Throughout the work we have a perspective of the singer that has been well known by Colombian society, especially in the context of the Pacific and Caribbean coast, a life that was marked by excesses, which served to inspire the artist to compose his greatest hits, the story manages to be narrated in such a way that we can empathize with the character of Joe, but it falls short with the other characters that accompanied him in his development, since the only resource that is used to transform the protagonist are the conflicts internals that he has with himself, the enemy of the story turns out to be the protagonist himself.
Some ellipses made during the narration feel a bit strange and can make the viewer lose the context of the story, these same jumps make it impossible to connect with another character that appears on the screen, either because they appear for a short time or interact little or even seem to have no conflict at all.
A very valuable and significant sound resource is used in the narration of the story and they are Joe's own songs, songs that are very well received by the general public and that manage to move the viewer from their seat, in addition to helping to drive the general plot and reinforce the intentionality of the scenes since they coincide with the feeling that is expected to evoke, resulting in an empathetic sound with the moment.
In terms of photography and lighting, it is not far behind because it manages very well through colors to portray the emotionality of the protagonist, these revolve around the protagonist, in general it is a film made in semi-darkness, it feels mostly dark and with tonality. Yellow with many close shots, a success if we take into account that it seeks to achieve intimacy in the singer's life.
In the case of production design, they have many successes, the details in Joe's life habits are well told, such as the ice cubes for soda, as well as the success in the clothing used, the clothing is consistent with the historical context as well as the props used in the decoration.
The story leaves a little to be desired in the way it is narrated and in the development and connection of the secondary characters, but it is a story that manages to move and bring the feelings of each scene to the surface.
They have an opportunity to let you know Joe and maybe show him grow up to understand him better. Instead they only focus on his dark side and show him locked in to his room for hours creating his songs by making sounds. It is interesting to see but so boring.
I'm sad to tell my friends not to go and see it.
The light in the movie is when the are recording one song, the shows are recorded in studio and only showing the scene.
But happened with showing his Neigbourhood, him as a kid, his family and his relationship.
Please guys!
