia Winter (Arena) and Ted Levine (Shutter Island) have been tapped to star in writer/director Blair Erickson's horror film The Banshee Chapter. We first told you about the project earlier this month when it was announced that Zachary Quinto's production banner, Before the Door Pictures, would make The Banshee Chapter its third feature project. Per the press release, the film will tell the story of a young journalist (Winter) who goes looking for a missing friend (to be played by True Blood's Michael McMillian) who "had been experimenting with mind-altering chemicals developed in secret government drug tests." The almost always great Levine will make a turn as a "rogue counter-culture novelist" who helps Winter during the course of her search. The Banshee Chapter is scheduled to begin shooting in New Mexico this week. For a little more on the project and Quinto's Before the Door Pictures, hit...

Fox Searchlight Pictures has released two great new haunting trailers for the film Martha Marcy May Marlene which stars Elizabeth Olsen as Martha, "a damaged woman haunted by painful memories and increasing paranoia, who struggles to reassimilate with her family after fleeing a cult." The film also co-stars John Hawkes, Christopher Abbott, Brady Corbet, Hugh Dancy, Maria Dizzia, Julia Garner, Louisa Krause and Sarah Paulson.
I saw the film up at the Sundance Film Festival and it was a solidly great film. Olsen who is the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley is a wonderful actress, that has a lot more talent than her sisters. Here is an excerpt from our review written by Ben P.

Patrick Wilson
Patrick Wilson sees dead people.
Okay, Wilson himself doesn't actually see the deceased. But Michael Holt, his character in the new CBS drama A Gifted Man does. However, before you start thinking Wilson is poised to be the next Patricia Arquette running around solving crimes with the help of the dead each week, you should know it's only one specific person his character sees — his recently deceased ex-wife.
Why is Michael suddenly seeing his dead ex? No doubt the show will spell that over the first season, but judging from the first episode she's hanging around both to get Michael to tie up her loose ends, and to get him to loosen up as well.
Wilson recently appeared on a panel for A Gifted Man at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour where AfterElton had a chance to get a little one on one time with the actor.

Patrick Wilson is a well-regarded stage actor with pretty good taste, and he's appeared in enough really good movies-- like Little Children and (in my opinion) Morning Glory to still be a decent bet. But he's also got a lot of crap on his resume, from 2004's Phantom of the Opera to this year's The Ledge, and could always stand to tip the balance in his favor. Luckily things are looking pretty good for his next project, a little space movie you might have heard of called Prometheus, being directed by an up-and-comer called Ridley Scott. You know, no big deal. The Playlist has confirmed that Wilson has indeed been added to the massive, massively talented cast of Prometheus, which already includes Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce and Rafe Spall, among others. Despite an impressive Comic Con panel we still know virtually nothing about Prometheus,...

He's best known for playing Spock in Jj Abrams' reboot of Star Trek or, for you fans of the small screen, as Gabriel Gray/Skylar on "Heroes," but Zachary Quinto wears other hats as well. He will be donning his producer chapeau when his Before The Door Pictures production company produces the elevated horror film The Banshee Chapter.
For those of you who were wondering, "elevated horror" is a format that is more dramatic and character-driven, focusing primarily on atmosphere and dread and less on gore.
The screenplay for The Banshee Chapter was written by Blair Erickson, who will be taking the helm of this picture, making his feature directorial debut. What we’ve gotten so far on the film is that it centers around a missing person, mind-altering chemicals, and clandestine government experiments. There's a recipe for success if I've ever heard one! “Would you die for your beliefs?”
The Ledge, a 2011 Sundance Film Festival entry, opens with a man, who we learn is Gavin (Charlie Hunnam Sons of Anarchy), walking out onto a ledge of a building. Within minutes the police surround the building and Detective Hollis (Terrence Howard, Iron Man) is on the scene to try to talk Gavin down. Gavin admits to Hollis that he’s not doing this because he wants to, but because he has to. He tells Hollis the story of why he’s up on the roof about to jump to his death.
Gavin lives with his roommate, Chris (TV veteran Christopher Gorham), who he tells us is gay. Gavin is an assistant manager at a local hotel when Shauna (Liv Tyler Super ) comes looking for a job. Shauna also happens to be Gavin’s neighbor. She lives with her ultra religious husband, Joe (Patrick Wilson Hard Candy,...

Coming into the festival, it was one of the most buzzed about movies at Sundance, thanks to a cast that also features Liv Tyler, Terrence Howard, and Patrick Wilson, and a hook -- a film told from the point of view of a man standing on a ledge -- that at least sounded compelling.
It is not.
When the film opens, Gavin (Hunnam) is standing on a ledge on the roof of a building, and a police officer, Hollis (Howard) -- who just found out that he had been sterile all his life -- is trying to talk him down. We quickly learn that Gavin isn't on top of that building of his own volition. For reasons that are initially unclear,...
