Largely due to his role in The Boys, Jack Quaid has become one of the biggest up-and-coming stars in Hollywood. He’s had three new movies released just this year, one of which recently hit streaming and wasted no time finding success. Quaid stars alongside Prey veteran Amber Midthunder and Spider-Man star Jacob Batalon in Novocaine, the action film following a man who can’t feel pain out to rescue the girl of his dreams. Novocaine just hit Paramount+ a few days ago, and the film rocketed to the #1 spot on the streamer’s chart, even beating Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, which fans are flocking to to prepare for The Final Reckoning. Novocaine earned solid scores of 81% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and the audience-driven Popcornmeter sits at 85%.

Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit weren’t doing it all for the nookie — they wanted their money also.
The $200 million lawsuit filed by the band over unpaid royalties is rollin’ forward after a judge ruled against Universal Music Group’s motion to dismiss. Filed in October in L.A.’s Central District, the suit says that as of April 2024, the plaintiffs “had not seen a dime in royalties on any Limp Bizkit assets.”
The complaint also accuses Umg of having a “fraudulent” system in place “to conceal artists’ royalties and keep those profits for itself.”
In his 17-page ruling this week (read it here), Judge Percy Anderson wrote: “The Court denies the Motion to Dismiss challenging the sufficiency of the copyright claims. Defendant shall file its Answer to the copyright claims asserted in the 1st AC by no later than April 7, 2025.”

Directors Robert Olsen and Dan Berk are well known to horror fans for smart, scary, and sometimes quite funny thrillers like “Body,” “Villains,” and “Significant Other.” With their latest film, “Novocaine,” the precise and expressive visual style of those early films remains, but the genre is new: The story of a mild-mannered banker (Jack Quaid) on a quest to save his kidnapped new girlfriend (Amber Midthunder) is a full-on action movie packed with exhilarating set pieces.
For Berk and Olsen, getting the chance to play in Richard Donner and John McTiernan’s sandbox was a long-held dream finally realized.
“We’ve wanted to make an action movie for a very long time, but it’s really hard early in your career,” Berk told IndieWire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. “No one’s going to give you the 20-plus-million dollars you need to make an action movie for your first feature.”

Jack Quaid as “Nate” in ‘Novocaine’ (Photo © 2025 Paramount Pictures)
His name is Nathan Caine. He can’t feel pain. His nickname is Novocaine. Sounds like the premise for a great action movie, huh?
Novocaine stars Jack Quaid (Companion) as the aforementioned Nate Caine, who works as a mild-mannered assistant bank manager. But he does have a medical condition that prevents him from feeling pain, so, as one of his tellers named Sherry (Amber Midthunder from Prey) says, he’s a “superhero.” Nate is sweet on Sherry, so when a botched robbery at the bank results in her being taken hostage, he decides to go after her himself.
Now, despite what the premise sounds like, Novocaine is not a typical action movie. Well, it is, but the fact that Nate is not a burly, muscled-up goon means that, yeah, he’s a little more relatable than, say, a Jason Statham or a Dwayne Johnson.

Jack Quaid stars in Novocaine, which is arriving in cinemas this month. Here’s the final trailer for the film.
Jack Quaid has enjoyed a career surge in the last few years, powered by the success of Amazon’s satirical superhero series The Boys. The actor has retooled his performance as Hughie Campbell in the show into a series of fun variations on the ‘ordinary guy with a big heart’ in a number of movies, especially ones like Companion where he subverts that approach to add a more sinister edge to his character.
In Novocaine, though, it looks as though we’re going to see Quaid return to this everyman archetype, this time with a focus on action. Quaid plays Nathan Caine, a chap who, thanks to a rare disorder, can’t feel pain. Hey, that rhymes.
Sounds a bit like Robert Carlyle’s villain in the Bond film The World Is Not Enough,...

Paramount Pictures has revealed the first trailer for "Novocaine." This appears to be going for an original superhero movie of sorts, albeit one with a pretty fun twist. Jack Quaid, of "The Boys" Fame, stars in the lead role as a man trying to rescue his new girlfriend, who's been taken hostage after a robbery gone wrong. To do so, he has to fight off a bunch of bad guys. Why is he qualified to do such a thing? Because he literally can't feel pain. So what he lacks in skill, he makes up for in other bats*** crazy ways.
This is a somewhat familiar setup at its core: Average guy meets a girl, falls in love with said girl, something bad happens to that girl, and he makes it his mission to save her. How many times have we seen that? What makes this interesting is the "can't feel pain" component,...

Spearheading a new strategy to grow an international slate, Israel-based Yes Studios has picked up “Haze,” an Icelandic crime series produced and created by Sigurjón Kjartansson.

Get ready for a thrilling reunion in the world of horror! Scream queen Maika Monroe and talented filmmaker Chloe Okuno are set to team up again for a new horror movie called Brides. With Monroe's captivating performances and Okuno's visionary direction, we're in for a treat!
The duo previously worked together on the psychological thriller Watcher, which Okuno wrote and directed and Monroe starred in. They obviously work well together, so we expect their new project to be another masterpiece.
Brides is Okuno's next movie. She hasn't worked on any films since Watcher. Her most recent work was directing episodes of the TV shows Let the Right One In and Teacup. For Brides, she will be directing from a script she wrote, and Monroe will star. Additionally, Anthony Bregman and Stefanie Azpiazu will produce through their Likely Story film production company.

Maika Monroe is finally getting the recognition she deserves as one of this generation's best actresses and a true scream queen. After starring in Neon's acclaimed and financially successful film Longlegs as FBI agent Lee Harker, Monroe has signed onto her next project, a remake of the 1992 classic The Hand that Rocks the Cradle from 20th Century Studios.
As a fan of Curtis Hanson's psychological thriller, I don't know that it needs a remake, but knowing Monroe is attached has piqued my interest. The film's subject matter would also be fascinating to see through a modern lens.
According to Deadline, Monroe is going to play the role of Mrs. Mott, who Rebecca De Mornay portrayed in the original movie. In the 1992 film, Mrs. Mott becomes a widow after her husband, an obstetrician, is accused of sexual assault, and he kills himself as a result. Because of his suicide,...

Maika Monroe reveals her dream to join the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Director Mike Flanagan is also interested in a reboot, though has struggled with the franchise rights. Monroe's status as a scream queen could lead to a successful franchise revival.
Horror veteran Maika Monroe reveals that A Nightmare on Elm Street is the horror franchise she would like to join next. Known for her work within the horror and thriller genres, which have solidified her as a scream queen, the actor first broke through with a role in the 2014 horror film It Follows and now, a decade later, a sequel is in development. Monroe currently stars in Longlegs, which just opened to $22.6 million at the box office, the best opening yet for an original horror movie in 2024.
Now, shortly after Longlegs was released in theaters, Monroe revealed which horror franchise she would like to join next A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Longlegs star Maika Monroe has previously revealed that she only saw Nicolas Cage in full makeup as the titular killer for the first time when she entered the room to film their first (and only?) scene together, and Neon has cleverly incorporated this moment into the movie's marketing.
In this behind-the-scenes clip, Monroe walks through the door to interview Cage's Longlegs, and we hear her heart rate spike dramatically as she approaches the table he's sitting at.
Cage's full visage is blacked out, and director Osgood Perkins spoke about the effect of keeping the actor's "transformation" hidden during a recent interview with THR.
“The first day that he came onto set, it was a relatively young crew in Vancouver who hadn’t seen really anything like that — I mean no one has really seen anything like what Nick is like in this movie. Certainly walking onto the set with him on the first day,...

We're now less than two weeks away from the release of a movie that has been hailed as the most terrifying serial killer thriller since Silence of the Lambs, and Neon has debuted one final trailer for Osgood Perkins' Longlegs.
This latest teaser pulls back on the horrific imagery (slightly), but still manages to be highly unsettling, and also features what might be our best look yet at Nicolas Cage as the titular killer right at the end.
Aside from a few quick glimpses, Longlegs himself has mostly been kept out of the marketing, which Perkins believes will make his full reveal all the more effective for audiences when they're sitting down to watch the movie in theaters.
"It's driving people towards a freak show at a circus tent," the filmmaker told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview when asked why Cage's character has largely been kept under wraps. "We've...

Longlegs heads to theaters on July 12. Watch the new, final trailer below, emphasizing the scariness ahead.
The upcoming serial killer horror movie marks the return of director Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel). Nicolas Cage stars alongside Maika Monroe, with Monroe playing an FBI agent and Cage playing a serial killer.
Longlegs is said to be “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers,” and early reviews have favorably compared the film to the classic ’90s thriller The Silence of the Lambs.

Neon has debuted a brief new promo for Osgood Perkins' Longlegs, featuring some unsettling new imagery from the highly-anticipated horror film.
We've seen several teasers for the movie at this stage, and while we have caught a couple of chilling glimpses of Nicolas Cage as the titular serial killer, the character's full visage has been kept under wraps - with good reason.
"It's driving people towards a freak show at a circus tent," Perkins tells Entertainment Weekly. "We've got the thing behind the curtain, and when there's enough people gathered 'round, we're going to pull the curtain."
"It's the equivalent of putting a warning label on a jar of nitroglycerin," adds Cage. "The monster is a highly, highly dangerous substance. The way it's moved, unveiled, deployed has to be treated very carefully. Forget about the movie theater blowing up; the whole city could blow up, nay the country, maybe even the world.

A decade later, Maika Monroe has no plans outrunning her breakout role.
The actress teased that her upcoming horror movie They Follow will be well worth the wait after she signed onto the sequel of 2014’s It Follows back in October, along with returning writer/director David Robert Mitchell.
“David is brilliant. I mean, he is brilliant,” she told Collider. “The whole movie transformed at that point. It was changing the game in the genre, and he wouldn’t ever make a sequel if he didn’t think it was going to top it.
“He’s very specific, turns down so many… He just knows what he wants to do and what he wants to make. I mean, at first I’m like, ‘Oh, a sequel? Where are we going to go here?’ And I read it, and it’s just so f***ing good. It’s so good. I’m so excited.

In May 2024, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos made a strange claim to The New York Times. Discussing "Barbenheimer," Sarandos insisted that the success of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" wasn't related to the fact that both were released in theaters and made an event out of physically going to the movies. "Both of those movies would be great for Netflix. They definitely would have enjoyed just as big an audience on Netflix," he said. That suggestion seems ... unlikely. But Sarandos wasn't done. "There's no reason to believe that the movie itself is better in any size of screen for all people," he said. "My son's an editor. He is 28 years old, and he watched 'Lawrence of Arabia' on his phone."
Leaving aside what a travesty that example is, Sarandos is simply incorrect. Many movies are, indeed, better when they're bigger, because the theatrical experience is beneficial for two main reasons. First,...

The previous teasers for The Blackcoat's Daughter director Osgood Perkins' next feature, Longlegs, have been very effective in building an aura of unsettling dread around the mysterious horror flick, but this latest trailer really takes things to another level.
Though the movie is still playing things relatively close to the chest when it comes to revealing specific plot details, this footage does give us a little more to go on, as rookie FBI agent Lee Harker (It Follows star Maika Monroe) becomes obsessed with tracking down a sadistic serial killer (Nicolas Cage) who targets families - and might just have supernatural abilities.
Harker has a personal connection to the killer (did she survive an earlier attack?), which leads her down an even darker path and into the world of the Occult.
Say your prayers, check out the new trailer and poster below along with the initial social media reactions, and...

If there's one thing that actor Maika Monroe is going to do, it's put on a brilliant performance in a critically-acclaimed horror movie that's destined to be underseen and underappreciated by most of the general moviegoing public at large. The scream queen's first real breakthrough role came in 2014's "The Guest" and she wasted no time following that up with "It Follows" (which is receiving a sequel with the original cast reprising their roles), 2022's criminally underrated "Watcher," and the Paramount+ original "Significant Other."
This time, however, the star is backed up by none other than Nicolas Cage and actor-turned-director Oz Perkins on "Longlegs" in the hopes that audiences will be right on time to appreciate whatever scares and compelling imagery await. This latest horror feature comes with a fair amount of hype behind it, with previous trailers setting the stage for an occult thriller with one heck of an unsettling sense of atmosphere.

Horror fans have been keeping a very close eye on director Osgood Perkins' next project, and the first social media reactions for the mysterious Longlegs are in.
These reactions are highly positive, and it sounds like the movie is a genuinely disturbing, terrifying experience.
Though Longlegs definitely seems to be keeping its biggest secrets firmly under wraps for the time being (and the teasers are all the better for it), we do know that the plot revolves around a rookie FBI agent (It Follows star Maika Monroe) attempting to track down a sadistic serial killer (Nicolas Cage) who targets families.
Cage's character has largely been kept out of the marketing, aside from one unsettling shot.
Check out the social media posts below, and keep an eye out for a new trailer.

Jake Lacy's transition to morally complex characters showcases his range and depth as an actor, from comedy to drama. The show offers a thrilling and mysterious storyline, based on Liane Moriarty's bestselling novel, with a talented ensemble cast.

If you ever thought to yourself, What would it be like if Limp Bizkit and Corey Feldman went on tour together?, then you might belong in Loserville. No, we’re not taking jabs at you (but come on…) – that’s the name of the tour. Fred Durst and the most limp of bizkits will be hitting the road next year for the Loserville Tour, their first in the U.S. since 2022’s Still Sucks shows.
The Loserville tour will see Limp Bizkit and company hitting all of your favorite U.S. cities, like Somerset, Wi, Holmdel, NJ and Pelham, Al. All right, so Limp Bizkit is an easy target, but they’ll still be landing in Toronto, Charlotte, Houston, and some other metropolitans over the course of their 24-city tour. Unfortunately for hometown devotees, they won’t be making it to Jacksonville, Fl, instead taking the stage in Tampa about three hours away.

Back in 2015, writer/director David Robert Mitchell unleashed the tense and quietly terrifying "It Follows" upon unsuspecting viewers. Critics hailed it as an instant classic while audiences ate it up and asked for seconds, helping the very responsibly-budgeted horror flick make more than 20 times its cost during its theatrical run. It was, by all reasonable metrics, an unmitigated success and the unofficial beginning of star Maika Monroe's ascension to genuine scream queen territory. Now, almost a decade later, indie-friendly studio Neon is throwing their distribution and production muscle behind a sequel, titled "They Follow."

Coming soon from Neon, Longlegs is rated “R” for…

The wolf pack is hoping for Emmys love.
“Teen Wolf: The Movie,” Paramount+’s adaptation of the MTV supernatural-thriller series, has been submitted for the Primetime Emmy Awards for outstanding television movie, Variety has learned exclusively.
Moreover, the streamer also submitted the film in five other categories: lead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie (Tyler Posey), directing (Russell Mulcahy), writing, prosthetic makeup and original music and lyrics (“Lemon” by Tyler Posey). This provides Posey, who plays the True Alpha werewolf Scott and produces the film, three chances for recognition.
Read: Variety’s Awards Circuit for the latest Emmy predictions in all categories.

Plus Kay hasn't been allowed to watch the show about the well-endowed porn star but that's okay because the team share their (oft inadvertent) strip club stories to make her feel better. The moral of this podcast? If someone offers you mac and cheese, you take it.
